I always loved Space Wolves. The aesthetic, the viking lore, the brotherly bonds between the packs. I had no idea the people who played them had such a reputation. Every story you tell about Space Wolf players makes my skin crawl.
A guy can't normally enjoy Space Viking Werewolves in these degenerate times.
There are plenty of good lads who play Space Wolves, they just have a rep as a faction because an alarming amount of annoying 'those guys' seem to play them. Don't let that spoil it for you, though, they need more top guys playing them.
@@northernexile I am currently teaching a new player how to play 10th with my Space Wolf combat patrol. It's a shame my favorite legion has so many weirdos in it. You'd think the Viking Warrior cliche would attract more gigachads.
Hate the rep as im building a small army of space wolves for the reason you listed above, mind you i also have a black templar influenced army of my own making, and suggested to my son crimson fists, i also have a tyranid army so yeah seems space wolf players fit into 2 camps, the laid back veterans (been in the hobby since rogue trader) or the cringy neckbeard sweaty types

Rhys is a legend, I used to frequent a gaming store in my early teens I was sexually harassed by the owner in full view and earshot of the entire club on multiple occasions. I would have given anything for someone to step in and help me. whenever I stood up for myself I was laughed off by him and some of the other patrons would laugh at me. It wasn't until I got into my later 20s that I took up playing at clubs again. I really hope everyone is brave if they witness behaviour like that and intervenes.
I am sorry to hear that. My little sister and me started in the hobby at about the same time. Being the good older brother I was a bit alert but never saw anything. She was the only girl. After hearing many women tell stories like yours I asked her years later. Fortunately her time in the store was extremely positive. We consider it a very fun and happy part of our childhood. I don't know what time this happened but at least in our little town in the Netherlands in the 2000s it was very pleasant. Wargames is still mostly guys sadly but at least the DnD crowd has almost become 50/50 which has been a very pleasant surprise. Damn were the ladies in my last group bloodthirsty...

Like, I would call myself a pretty decent player and can usually give most people advice, but I always ask something along the lines of "Hey, would you like some advice on how to improve your list/gameplay?"

I've been in the hobby for almost 30 years. I've never seen a woman playing the game ever in person. I see them on TH-cam and what not but never in person. I've seen plenty of awkward looking girlfriends being dragged around but never playing.
That first story is very similar to mine, though I've only started doing something about it recently, back in November 2020 I was a truck driver and have been for 6-ish years, but I developed heart failure and the left side was only operating at 15% of what it should be, due to that I had many other effects like water in the lungs and all the fun stuff that came with it, I just thought I was getting tired and overworked (I was a little 15 hours shift 2 days then 13 hour shifts for another 3 to 4 days every week can do that) luckily my vision got a little blurry in my left eye so I got an appointment with an opticians the same day and thankfully they sent me for an ink in the eye test (idk the terminology) but after that passed just before I walked out they said we shall good a blood pressure test 215 over 185, I was blue lighted to the hospital and spent 2 weeks in there. Lost my HGV licence thus my job, I was off work for 2 years recovering from this, I put on over 30kg in that time, I'm getting back into the hobby with help from my local hobby store who I've got them to stock Warhammer and setting up spaces and I even built a battle table for this which will be used for the first time on the 15th with 4 people now having 1000 point armies ready to go, but now my mental health is getting better I need to get the physical side back to how I was before all this. support for me was non existent unfortunately, due to my young age (34 at the time) the NHS couldn't offer me any help so I've had to claw my way out of this hole myself, so in short that guy is not alone, they're others recovering in their own way and I hope he gets to where he wants to be quickly

I know a lot of people will disagree, but I'm going to say it anyways. Being depressed is a chemical imbalance in your body. The best way to combat that is to exercise and eat better food. I have involuntarily tested this the past couple years and I can confirm it's true. Hope this helps.

Its not that parents these days want their boys to play with barbie and girls to play with GI Joe, its that we millenial/liberal/*insert derogatory term for young person* parents actually talk to our children, listen, consider and value their thoughts and opinions.
