    I buy gold and other assets on a dollar cost average schedule and then buy more as price and interest allow. If you want to know more about buying gold coins, that is my primary focus here. I talk a bit about cryptocurrency, mining stocks and other equities as well. Cheers!

    My crazy wife thinks I’m wasting money on “Those Coins”. She does not at all understand about the protecting our wealth theory, and has absolutely no interest in listening to, or learning about Gold (and Silver), so I just take it upon myself to continue to stack. To me, it has nothing to do with “collecting”, but instead it’s refocusing a misguided compulsion to collect, and taking advantage of the fact that I’m helping to preserve wealth for my son’s future. Regardless of how you get there, everyone should find their way to purchasing some Gold to insure your financial future.

      During my stacking "career" I did have to sell a few times to get out of a financial bind. The "silver" lining in that was it taught my wife that stacking precious metals is actually savings and not just "buying gold". She now appreciates me buying precious metals because it appreciates in value but she still thinks stacking is a "guy" thing. Women don't always respond to logic. Your wife is not crazy but women are "hard wired" differently, generally speaking.

    • @FamousJX
      @FamousJX ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This might sound crazy, but people should try and incorporate their wives more. Hear me out, marriage is a complicated thing, that typically benefits the woman more so than the man. So unless you’re keeping your gold/silver a secret, from your wife(in some cases that might be viable) you should try to show your wife the value, and not just talk at her. This might involve selling when the going gets tough or if an important “want” comes from the wife. Showing her that trip to Cabo was just a year or two of staking away. She might just join you in your passion.
      Please excuse the terrible grammar and sentence structure. I hope my point made it across ok.

    I made loads of mistakes. I overbought at the detriment to keeping money aside for emergencies and I bought on credit when I had no money, paying that off each month.

    I made A LOT of mistakes. First was not starting. I liked the idea of gold and silver in the late 90’s . Had I just started dollar cost averaging then, I would be killing it! However, no use in crying over spilt milk. Next was getting caught up in the frenzy. I chased it in 2010 and 2011 thinking it’s going to the moon. Then when it all came crashing down, I didn’t buy enough. I also got a little overzealous at the start of the pandemic, but caught myself quickly. Detaching myself from the fluctuations would have saved me from spending too much. In recent years I started dollar cost averaging in earnest. It has helped my averages tremendously. I track my averages closely now, and if I’m able to improve it, I may add a little more. Otherwise, I stick to regular dollar amounts, almost regardless of price. The only thing I watch more closely is premiums. If they’re too high, I won’t pay them. Like, right now, Eagle premiums are ridiculous. I’ll buy Maples or Britannias all day long, before I pay those crazy premiums. I’ve learned over time that while quality does matter, quantity matters more. Right now, I could buy 100 silver Britannias vs 82 Eagles. The gold is a little more reasonable, but fractional gets crazy, also. I could buy a 1/4 Britannia gold plus 3 silver Britannias, for the price of a 1/4 Eagle gold. In the short-term the buyback may help to have Eagles, but long term as prices rise and premiums change, the larger quantities are going to work hugely in your favor.

    I made some mistakes to start with. Bought more than I could afford and sold at a loss.
    Interestingly gold eagles sell easier here in the UK as they seem to be harder to find And more expensive from dealers.
    I love your videos and now I am stacking again, I am taking it slowly and buying small each month.
    Another thing, this habbit is making me change the way I spend. If I skip the coffee at the train station each day I can but another 1/10th oz each month.
    Keep the videos coming

    It takes an experienced stacker to take the calmer approach. This takes time through mistakes and accumulation. Although, I do find it interesting most beginner stackers have FOMO, which implies they are starting out after hearing someone tell them they NEED gold right NOW. I really like your video and think it's a must see for a new stacker. Well done.

    I also consider Roman gold coins to be a very interesting attraction - but so far have found the better condition ones to be very high in price. I already collect silver denarii - which are much more reasonably priced. Currently I am concentrating on trying to pick up an occasional English or colonial Spanish gold coin.
    EDIT - As a note - today (3 days after my comment) I finally was able to add an AU Elagabalus Denarius to my collection. A base silver coin of probably the most maligned Roman emperor of all time. I still prefer gold - but the Roman faces on silver make me smile.

    Let's try this again... I posted yesterday and it's gone.
    Great vid. Good to get the refresh/reset topic going. Sure we can scroll back to earlier vids of yours, but that was a few thousand subscribers ago.
    Looking at my stack since I have went the ¼oz a month route, I have found myself going between Phils, Maples, & Brittanias. Not by design, but by pricing. I am at 1 coin away each of completing an 1oz stack in ¼oz sizes. Once I do that maybe next (3oz a year) will be all ¼ Eagles.
    It might be a bit boring though. I do like the variety, which is why I jumped on a ¼ Lunar Perth Tiger early on. Of course when money allows it, I am going to get a Buffalo.
    Flying under the wifey radar is a very wise choice, though if you break out the "it's for our kid", it tends to keep things at bay. I'm sure there's hidden eye rolls that I am not privy to.
    Stay gold Pony Boy!

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Eagles got boring for me eventually, but I stuck with it out for about eight years. I think eventual boredom is what led to me swapping most of them up to 1 oz coins. That gave it another layer of interest. I'm not above using the, "it's for the kids" excuse either, by the way! 😅

    I’ve got very lucky with my gold purchasing meaning my gold has always done very well . Now my silver purchases not so much no I’m sitting on quite a bit. Once I get a chance I’ll sell off my silver and use those funds to buy gold . If silver ever go’s to 35 well that’s probably my time to switch or a 60:1 GSR
    As for my gold purchasing I just buy each paycheck to put up as a savings account . Great video sir

    I think the most important rule when starting is that you buy by dollar cost averaging. Every month the same quantity, you choose. For me it's average 1/4 ozt per month.
    I also look at the charts, most at 1week RSI and MACD. When price is undervalued, I buy 2-4x more that month. When RSI is high, I skip purchase.

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Makes good sense!

  • @VerticalStacker
    @VerticalStacker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    And from a “learn from my own mistakes” perspective, it is interesting how easy it is to get caught up in the FOMO when prices are rising. Sales don’t seem to slow down, even attaining feverish status with inventory shortages. Just like ammo, right? When there is none to be found, people are lined up every morning waiting for the doors to open to see if they can snag that one box limit for a price 30% higher than it was last year. Same thing happens at LCSs, when the price of metals increases, the buying frenzy hits. I’ve been there. Now, I just watch, wait and position. It means no purchase for months sometimes. That’s tough and doesn’t make for good (or any) videos, ahem, but observing the historical trends and disciplining the purchases and sales makes for a healthy stack.
    Now, it’s almost time to get rid of all that foreign gold! Hmmm, maybe it’s time for a video on what I have left. As always, good to see you my friend.

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, Vert! Ammo is a great analogy. Any sudden price hike and even the fear of scarcity translates directly into value for most people. Your current patience is always good to hear about because you're already at a certain level. If you're shuffling the stack up to change out the long term value I think that would be a great video. Make it so!!! 🤜🤛

    New to the channel within about a month now, I’ve watched quite a few videos and truly appreciate your thorough explanation and thought process. You’ve mentioned eBay a few times in your videos, which of course led me there to see what’s out there, then when I came back to TH-cam, I came across a video titled “Never but good from eBay!” And the theory from it came from a client of his who owned a restaurant for 40 years, purchased gold every month, had well over a million in gold, his wife came down with a terminal illness, he went to go sell some gold to pay for the treatment and ended up finding out every piece of gold he owned was fake! He continued with the rest of the story but I’m sure you’ve been doing this long enough, you have your specific places you purchase from, but was/is that ever a fear of yours? Especially buying from a 3rd party like eBay? Do you somehow check every coin when it arrives to confirm it’s real? That story opened my eyes up pretty wide! Thanks again for all you do with your channel, it’s all very helpful!

    In my opinion, I buy in hopes of stacking tens of thousands of dollars worth of gold, with the intention of a down payment towards my first home. So far it has worked out better than saving fiat. Only thing is, is it not smart to be buying gold nuggets? Most of my gold is 0.5g- 2gram nuggets, some gold coins, and a few large nuggets (13g)
    Should I continue to accumulate nuggets? Or start buying coins? My reason for nuggets are they are natural in appearance, and I can usually get more bang for my buck (13g nugget for $900, etc.) Thanks for ur time! Love ur channel

I am new to the PM world and have spent the last 5 years paying off all debt... no credit card bills, no house payment, no car/truck payments. After I paid off my pickup, I talked my wife into "letting" me take the money that was going to the payment and buy gold and silver with it. The first purchase I made were some silver coins from the Island Nation of Niue (Hawksbill Turtles). My wife has a thing for turtles, so I thought this would be an easy sell to get her onboard with PMs. She loved the coins until she saw the $2 stamped on them.... big mistake! My wife just could not get her head around the fact that I paid $28 for a $2 coin. I should have bought a generic round or bar - no face value. Thank you again for the information on your channel!

    I think you should do a video on sales tax on gold purchases. There are a couple important issues. 46 states now have some type of tax on gold purchases, and in some states that 6% to 8%. Sales tax is like an additional premium on purchases. It makes me wonder if the overhead for buying gold is becoming so high that stacking will go out of favor? The second issue that makes me crazy is that gold purchases are re-taxed every time they’re re-sold by a dealer. In other words I pay tax when I buy it. At some point down the road I’ll sell it back to a dealer. The dealer will then charge tax again when he/she re-sells it. And the tax probably continues to rise as the value of the gold rises (unlike buying and selling cars which have a diminishing value). I don’t see how states justify charging tax on an investment - unless they’re trying to discourage people from buying gold.

As I would like to invest soon (long term), I remember that you said in one of your previous video that price above1800$ is a bit to high to purchase now. Would be reasonable to wait. But, gold price increases every day and seems to be high next summer. So, I wonder what would you advise for someone who wants to start now? Buy now or wait a bit?

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Today's prices spiked from CPI numbers. My guess (and that's all it is) is that they will come down a bit next month. I'm personally holding to see what happens over the next two days (close of market). There's price resistance at $1,830. If the price is still above that at the end of the week, it could continue to climb. I'm personally holding out to see if it drops back below $1,800.

    the price you pay for gold that you are comfortable with has a lot to do with when you started buying. i started in the late 1960's early 1970's and bought gold coins from $35 to $95 a ounce. so paying $1800 a ounce for gold seems stupid at this time but if you do not trust the dollar and the gov't gold is cheap. the only thing i would add about your video is new buyers should buy ngc or pcgs slabbed gold coins only. over the years i have seen many fake gold coins and at auctions slabbed gold bullion coins bring the same as raw coins and do not get caught up in this ms70 or pr70 B.S. in a pinch or bad times gold is gold!!! like your video by the way!!!!

    • @2is1gold

      The advice of buying slabbed coins only…No Freaking Way! Total waste of money. Most NEW bullion coins purchased directly from reputable online (or LCS’s) dealers can almost all be graded a 69 or 70. All you’re paying for is the plastic slab, and bring those coins to your LCS in a pinch, and you’re gonna find they don’t offer much more than a raw AGE.

    Can you tell me why it costs more to buy a 2021 1/4oz. American Gold Eagle Coin BU (priced at $654.20) than it is to buy a 2019 1/4oz. Gold American Eagle Coin BU (priced at $520.98)? Does it make a bit of a difference when you go and sell? Looks like buying based on year matters? But in a few years, the 2021 coin will be where 2019 is at now in terms of pricing, right? All coins will eventually be ‘older’ over time.
    I also noticed the 2022 AGE BU type 2 is cheaper than then the Type 1. Is it because the demand for Type 1 is more? Again, when going to sell, will it matter? Thank you.

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  2 ปีที่แล้ว
