How to Draw Realistic Fake Eyebrows

Whether you’ve lost your eyebrows due to alopecia (like me!), chemotherapy treatment for cancer, trichotillomania, or another form of hair loss, this is the most realistic way of using makeup to draw eyebrows is to create this simple 3D effect of fine fake “hairs” over powder.
Step-by-step, this tutorial will show you how to:
Use eyeshadow to create a natural-looking base for fake brows
Feather in light fake “hairs” using a waterproof liner pen
Seal fake brows to make them even more water/sweat resistant

I came across your tutorial today, and I want to say thank you! I lost my eyebrows last year and I’ve had to draw on my eyebrows. After I watched your tutorial, I ordered some products from Target. Hello. You are wonderful. So full of positive energy. It was a pleasure to watch you create your brows. You made it look easy. I will buy the same products and try, what I can do. I lost my brows and parts of my hair during chemotherapy 15 yrs ago. Luckily not my lashes, - not those thick ones I used to have, but I have thinner long lashes. My brows now are very thin and the one on the left looks even sparser than the other one. The main thing is to be healthy, so I am not complaining. You know, in a way it is perhaps easier to draw all those lines when there are no hairs left at all. My thin
ones have single small hairs growing the wrong way and thus I need to glue them firmly. Keep smiling, there could be bigger problems. Let us be happy to suffer from ups and downs in life. You look beautiful and have a smile like a film star. If I was a man, I would lose my heart. So, please, stay happy.

I just shaved mine off bc I kept pulling.. but now when I get euebro2 stubble, I get really transfixed and grab a tweezer and start pulling like that. 😠
i started shaving my eyebrows off about half a year ago? i’ve always used pens for the realistic hairstroke, but recently the newer pen i’ve bought is just too dark for me... but then i realized how you’re holding your pen, and i thought that was a really good idea!!! i’ve always used too much pressure and they end up being really dark. thank you for this tutorial! :,)
Dear Carly, THANK YOU for your very clear tutorials...even an old lady like me (68 yrs. young!) can follow this easily:) I feel so bad that a wonderful lady like you suffers from alopecia...I had it for a while due to a bad diet, lost 100# and my hair too!!..lol..fortunately, with the help of Rogaine, I now have hair back, even if thin. You are absolutely beautiful! Your inner beauty, confidence, and personality oozes all over the screen. Excellent tutorial. Not surprised that even docs are fooled. I have FFA with some eyebrow hair left but am finding it more difficult to work around the few hairs left (some are gray and some blackish color). I have wondered if it would be easier to be like Jenna Marbles and just shave them completely off and draw them on from scratch so I don't have to worry about blending everything together for a natural look. Your video makes me more tempted.

I also LOVE your technique!I have a few questions: 1) I'm really battling to find the right shade for my brows.Before I lost my hair, my natural hair colour was jet black, including my eyelashes and eyebrows.However, my skin has always been pale. My eyes are also a very dark brown.However, I have tried using both a brown-black shadow, and it looks very unnatural on me.It looks too light, but when I apply even the slightest amount of black to darken it, it looks too dark.Gray eyeshadow powder looks even worse.Even though my skin is pale, it has warm undertones, so a brownish black should look natural, but it just doesn't. How do I find the right shade, given the contrast between my natural jet-black hair colour and my pale but warm skin tone? 2) Do you have an Instagram account? If so, please let me know what it's called. I opened my Instagram account two weeks ago, and would love to follow you, especially because I'm looking to do a photo shoot in a month or two, and I'm looking for some style inspiration. 3) What skincare products do you use? You have the most incredible skin!
@@AndreaAltgayer thank you so much for this! Here are my answers:
1) Dolly Wink actually do a BLACK pen too --which I discovered when I ordered it totally by mistake from Amazon, and started feathering it OVER my DW brown pen! It creates darker eyebrows and it looks really great. I would recommend you order that, still use a dark brown shadow as your base brow color, and then layer brown pen then black pen over the top for a look that will hopefully be more natural!
2) I do -- my IG is @teacupinthebay! I don't post much straight beauty stuff there, it's basically my adventures in nice landscapes and silly pictures of me and/or my dog. Enjoy!
3) You are so kind -- the acne-plagued teen on antibiotics I used to be would be SO thrilled to hear this! I use Cetaphil cleanser with a hot muslin cloth, followed by some 5% glycolic acid toner, Benton's Snail Bee Essence, whatever rich moisturizer is floating my boat these days (I'm liking Neutrogena's Water Gel thing) and then ALWAYS 50+ SPF (I like Cosrx's Aloe Vera formula or Neutrogena's Clear Skin.) Used to be oily af, now I'm drying out as I get older, so extra moisture from drinking tons of water during the day is key for me right now.
You are so kind Sandy! I would probably pluck rather than shave to reduce skin irritation, but I totally get where you're coming from -- it's weirdly easier to recreate the whole shebang from scratch rather than working around what you have left! I'd be interested to know what you decide. Fwiw, my OG brows were (I think) way too low on my face. Now I get to draw 'em on where I want! Win :)

they look so great! i can’t wait to try them out, i’ve been having alopecia and been using immune suppressants for the past 3 years but i stopped and i’m losing my eyebrows again, i’m a guy and it’s difficult because i’ve never done makeup but i’m getting used to it, honestly faking it is much better than poking yourself with needles every month

Thank you for a well done demonstration and offering great tips on applying eyebrows. I can say the same thing for your video on applying false eyelashes. I used to have thick eyebrows and long, thick eyelashes when I was younger, but as I have aged, my eyelashes have thinned out significantly and I have lost my eyebrows. Anyway, I now have found a way to make my false eyebrows look more natural.

I just found your vide to ionight. I have been scouring the internet for months looking for a way to apply false eyelashes without them looking ridiculous. Unfortunately I'm a natural redhead who is getting older and the color is fading and I have always had translucent eyebrows and eyelashes so since I was young I have been using eyebrow makeup and eyelash makeup etc but was never really able to wear false eyelashes. As I am aging now I am losing more and more of my eyelashes and eyebrows and I find that the amount of makeup that I can add to them isn't really helping so I decided to look into false eyelashes. Your tutorial was so helpful that I believe that I may be able to do it successfully now. I have some so much money into different applications and products that it's ridiculous. Thank you thank you thank you for your very detailed tutorial I am going to try each and every one of your tips tonight and see if I can get it and if it doesn't come out right the first time I will keep trying thank you so much for your time dedication and easily understood tutorial.❤😂🎉

Just lost my hair due to chemo, so far, my brows and lashes are not falling out, but assume they will....loved your video, so encouraging, helpful and reassuring. I wonder how you remove all the eyebrow make up, especially since you use the lacquer?? I usually use a gentle make up remover pad, but don't want to leave any greasy residue as you mentioned. What is your removal technique an what products do you use. I'm pretty basic, soap and water....thank you so much for these posts.

Question: I have very blond eyebrows and they are very sparse what little hairs I do have should be waxed. Should I wax off all of my eyebrows first then use these products to draw them on or do you suggest not to wax them off ?

I agree about stencils. I’m struggling cause now at 70 I’ve got vertical fine wrinkles right up through my eyebrow area. I pull skin ever so slightly brush outside towards nose helps but a real struggle. Yes lacquer helps. Your so gorgeous ❤

It stays on all day AND all night! I wouldn't rub them or anything BUT they're pretty durable. I still carry my eyebrow pen around with me in case of any accidents ;) xo

Thanks for this. You look superb...Forgive me for a silly question, but I also have alopecia and have just started with a hair system. I am working up courage to try and re-install it myself. Ideally I'd like to make easily removable marks on my forehead as to where to re-position it. Could you recommend the best sort of thing to do this? Would any eyebrow pencil do the trick? thanks

I lost all my hair to alopcia areata universalis in 2008. I just came across your videos looking into how to wear fake lashes without having any lashes of my own. My question is do you still use the dolly wink for your eyebrows? If not what else have you found.

Hi, I've already watched this video several times. You do such an amazing job making your eyebrows! They really do look real. I was wondering what kind of laquer you use and where can you buy it? I looked in the description box for it but didn't see it. Could you maybe edit that info into your post? I would so appreciate it. I' m not sure of the problem I have but they've become almost nonexistent. And my hair started falling out due to medication for RA. When I researched it I found out it was actually a cancer med and I quit taking it right then and refused any more meds similar to it. Thanks in advance!

Hey beautiful!I'm just curious.Have you ever considered microblading?If not, why not? Some people have suggested it to me, and I've considered it to save time, but I'm not too sure about it, because the idea of tattooing eyebrows on my face scares me.It looks great on some people, but I'm scared that it might not look as natural on me. I haven't ruled it out completely, but I'm not 100% sure about it either. Your technique is amazing!Thanks!

I loved your video, but I do have a question. I love how you do your brows with two different components. The brown shadow I have, no problem there, but when it comes to an eyeliner pen.....Im not sure what color to get since most eyeliners aren't light in color. My real eyebrows are a light brown. I only have the very front of the brow. If they were punctuation marks, they would be upside down commas. So I need my "drawn on brow" to be pretty close in color. Any suggestions??? I currently use an eyebrow pencil, but it just looks like crap. See through in some areas, dark in others and it comes off so easily. Your suggestion would be appreciated!!!!

You are amazing! I've got alopecia too but can you maybe make a video how you do your eye look? With the eyeliner/wing and fake eyelashes? All videos I have seen are from people with eyelashes and that makes it more easier than when you don't have them

Great job very helpful i hate not having eyebrows and my lack of eyebrows was self inflicted if only I’d known 20 yrs ago they wouldn’t ever grow back maybe I wouldn’t have shaved them off still to this day I struggle putting them on! Thank you for your video great job

Thanks for this tutorial, funny thing all of my sisters have the fullest eyebrow however I’m the only one who wasn’t blessed with beautiful full eyebrows. Just yesterday they were suggesting I get them done permanently tattooed, first of all needles and I do get along, needles to say I will be giving this a try

Do you use lashes? I don't have any and what I use poke my eyes. The tip of lash pokes and hurts
Or possibly the glue isn't sticking well. I've tried several glues, they stuck but seem to move or sick too high on lid. I need super fast dry. All I try get tacky after awhile and move
Any suggestions?
