I served my mission same time as when E. Oaks was there, everything mentioned in this interview is totally true, listening to this episode brought me great memories, including rice eating 3 times a day.
I served as a missionary in the PI and also deeply love the Filipino people and their faith. Brings me so much joy to see the growth of the members and many more temples!❤
Thank you for this podcast. I believe I was 4 or 5 when President Oaks served as the Philippines Area President. My father was serving as a bishop in a ward here in General Santos at the same time President Oaks was the Area President. Now I understand why my father was so passionate about teaching Tithing as a way to help us become self-reliant people. As remembered by some of the members here, my late father also emphasized the importance of going to the temple. Considering that our stake was located in the southernmost part of the Philippines, members were challenged to visit the temple at least once a year. As an avid local church history enthusiast, I am very grateful to hear the experiences of President and Sister Oaks and to understand why my father emphasized these principles when he served as a bishop and later on, as the stake president of General Santos. This podcast just made me miss my father so much! Thank you for this @Church News!

This is wonderful. I like this interview. I used to ask myself why an Apostle went to preside over an area. Today I have an answer.
Great podcast! Thanks! 🙏🏻❤️
