Thus, it takes the form of one long, uninterrupted monologue by Dio himself, as he writes his thoughts and feelings leading up to and during the Stardust Crusade. However, a fan translation exists on the web - you can find it. *The are differences between the text and your narration* With no offense to the translator, the fan translation of this novel has numerous severe english mistakes, which I took the liberty of fixing as I read them out, both my own ease of speaking and for the text to make more sense. *Is this canon?* It's as canon as Purple Haze Feedback - both were created as part of a Jojo Celebration, both are endorsed by Araki but not written by him. The “I had” always makes me laugh a little bit, because I just imagine Dio walking out a door preparing to end the jostar blood line. And then after a 5 seconds later screen, he’s back to writing.

After everyone including Forever, Enya herself, the Oingo-Boingo brothers, and Vanilla Ice are defeated. And DIO following soon after. DIO: And I DIO was right (dies).
First of all, insane, amazing reading! HOLY CRAP. I'm kinda sad that Dio never learned of the Pillar Men. He would be like "Ah, so there was a way for a Vampire to transcend. Shame. Someone like I, DIO, would have become a God yet it would not let me reach Heaven... but it would have been a step." Man... imagine Dio and Diavolo join forces? Like it's EXTREMELY unlikely but a younger Diavolo might have done so as long as he can be boss he wanted and Dio will get heaven. Man the possibilities. Even in his own dairy, Dio thought he would keep writing tomorrow. SO I know this isn't canon but it is canon that Jotaro found Dio's diary... why didn't he like skip through it in case Dio had a backup plan and spot the name "Pucci" and then "Yare-yare... guess I have to beat this guy now". Oh well.
Jotaro was so pissed off by DIO he wanted all his belongings destroyed he prolly found the diary and when he found out it belonged to DIO he burned it Also rember how he sent Koichi to italy when he heard DIO had a son
I am starting to understand why fans like DIO as a character beside meme references after reading this novel. He is a well-potrayed villain. Funny how Our hero, Jonathan is overshadowed by main villain, DIO as a character unlike other anime series.

I feel like if his “little sister” was born, then Dio probably would’ve loved her more than anything and shared his power with her. Such as using the stone mask and the stand arrow. I think this because he would’ve been able to understand that she hasn’t done anything wrong and would probably spend the most time with her. Of course, that’s just what I think. But I think it would’ve been interesting if she had been born and became a vampire like him.

1:00:02- DIO has a point. Not only would there be no way to prove that Dio caused Dario's death through inaction, but it also such a method wouldn't need to be recorded to be accidentally discovered by Jonathan years later. Even if DIO did do the poisoning method to George- because Dio didn't repeat his scheme, he wouldn't be as much of a suspect of the kiling. And Dio would've likely been more cunning in removing his evidence, leading to him killing George with none the wiser.
I really enjoy how this was written, but something stood out to me, the fact that Dio acknowledges Erina as someone important for his defeat. Even tho he calls her foolish because of his beliefs, he sees her as a core to it...Erina is really strong and i get happy by that!
When I first read this book , I was afraid it would try rewriting Dio into some misunderstood guy or somesuch... Thakfully NO, it totally fits with what a rambling madman would say to rationalize his actions. It actually bridges his Phantom Blood self to his Stardust Crusaders and Stone Ocean appearances pretty well and gives him some self-awareness (but never enough to see that he, DIO, is in fact a parasite parading around with JoJo's corpse...). As for the explosion on the boat, I personally believe he was puppeteering Jonathan's corpse and holding on the casket's bottom like a tick. Once Erina was rescued and the sun set, Dio simply climbed in it and sunk for a century, his memory and mental stability harmed (hence why it is believable he cannot connect the dots properly...). Honestly, my pet peeve with Part 3 is that Araki should've had DIO keep JoJo's skull somewhere just to pointificate, converse with and mock him. That could have made him just as sickening as he was in Part 1...
I like how it was framed almost like a tragedy as well; DIO was so close to realising, and you could tell in the final chapter when he was reflecting on Erina saving him and on his mother that he was starting to change. Even though DIO originally said that Speedwagon was right about him being born evil, using it as a crutch to escape from his actions and agency, after he reflected that he could have been friends with Jonathan if he hadn't have wanted everything for himself it was clear that he had at least some regret. He even nearly chose to join the Joestars, and while he would have still been a vampire, it probably would have been his first step towards becoming a good person. But he is unable to overcome himself, or at least does not have the time, and is destroyed. And so his misguided heaven plan is passed down to Pucci, who becomes an enemy to the Joestars, all to obtain a heaven which was ultimately born from DIO's delusions. It all could have been avoided if DIO had potentially even just one more day to reflect. Although perhaps he would never have changed. But now we will never know

I will the best grand-uncle an unholy blood-sucking abomination can be !" You do point something interesting : The Heaven plan. I don't think Pucci REALLY got what DIO's actual "heaven" meant. Now, this is just my 2 cents, but, peace of mind and domination have always been Dio's drive even as a kid. So his heaven would be basically Salem's Lot on a global scale ! People will either serve him as agents or snacks... I don't think Dio would ever change. He is too petty, self-centered, power-hungry and malicious to even see an opportunity for a better life (which the Joestars fucking OFFERED him ! Jonathan tried nothing but be nice to him initially... then Dio assaulted Erina and well, SHOTS FIRED !). The one time he had a sincere epiphany, he went full "JoJo ! I admire your valor, so I shall have your body !"

The canon version wouldn't have because his whole deal is that he's pure evil and doesn't care, but the Over Heaven version actually somewhat thought he was in the right, even if "in the right" wasn't mutually exclusive to being evil. I wouldn't ever imagine him turning good, but possibly he could have gone out like Straits or something Then again its hard to think of the two DIOs as even the same person

Honestly that dedicated to Mr. Jotaro Kujo at the beginning really freaked me out for a moment as I thought it was DIO who wrote it and this entire thing was a note to Jotaro.
I feel like all the realizations dio came to about the intentions of the joestars could be part of the relationship between mind and body receiving enlightenment of the ones he has become tied to by fate and by body
watched the whole thing at the end after hearing all he said at the end it had to be fake confidence he himself thought fate wouldn't let him win. I never thought he was this afraid though it's so interesting to hear. it reminds me of Erwin from Aot. working so hard to see something they hear about as kids. They were so close to reaching it but the enemy was closer
This is just beautiful. As a fill-in voice actor, I've planned on reading this in a Discord call in DIO's voice for a while. Listening to this gives me a joy I can only describe as... "Heavenly"
30:31- I think the reasoning for why they want to stop DIO’s plan is much more complicated than stopping evil from gaining absolute power. While they can accept their deaths with dignity, they don’t want others that aren’t their enemies to accept their fates lying down if there’s a better option available. If there’s a negative situation they’d fight against it, even if it is well-intentioned.
this is a amazing book i love the fact of using the gears to show the time of the chapters referencing that fact of Dio saying the worlds power is like stopping gears.

I really want Araki to make a one shot alternate timeline before he starts on JoJoLands. Imagine a timeline where Johnathan grows old with Erina and sees his friends and family grow and come up and he even helps him,DIO, see the errors of his way and brings him on the right path.

i have seen the entire anime, and i’ve read almost all the manga, and i didn’t think i would enjoy 5 and a half hours of Dio talking about heaven, seeing as i’m 13 and i’m easily bored. but this is somehow very entertaining.

The Evil Woman that DIO believes who is a 'good mother' is ironically the kind of woman, the lady 'raised' Giorno. His son. Going out to parties, drink wine like there's no tomorrow. Marrying a husband who almost simular to Dario. She's the example of the opposite to Dio's own mother of who she described and what he viewed on. Man his diary, can be very deep, but you have to resist, because this is Dio we're all dealing with.
While this isn't canon to say, having the part 7 explain Diego's background kinda puts more tragedy to the mother's backstory. Someone who was upper-class and while being a person, messing around probably got pregnant or something which forced elopement to someone who was always shitty. Wedlock was one of the worst things and regardless would have lost her place in society, so falling into poverty and having that title still could have protected her more than other situations. Divorce and leaving was also much harder, even if she left she'd face mass problems given her background.
Ok, theory time: Of course, this book isn't pure canon, but within its version of the events I sort of figured how Dio got his name. Dio's mother was probably noble by birth, but planned on pursuing a life of a nun. She was probably extremely religious and her family endorsed it. I even believe, that she did become a nun, but then she met Dario. It was either a one-night-stand or some twisted form of pity turned to love, that led to Dio's mother to be thrown out of the monastery or church she was part of. Thus, she was left with nothing and had to marry Dario, who was still somewhat rich from the money he got from selling the ring. Basically, she named Dio, well, "Dio", because of her love for God and her behaviour in this serves to show her devotion to the principles. As for Dario, this book led to me believe he actually loved Dio and cared for him, again, in a very twisted way. He is evil and an abuser, but in his last days he did think about his son's future.
I do really enjoy this. It adds a lot to dio’s character and opinions during part 3 while fleshing out the heaven plan. However I don’t really like how directly Dio quotes things from part 1. I understand during certain moments that would’ve stuck with him like when Jonathan first stood up to Dio but most of the time I feel it should be somewhat skewed from time. Even if Dio did experience that stuff first hand I feel like he would have glossed over certain parts more while focusing on other stuff. I understand that he spent 100 years reflecting on this but I still feel it should be altered more with dio’s perspective considering how far in the past this was.

I am starting to understand why fans like DIO as a character beside meme references after reading this novel. He is a well-potrayed villain. Funny how Our hero, Jonathan is overshadowed by main villain, DIO as a character unlike other anime series.
Honestly, I can't think of DIO without thinking of Jonathan. You say he overshadows JoJo, I say JoJo pops up whenever one thinks about Dio in depth...

I feel like if his “little sister” was born, then Dio probably would’ve loved her more than anything and shared his power with her. Such as using the stone mask and the stand arrow. I think this because he would’ve been able to understand that she hasn’t done anything wrong and would probably spend the most time with her. Of course, that’s just what I think. But I think it would’ve been interesting if she had been born and became a vampire like him.

Absolute mad lad. I tried to read it so many times and just couldn't get through it.
1:00:02- DIO has a point. Not only would there be no way to prove that Dio caused Dario's death through inaction, but it also such a method wouldn't need to be recorded to be accidentally discovered by Jonathan years later. Even if DIO did do the poisoning method to George- because Dio didn't repeat his scheme, he wouldn't be as much of a suspect of the kiling. And Dio would've likely been more cunning in removing his evidence, leading to him killing George with none the wiser.

At this point Im more used to your voice as DIO more than any VA. Good job
I really enjoy how this was written, but something stood out to me, the fact that Dio acknowledges Erina as someone important for his defeat. Even tho he calls her foolish because of his beliefs, he sees her as a core to it...Erina is really strong and i get happy by that!
When I first read this book , I was afraid it would try rewriting Dio into some misunderstood guy or somesuch...
Thakfully NO, it totally fits with what a rambling madman would say to rationalize his actions. It actually bridges his Phantom Blood self to his Stardust Crusaders and Stone Ocean appearances pretty well and gives him some self-awareness (but never enough to see that he, DIO, is in fact a parasite parading around with JoJo's corpse...).
As for the explosion on the boat, I personally believe he was puppeteering Jonathan's corpse and holding on the casket's bottom like a tick. Once Erina was rescued and the sun set, Dio simply climbed in it and sunk for a century, his memory and mental stability harmed (hence why it is believable he cannot connect the dots properly...).
Honestly, my pet peeve with Part 3 is that Araki should've had DIO keep JoJo's skull somewhere just to pointificate, converse with and mock him. That could have made him just as sickening as he was in Part 1...
I like how it was framed almost like a tragedy as well; DIO was so close to realising, and you could tell in the final chapter when he was reflecting on Erina saving him and on his mother that he was starting to change. Even though DIO originally said that Speedwagon was right about him being born evil, using it as a crutch to escape from his actions and agency, after he reflected that he could have been friends with Jonathan if he hadn't have wanted everything for himself it was clear that he had at least some regret. He even nearly chose to join the Joestars, and while he would have still been a vampire, it probably would have been his first step towards becoming a good person. But he is unable to overcome himself, or at least does not have the time, and is destroyed. And so his misguided heaven plan is passed down to Pucci, who becomes an enemy to the Joestars, all to obtain a heaven which was ultimately born from DIO's delusions. It all could have been avoided if DIO had potentially even just one more day to reflect. Although perhaps he would never have changed. But now we will never know

I don't think Pucci REALLY got what DIO's actual "heaven" meant. Now, this is just my 2 cents, but, peace of mind and domination have always been Dio's drive even as a kid. So his heaven would be basically Salem's Lot on a global scale ! People will either serve him as agents or snacks...
I don't think Dio would ever change. He is too petty, self-centered, power-hungry and malicious to even see an opportunity for a better life (which the Joestars fucking OFFERED him ! Jonathan tried nothing but be nice to him initially... then Dio assaulted Erina and well, SHOTS FIRED !). The one time he had a sincere epiphany, he went full "JoJo ! I admire your valor, so I shall have your body !"
@@saidi7975 I mean that the Over Heaven version of DIO could have changed. The canon version wouldn't have because his whole deal is that he's pure evil and doesn't care, but the Over Heaven version actually somewhat thought he was in the right, even if "in the right" wasn't mutually exclusive to being evil.
I wouldn't ever imagine him turning good, but possibly he could have gone out like Straits or something

30:31- I think the reasoning for why they want to stop DIO’s plan is much more complicated than stopping evil from gaining absolute power. While they can accept their deaths with dignity, they don’t want others that aren’t their enemies to accept their fates lying down if there’s a better option available. If there’s a negative situation they’d fight against it, even if it is well-intentioned.
Out of all the light novels, this one is the most likely to actually be canon. It has the same ol’ Dio going into further plans about Heaven

The Evil Woman that DIO believes who is a 'good mother' is ironically the kind of woman, the lady 'raised' Giorno. His son. Going out to parties, drink wine like there's no tomorrow. Marrying a husband who almost simular to Dario. She's the example of the opposite to Dio's own mother of who she described and what he viewed on. Man his diary, can be very deep, but you have to resist, because this is Dio we're all dealing with.

While this isn't canon to say, having the part 7 explain Diego's background kinda puts more tragedy to the mother's backstory. Someone who was upper-class and while being a person, messing around probably got pregnant or something which forced elopement to someone who was always shitty. Wedlock was one of the worst things and regardless would have lost her place in society, so falling into poverty and having that title still could have protected her more than other situations. Divorce and leaving was also much harder, even if she left she'd face mass problems given her background.

Ok, theory time:
Of course, this book isn't pure canon, but within its version of the events I sort of figured how Dio got his name.
Dio's mother was probably noble by birth, but planned on pursuing a life of a nun. She was probably extremely religious and her family endorsed it. I even believe, that she did become a nun, but then she met Dario. It was either a one-night-stand or some twisted form of pity turned to love, that led to Dio's mother to be thrown out of the monastery or church she was part of. Thus, she was left with nothing and had to marry Dario, who was still somewhat rich from the money he got from selling the ring. Basically, she named Dio, well, "Dio", because of her love for God and her behaviour in this serves to show her devotion to the principles.
As for Dario, this book led to me believe he actually loved Dio and cared for him, again, in a very twisted way. He is evil and an abuser, but in his last days he did think about his son's future.

I do really enjoy this. It adds a lot to dio’s character and opinions during part 3 while fleshing out the heaven plan. However I don’t really like how directly Dio quotes things from part 1. I understand during certain moments that would’ve stuck with him like when Jonathan first stood up to Dio but most of the time I feel it should be somewhat skewed from time. Even if Dio did experience that stuff first hand I feel like he would have glossed over certain parts more while focusing on other stuff. I understand that he spent 100 years reflecting on this but I still feel it should be altered more with dio’s perspective considering how far in the past this was.
