- In this video I discuss which DAW controller I would recommend buying at various budgets. I have personally owned a great deal of DAW controllers over the years and have a good grasp of which are worth the money.

For your budget category, arguably not a true DAW controller but Softube Console 1 + Console 1 Fader essentially competes with the SSL UC1/UF8 combos. Has the advantage of multiple emulations of channel strips, compressors, gates etc on a modular basis plus UAD "Apollo Central" functions.
I’ve always enjoyed the console 1.

You know what the S3 totally slipped my mind. I always said as a DAW controller I would go S1 over S3 but since using the S4 I would maybe more consider the S3 over the S1 for the Eucon control. The S3 is clearly better than the S1, price tells us this. But do you need all the extra functionality of the S3. This question requires a full video comparison between the S1 S3 and S4.
Great video thanks! I once owned an SSL Nucleus 1 and found it to be of high quality. Really enjoyed it. Only drawback was the UTP connectivity. Now I use the iCon Qcon Pro G2 with Extender, which I am very satisfied with. With the SSL UF8 I find the faders and buttons a bit loose. What do you think of the Avid S3? I am thinking about that. Just doubting about Eucon in combination with Cubase or Logic.
Yes connectivity was a bit of faff. Yes I found the exact same thing. I did a direct comparison to the nucleus and UF8 controller and came to the exact same conclusion you did.
If the s3 is anything like the S4 just a smaller version which it technically is it’ll be brilliant. The S4 for me is the best tool in my studio. I can not speak more highly of it. Obviously way over priced and stupid money. The s3 is basically a cut down version.
