I like the little fill you added with high E-D-B to break it up. A lot of times I start out the song with a low open E-open A-A#-B for a growling start and then during the verse I play the same pattern moved up to the 12th fret on E and A strings because it seems to cut through the mix in my band with five other instruments. Side note: I don’t usually like to ask but, I’m having trouble with Criminal by Fiona Apple and wondering if you would do a video of it when you have the time?
thanks! that riff gets a little too repetitive so it's nice to move it around as you mentioned to keep it more interesting. I'm not familiar with that Fiona Apple song but I can definitely take a look.
@@Brand73 it’s actually a pretty good song. I have the intro/outro generally figured out but my timing gets a little out of sorts and that’ll come with repetition. My main challenge with it is the progression through the main portions.
thanks! Bass I am using is Yamaha TRBX174EW www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/yamaha-trbx174ew-mango-wood-4-string-electric-bass-guitar Also the multi-effects pedal is Zoom B1 Four www.zzounds.com/item--ZOOZB1FOUR
I am learning this for a gig - it occurs to me that it coud be played beginning at the open E. That is usually the first choice. Why is this song played with the higher E?
IMO, the verses are played at the bass mid E to add drama when the chorus kicks in and playing drops to the low E position accompanied by a change in bass line. Quite frankly, IMO, w/o the drama of that E change it’s a fairly monotonous moronic song.
Nice cover and very helpful with the tabs, thank you Brand73!

I also play it with the open E, it gives more of a live aesthetic with feeling the bass. Maybe I’m wrong.
@@nowhearthis5067I don't think the low E is played in this song at any point.
