    Is there a place for the license plate? Not sure if they’re required in the US, but in Europe you have to have them both front and back.

    I hit a baby deer with the front of my van going about 25 miles an hour and it destroyed my radiator my intercooler and cost me a lot of money to repair I really wish I would have had a strong bumper and radiator guard

    I have done a fair bit of hardcore wheeling and other advantages of spectra include limpness and ease of rigging. Lack of cable splinters is huge. Abrasion can be mitigated with a sleeve.

    One more tip: be careful not to get the cable wrapped around your wheel during recovery. Brake lines are prone to damage! (Don't ask me how I know).

    You show tree saver strap looped on itself. I am told this reduces capacity by 50%. Use a soft shackle and hook on to both loops on winch eyelet.

    When installing the winch do you install a fuse or switch? Curious as to how clean the install looks in the engine bay?

    Another use of a winch would be to move some obstacles that might block your way, like trees or boulders.

    How does this bumper affect or not affect weight in the front with an upgraded suspension?

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bumper is about 100 lbs. Generally the vans are heavier on the rear axle so this helps distribute the weight or at least doesn’t add to rear axle weight. The winch adds weight too. Overall no significant difference in how it rides that I could tell.

    which size shackles fit with this bumper? 3/4 inch?

  • @jamilchavez4592
    @jamilchavez4592 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The winch, lights and bumper cost 3-4K? 🤔 I always assumed it would be a couple thousand more than that!

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few different options available from different manufacturers so the price is variable. The best quality setup is over $4k for sure.

    It will pay for itself 10 times over when you have to use when boondocking.

      What do you mean?

  • @outlaw7x77

    Ummm...Cons: less airflow to radiator with bar and big Baja Designs lights right in front of the radiator. Maybe it doesn't make a difference on average weather days. But in 105° or above like a lot of us had last summer, oh yes it does. $5000 for a bumper/winch/lights/installation? No thanks. Also: I'm supposed to spend $5000.00 and risk damage to my vehicle when someone else is dumb enough to get stuck? Lol...JMO!

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good points. Never had an overheating problem but the winch does limit some air flow.

    synthetic rope - vulnerable to vandalism? taking a Stanley knife to it would make short work of it, I suspect.

    Why would I spend thousands of my hard earned dollars solely to help someone else that never made that investment, I mean yeah If I have a winch and someone’s in trouble off course I’ll help them but that is not even in my thoughts when laying down the dollars. I want the product primarily to get “me” out the s**t.

      Plus a hitch-mounted winch, stored out of sight, can help get you out of a jam while avoiding undesired attention when it’s not in use.
