  • Toby Christensen, The Healing Drummer, is a recognized expert and innovator in
the field of healing music. "Change Your Rhythm and Change Your Life" is
the foundation of his healing therapies, his teachings and his music. Known
as a "Sonic Architect," Toby uses sound energy from the drum to create a
force that disrupts unhealthy patterns and then combines elemental
rhythms to restore and realign the mind, body and spirit. Toby has
authored books and articles and recorded many CD's, and his concerts are
energetic interactive experiences of music, drumming and personal empowerment.
He travels across the country to conduct individual and group experiences,
keynote speeches, corporate team empowerment, classes and workshops. Toby
is the inventor of Sound Attunement Therapy and 5 Element Drumming.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I haven’t watched this in awhile - but the energy coming from the drum is pure power. Great job again brother Toby!

I had the pleasure of meeting and receiving a healing session with him yesterday. Beautiful, just beautiful! I'm reading his book (Release Your Sh*t & Reclaim Your Power) now and I'm so all about it!

I just happened upon this video. I taught myself how to play drums and it was something that was natural and I was very proud of how good I was (though with drumming and music as a whole, there is always something new to learn 😁). It meant the world to me and I loved being on stage and entertaining folks, whether it was 10 people or 100.
Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in early 2010 and from then on, it has done irreparable damage to my body, mainly my legs.
I was to the point of giving up playing until a talk with one of my physical therapists who urged me to keep playing. She was right. I researched music and its healing abilities and I learned that it was not only a great mental release but also a physical exercise as I was forced to use all 4 limbs and both sides of my brain simultaneously which also helped me retrain my hand/eye coordination as well as working my legs and feet (I lost feeling from my waist down so I couldn't tell where my feet were without looking.).
Music Therapy is a wonderful thing and I wish that more people would be able to do it. Not just those like myself but anyone could benefit from playing an instrument, but I will always recommend the drums! 🥁🤘♥️

Drum Monkey I wish you all the best and trust you will keep playing for a very long time. I have just bought a Djembe drum, so will probably drive everyone in the neighbourhood mad, seeing as we are all at home self isolating.
      Good luck. 🥁🥁🥁

A powerful display of rhythm in flow. I find that even 5 minutes of active drumming provides a safe and constructive way to release stress, anxiety and even anger. The rhythmic practice helps me develop a deeper sense of harmony and
clarity of the mind. The drum is a simple instrument which can provide
great healing benefits to the mind, body and spirit. Thank you for sharing this inspiring video.

haha, oh my gosh, I had the same idea about aging when i was little. I thought I would grow up to be the same age as my celebrity crushes so I could marry them (this is when I was 4/5 years old) haha.

Why was the volume turn off? I would have liked to listen to the drum with the volume. The way he is playing sounds so far away, was this purposely done this way? I don't understand. I can hear it but not like I heard his voice.

His style wasn't healing he should use the slow beat of a buffalo drum. His video should have been more informative and less drumming, unless it was the real purpose of the video.
