Only true Goosebumps fans will realize how clever this movie really is. All the easter eggs and references to the books are absolutely awesome! First off, we have the main character Zach who shares the name with the main character in the book, "The Blob that Ate Everyone". In the book, Zach has a magic type writer and when he writes stories on it, the stories come to life! Not only is that the same type writer in the movie, but just like book Zach, movie Zach has to finish the story to save the town. Then we have the more obvious character, Hannah who shares the name of Hannah from the book "The Ghost Next Door". Both book Hannah and movie Hannah are friendly ghosts who befriend the neighbor boy and do everything in their power to help him. Other Easter eggs throughout the film include the coo-coo clock of doom in Stine's basement from "The Coo-coo Clock of Doom" book or the shrunken heads briefly visible in his cabinet from the book "How I Got my Shrunken Head". Then, of course, there is the obvious awesome cameo of the real R. L. Stine at the end where he and Jack Black swap names. I love this movie so much!
Yeah, that is one thing that stuck out to me, mate! Like, Champ goes "I READ WHAT IT DID TO PASADENA! IT'S NO JOKE, MAN!" And I'm just sitting there like, "Yeah, I read about that too.
