You're plain speaking about this type of welding is SO WONDERFUL to see. The topic is a hybrid between stainless working gear and jewelery. Not many will do it, much less explain. I've come across some snoots who want to talk themselves up to you believing they are the grandest wizard of welding that ever walked. I adore your demos. Your camera man is good - did you right.
I've forgotten most of what was taught me 40 +/- years ago ... but not afraid of being to ignorant to try again. THANK YOU.

Thank you for watching. I certainly don't mind being real and showing my vulnerability.

Thank you for following Jed. Great idea on polishing. Not a long pro or hard so I’ll see what I can do.

Awesome stuff Mr. Capron. Sometimes I think you read my mind. I’m soldering Spurs Thai weekend and was not looking forward to it because it’s a dang mess. This made me feel much more confident.
And you ain’t just a kiddin’ about Stay Clean. Breathing that stuff is like gettin’ pinched in the nose and kicked in the cods at the same time.

    Unbelievable!
You guys knocked this one plum outta the ballpark here!
    That’s was awesome Wilson!
So informative and there is a ton of rock solid information in here and don’t worry about the length; it’s solid front to back and great content!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I don’t know if you realize how much this is going help folks!
I’m right here struggling with this part of the process and 2 weeks ago I couldn’t do didly, and now I’m getting the hang of things!
Its a HUGE help to have a good reference and tutorial to go to when a person is struggling!
This is it right here man!
Thanks again for taking the time out of your day to do a good workshop Wednesday and the camera man gets an A+ to go right along with your gold star!
Job well done, and you guys enjoy the rest of the day and week!
I’m borrowing the Adios cuz it’s cool!

I really like the part where solder silver to spurs... something I've heard can't be done for going on 10 years is soldering silver to steel. Myth-busters moment here for me and I can't wait to try it out. I'd guess it's the Dandix that's been the problem. Anyhow, thanks!

Yes sir it’s certainly possible and several ways to do it. Glad you liked it.

Would adding some pins off the back of the silver to insert into the steel have any benifits? Maybe add some grab to it? Or peening in some silver pins into the steel and then soldering like you do here? I don't know if it's true but doesn't silver soldered to silver have a better bond then silver to steel? Maybe even regardless of soft or hard solder?
I haven't dippped into silversmithing yet completely. So I'm only curious. I make knives and have wanted to try making spurs for a while now. But watching your stuff has me inspired to shift over from blades.

Do you mold the silver to solder on?

    • @wilsoncapron1891
      @wilsoncapron1891  ปีที่แล้ว

The better the silver fits the shape of the spur before you start soldering the better.
