When he visited USA three decades back in LA, a group of local Bengali people felt they owned the artist, and located his performance in a terrible location (good auditorium but in a remote place). Hardly there were a few dozen in the audience, but that did not deter this great artist. He played only three ragas, two them nearly two hours each (I think it was Puriya and Kafi). Superb musician. His Malkauns is also amongst my top hundred of all time.
+Devavrata Singh Thakur .....You are so right my friend. I unfortunately was not aware of Mr. Banerjee in his life but I love him so much. He speaks to me in so many ways and now after hearing your story I am so happy that he is what I thought he was. God Bless.
thats so inspiring...such humility...its sad how we Indians fail to celebrate his legacy with a fervour his eminence commands vis a vis (say a) Pt Ravi Shankar's..both served the same cause but were so unalike in their approach
Devashish Pande i agree. somehow i have always felt that pt ravi played to the gallery while nikhilda was mire devoted to his craft. thats why i always feel his pwrformances touch the heart more. while pt ravi always felt clinical.
Rashmi Bhatt exactly. hearing him and other grwats like ravi shankar and vilyat khan my vote is always in favor of nikhilda. somehow his music touches your core in a way others cannot.
shastrokar says it has been rendered for the fourth quarter of the night . it is a late night raga . Me seems mystic nd divine beyond my words . ...some times whn i look through experiencing this distinct tune of this sweet melodic melancholy , reminds me of the absurdity of life and it's Emptiness . ...
Though Wikipedia says it's a late night raga, much like it's relatives Malkauns and Jogkauns, but Chandrakauns sounds best from late night till midnight. It's best suited for the second "prahar" of the night, that is from 9pm-12am. Because it sets the ambience full of anxiety and despondency that is calmed by the majestic Shringar rasaa of late night Ragas like Darbari Kanada, Bihag going down to Bhairavi played at daybreak
It's very difficult to explain Nikhil Babu's playing. Before commenting you have to have a minimum lavel understanding or can say musical maturity. Purity of Raga , more than aesthetic, direct connection to Supreme power, zero showoff , precision... Pranam Pandit ji.
NAMASKAR Maestro NIKHIL BANERJEE ❤🙏❤ you are always with us deep in our hearts. One of the finest SITAR player ever. 🙏 JAI SARASWATI KI JAI 🙏

You are right seriously you are lover of classical music
Excellent.
Why does this sitar have such a thin neck... And where do I get one?
It's a drawing. And it's at an angle.
Why would you want a thin fret board?
Excellent .
