Great video, Nicolas! It was really interesting to see the house. It'd be awesome if you have more opportunity to show National Trust locations in the future! Love your travel vlogs.
I love seeing the stately homes and manors. The architecture is beautiful. Joining the trust is important to help these places survive. Lester is a cutie!
Dear Nicholas This is the first time I'm commenting on your channel, shame on me. I love watching you. Why? Because I always feel so good watching you. I love the music, your voice, your visits to stately homes and how you're keeping alive the table settings around English tea. I'm an old soul and love the old way of living even though I was born in the 1960's😊. If I could I would send you this little note in a letter with a wax seal. Thank you for having such a beautiful channel.❤❤Natalie
Wow the ceilings were just stunning Such work gone into them ! Yes very sad when the upkeep of our heritage stately homes slip esp with the cost of things these days the National Trust are wonderful in what they do ! Thank you for sharing ❤
Just wandering along with you on your daily activities is a pleasure and informative. Never apologize for a disappointing interior. The National Trust instead, demonstrates how much of an effort it is to maintain these great houses and their contributions to the UK’s unique history. You are a godsend to so many people the world over during these dark and troubled times.🇨🇦😊
On special days, I often bake cookies and share them with the loved ones around me. Especially if we have the opportunity to go back and visit home. Cookies are a wonderful gift to any home...💖
Hello Nicolas! Thank you for taking us along for your visit to your family. My Mother died of Breast Cancer in 2020, and I do miss her terribly. She hid her disease and hospitalization from family until close to the end, thinking she was protecting us from reality. Enjoy your parents while you have them. I pray that your Mom completely recovers from her surgery. Your Christmas Tea was a huge success at our house last year, and I will definitely be ordering again closer to December. Much ❤from Canada 🇨🇦! A
So sad to hear about your mother. It is so hard to lose ones mother and like you I still miss mine after many years. I wish you a very happy Christmas with beautiful memories.
@@NicolasFairford Thank you for your best. Your video content, interiors, baking, tea, books, architecture... all remind me of the best of my Mom. Your trick of adhesiveless, bow tied, Christmas wrapped presents was also one of her's. I love your British ways; Mom's Mom was, and though she died when I was very young, I see your manners in things reenacted by my Mom. You help me reconnect with the British part of my heritage; and I am very grateful for you. God Bless and ❤ Andrew
Lester is adorable and his snoring is cute. Lol. The cookies looked delicious. It must have been so deflating and sad for the families that used to live in houses as that one to have to give it up. Thanks for the visit. Its crazy how empty a home feels when your fur baby isn't around.
I love all your videos 😍 …. specially where you cook 👨🍳 …. even more specifically …. where you bake 🫶 …. I always bake your recipes … n this one … isn’t be the exception 👍 Thanks 😊
If you ever visit Los Angeles you must visit the Huntington Library, Museum, and Botanical Gardens. It was the estate of Henry Huntington who made his fortune building the railroads in Southern California, particularly the Red Car trolleys that used to run throughout the city. It would be interesting to see this estate, from someone who spent his fortune buying those artifacts from the decaying estates in England. Huntington’s most notable acquisitions are probably the famous painting of Gainsborough’s Blue Boy and the Ellesmere manuscript of the Canterbury Tales. The gardens are also exquisite and quite varied, including English, Japanese, and Chinese gardens.
How lovely this video was, so nice to see you baking at your sister’s home and that wonderful home tour was very interesting. It is sad when these places have had the furniture removed and I agree we must preserve these beautiful places and keep them maintained for our enjoyment. The tea sounds fantastic. The scenery you filmed as wonderful. I feel the same way when I come home from spending time away from my flat and the silence after being with others. Take care.
Another enjoyable glimpse into your life, Nicolas. I especially liked the brief scenes from your train journey back to Edinburgh. Wishing you all the very best, as always.
Beautiful Nicholas and the cookies looked so delicious and cold just see your nieces face when she got home and saw the cookies! She probably was thinking about it, off and on all day! Looking forward to her uncle making them for her! Your sisters home looks lovely, that is a nice kitchen to bake or cook in, so it seems. Lord Lichfield's apartment would have been so fabulous am sure with the furnishings in it. A lovely mansion. I enjoyed the tour and no apologies, as it was really nice as it was! Did enjoy it and looking around even the land and how beautiful it was on that day to take the tour. I too have considered helping by being part of the National Trust by joining it. As do see how beneficial it would be to keep up all these lovely homes. If no one does, they will be ruined quickly. They do start taking a toll faster than people think. Thank you, Nicholas!
Go and visit Attingham park next time you stay at your sister's about same travelling time but towards Shrewsbury , well worth a visit and also Moseley old hall as well is worth a visit Shugborough is fab at Christmas ❤
Lovely pictures and the house in such beautiful memories. Nice job well deserved. Lovely day and it's beauty. The trees and the grass it's so nice and calm . God bless you today Nicolas you and your family. My prayers for Mom too may God bless her.
We have NT membership, but have never ventured as far as Shugborough Hall and having 3 very young children and living in North Nottinghamshire, it's not likely to be top of our list for a few years yet, but it is defintely one for the future.
Nicolas, thank you again. After a long and tiring day, I was welcomed by your relaxing and enjoyable video. I love seeing your tours in stately homes and through the beautiful English countryside. You have the gift of bringing out the best in life. Your warm and friendly personality is the "icing on the cake", or should I say the pumpkin cookies! All the best from NYC, Robert.
Thanks for the tour of Shugborough. I was there a number of years ago and enjoyed it immensely. The National Trust sites are wonderful and I have been to quite a few when I have visited from Canada. I love the walled gardens that so many of the historic homes have. This year I saw Hardwick House and Calke Abbey as well as Tamworth Castle (not a National Trust site) where they had some of the Staffordshire Horde. The history in the UK is wonderful. Glad your niece liked your cookies and you had a good family visit. Enjoy your trip.
Wonderful Video !! Beautiful Countryside. Such A Soothing And Relaxing Atmosphere. Thank You For Showing Us Beautiful Places And The Cookies Look So Delicious. Lucky Pup.
Wonderful video! Omg Lester is the cutest!! Loved the house tour too. Would you be able to feature some of the conservators of these houses and/or the gardeners? Would love to hear about what they do and also a bit more about how one conserves an older house and maybe if any of the garden plants are original, etc.
One of my favourite things to do on holiday is to visit a stately home, it’s so wonderful to wander around amongst all the opulence and for a while, imagine that you are the owner of such a wonderful residence!
WOW! they did a nice repair job on that vase!!!😳 Charming place!❤ Love the sheep. Notice how they have a mirror that goes all the way up to the ceiling.
Dear Nicholas, your video is great as usual. Thanks for being there. I know the feeling about getting back to an empty home ...well that is life. Keep safe. Kisses and hugs. Luisa😊
Oh Nicholas thank you for the tour! I absolutely LOVE the library! Libraries are my favorite place to be in older homes. I've always wanted an older home with a grand library. I'd rather a library than a living room.
If you happen to visit the East of England there is a beautiful National Trust Jacobean house near Cambridge. There is a lot to see there as the gentleman who owned it up until 1966 (he left it to the NT in his will) had vast collections of paintings, books, tapestries, sculptures and silverware. It is also fully furnished with the original furnishings, the reason being, he wanted the house to be seen as it was, as he lived. That was one of the conditions if it was to be bequeathed to the NT. It wasn’t a case of running out of money, he died at the age of 69 and the house is where he lived most of the year. Anyway, it’s stunning. I think you would enjoy visiting.
Thank you for another great video! I loved the tour and the recipe on the cookies. I want to make those. And i agree on the landscape...i tink it is a Capability Brown landscape. I have been watching a lot of videos and reading about him. I loved his casual style concept but ironically, it was a lot of work to create a more natural landscape. And I actually still have a full pouch of your tea and had a cup last night before bed. It is so comforting! I will be ordering more as I was thinking last night how I needed more for the holiday! I have also had the flu as the weather here in Richmond, VA has turned cold so your tea is perfect!!!! Thank you Nicolas...and safe travels to see your friend. I know you miss Sophie...and Lester is a cute doggie too! 🤗
Those are real organic eggs. Beautiful orange yolks. I m in Holland and can't find any like that. Used to get in South Africa. The cookies look delicious 🥰 thanx for the tour Nicolas.

Well, tbh I can't say it wouldn't be nice to own a few marble busts to sell when I need some money! 🤣 I love to look through the windows at the view when I'm in these historic, stately homes, just as you did with your camera. It's fun to think that you're looking through a window that's been looked through for centuries and often at views that remain what they once were! I love that you were naughty and gave us a glimpse of the apartment! It's nice to hear about your nice time with your mother. 😊

Hi, I live close to shugborough and have visited many times. When Patrick died his son took much of the furniture and art. It looks very empty now. Still a beautiful house.
I liked the tour of Shugborough Hall, even if it was a work in progress, that library was fantastic! I live in the states and know nothing about how the monarchy does their day to day life. I didn't realize that private apartment meant they didn't live in the big part of the house, I didn't make the connection until you said William and Kate. I assumed private apartments were for the groundskeeper. Thanks for the explanation. Looking forward to more of these videos!
