Hello Adam, Larissa, Hayley and Joe, we have thoroughly enjoyed following your adventures so will be sad when you're no longer travelling. As a couple of 'seniors', we'd like to offer the following advice: keep going as long as you can. Once home you will find it hard to do it again as life keeps getting in the way. The chance to travel again while Hayley and Joe are still so young may not present itself again. Take a short break somewhere south, try not to worry about the Covid19 stuff, (whether you're travelling, or at home Covid19 is still going to be an issue). Enjoy this precious time together. One day you'll look back at your videos and think/say, 'Yes, we did that!". Do it now! Good luck, and happy travels.
Thanks Therese for the great advice. I don't know how this trip will end, but one things for sure, we will always be travelling this epic country. We do need a holiday from the holiday, and get everything reset and 100% again. We are definitely going south soon, it's way to hot up here
We think if you can, keep it going a little longer because once home it is harder to get motivated again. We like the fact that you do it on a budget. Fuel food water as you say are essential, the rest take it or leave it. Adam you look tired so by experience take a week or few days somewhere and recharge your battery. In the bush of course. We have done a bit of it but not equipped for ruff roads. Still enjoyed it all. You need to see the outback to believe it. See you in your next episode, we enjoyed them all. CHEERS.
Yeah I'm feeling pretty tired, it's been a amazing adventure but requires a big effort to keep the show on the road. And with the temps heating up and a early wet season predicted we fell the extra pressure to keep moving and get south. But the south sounds a little uninviting right now.
great episode! we did a kimberey trip just before Covid started. you are so lucky to keep the travel going. we decided to split the big lap into pieces, since we are living overseas in europe but have our loved Troopy with us 😀 every time we visit our family and friends in australia we do a piece of the lap, I think the whole would be too much of impressions at a time and would make it difficult to come back to daily live....
Great episode guys! Dont be too hard on the old GQ, you have to admit you've really put it through its paces, and even though the GQ is a legendary turf old car, it is still an older car. I have an older 4runner myself, love the older cars to pieces, but the older cars will still have their moments!
Yeah it's a great truck and we've seen a lot of newer vehicles with some serious issues too. I guess it's just been the really bad roads causing havoc with the gear. But the old girl just fires up every morning and keeps going. Thanks Warren
Great episode guys. The word spectacular doesn't do the Bungle Bungles justice. Just wow!!! 🤩 As for whether to keep going: I want you to keep going so I can continue to enjoy your adventures. However, that is just focusing on what I want. If you go back home, you can get your car all fixed and pick up your pup but then again, that means you can't visit national parks if you have a dog. So there are many things to consider. No matter what you decide, thank you for allowing us all to tag along with you on your wonderful adventure. 😎
Thanks Paul, it's a really hard call, but either way we will always travel every chance we get. I guess we'll have to sit down with the kids and decide soon
Adam and family, another fantastic episode! You and your family are having once in a lifetime moments together travelling Australia and taking us along for the ride. Grab your dog, keep going and see the other parts which you have missed and enjoy the time you all have together. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks Peter, we would really to, but it's way to hot in the north and a early wet is predicted so we got to start moving south, which is a little nerve racking right now. I guess we'll call it when we are a little further down the road
Absolute epic trip, something that you both and the kids can look back on in years to come. I may be a bit biased owning a GUTD42 how ever beside the dodgy parts the patrol has held up well. I wouldn’t do the trip in anything other then a patrol. Things may rattle or break and it’s an easy fix. Modern vehicle, call a specialist mechanic and a tow truck. In regards to extending the trip, do it while you have the chance. You may never get another opportunity like the present time. As for the dog, either freight him to where you are or he’ll be just as eager to see you in a another month or 2’s time. As for the snow trip, that sounds awesome.
Thanks Conelli, it's just a little disappointing when things keep cropping up, but if we didn't want anything to break we should have stuck to the black top, and miss all these epic places. I shouldn't complain, it's totally worth it!
If you go home you won’t come back as kids have issues that will interfere with life that you need to do while young. You need to have slow days of just R & R in one beautiful area where there’s a swimming hole. The kids would be happy & you guys can rest too. Gibb River Rd awesome. Have only done flight over Bungle Bungles not walks so want to get back there. Go do more of Kimberley Coast & up to Mitchell Plateau & Kalumburu. Do the trip up out of Broome to Cape Leveque & into Hammersley Ranges. Hope you’ve been up to the Cape & out through western QLD.
It’s so hard to settle back into ‘the norm’, I would grab the dog, take your time and continue your travels, what have you got to lose and you’ll never regret it! Continue making family memories 😊 On another note, thank you taking the time to share your journey, love your episodes 🤩
Thanks Jakz for the support. It's been such a amazing adventure and we would love to do exactly that. We'll have to decide soon because the wet season is coming soon and its a little ify in the south
Great episode again guys. Loved the drone shots. Issues seem to be building up with the vehicle. Hopefully you can get them sorted. As for extending the trip I would say if you can afford to extend and your heart is still in it all, and everyone keen, then why not. Once your back at work it can be hard to get away for a decent length of time.
Yeah there is a few things that really need attention but it's been so hard getting parts in the top of WA. It's crazy that it's a extra 3 weeks wait for something compared to Katherine just over the NT border!
Travel as long as you have planned. Go to one of the larger towns stay a few days a week, order the parts fix the problems, get the hair cut etc, Decide what you don't require ,then decide what to dump and send the rest home via Startrack of someone. Then when all is done rejoin the travel.
Thanks Malcolm we've got a lot of parts going to Katherine now so that's a load off my shoulders. The original plan was only 6 months and we have seen so much.
Thanks Graham, the Bungle Bungles is definitely a trip highlight, it was mind blowing. It's funny how all the struggles with the air con and fuel tank are already forgotten but I still remember that beauty clear as day.
Decisions decisions, totally your call and no doubt you'll make one for the right reasons - don't sweat it. You all look and sound so much more relaxed when you have stayed multiple nights in a location as opposed to just overnight stops. So may be you could consider travelling more like that. We always find it's not a holiday when you're setting up & packing up camp everyday. Anyway, another great vid, well done.
Thanks Ian, we are racing the wet season too, so sometimes we are pushing more than we want. But at the same time we have a big hit list of the places we really want to see. It's a balancing act
Love your work keep it going.you’re kids are doing well and you both look happy.Life’s short go for it you never know what’s around the corner in life and I can testify your life can change in a second.so live it with no regrets and travel this great land wile you can
Thanks Greg, good advice. We will always be travelling Australia one way or the other. The kids are loving this trip but are also getting home sick, which I never consider. So we'll have to sit down with them and nut it out
Another great video and discussion! Keep going! I started a lap around oz many years ago, with no plan and finished 4.5 years later made it back to my home town, amazing experiences :-)
You guys are such battlers. A real treat to follow your adventures, it would be a shame for us to lose contact with you but you must make the decision to continue or cease travel. Either way you will be fondly remembered. Cheers guys. 👍😎😉🦆
Yeah we'll have to sit down soon with the kids and really nut it out what we want do. It's not as simple as just going for it, lots to consider, especially the climate and what's happening down south
Thanks again for another great vlog, really enjoy them and appreciate the time and effort it takes to produce. My advice on whether to continue with your journey, If you can do it, then do it!! Life is short and you don't know what the future holds. You all seem to enjoy life on the road together so why not continue while you are able, you've earned it. Take care and safe travels!
What can i say guys. Only you can decide when the trip is at the point of home time, but from my view, i reckon after watching you each week be a real family touring the great southern land if it ended tomorrow you wouldn't regret it. Gees Adam, i see bitumen vehicles every week have bigger issues than the patrol has had all trip but i understand the frustration of having that bloody steering fail again mate. For me, I've thoroughly enjoyed every second of your journey and I'm certain you guys will remain a pleasant part of my life whatever you decide to do. Thanks again and safe and happy travels to you until next week.

We just have to get to the NT for parts, can you believe it's a extra 3 weeks for shipping to the top of WA compared to Katherine just over the border! The race is on against the early wet season too which adds a little excitement too. We'll keep a open mind but we'll have to decide soon what we'll do.

I would be very interested to know what your budget is for your life on the road and if you can afford to I would suggest you keep travelling. We planned to do a trip years ago and life got in the way, finally I. 6 weeks we are heading off but instead of being in our late 20’s we are now in our early 60’s. If you’ve got the budget keep going and the rest will take care of it self. 2, Adam if you’ve had enough fixing the old girl when you finally get home give me a yell and I’ll gladly give her a new home😁. Cheers Scoot
😆 you'll have to fight the kids for the old girl. They've already declared it's their car. It wouldn't be such a issue if we could fix something and it stay fixed, but it's just the same couple of things keep stuffing us around and it's so frustrating
4 months in, have you got any feedback on stuff that you've taken but haven't used? Enjoying the series, and it's great to see everyone having a good time.
The only stuff we haven't used is some extra clothes under the bed. We haven't had to buy anything extra or send anything home, I guess a little experience and a good list payed off. We'll do a little video soon on some of our gear too, just need a quiet week when there's nothing to see, it's just been that jam packed full of adventure!
Another great video guys! We’d happily keep following along if you extended your trip :-) Excited the Vic border now open to Sydney-siders and will be off on our lap just after Xmas 🙌 Ps Some of the comments below 🙄 Adam we think you’re amazing doing so much of the work on the car yourself and not compromising on where you want to take it 💪
That's awesome news to hear you can get going! What a relief that must be. Time to go through all your gear and make sure it's all up to scratch. It's getting to be a love/hate relation with the patrol right now 😅
Mmmm , sounds like you have a catch 22 situation. Sounds like alot of the people following you are experienced travelers. Regarding your vehicle , sound comments to. I always remember Les Hiddens recommendation principal KISS. However a part of that principal for me is a 3.5kw AC on the back of caravan and a generator to power it. Everyone to themselves. Maybe you should leave your car a camper in Darwin and fly home.
Yeah mate I haven't forgotten, I definitely will, it's amazing how little down time we have! There is always something that needs doing, we need a holiday from our holiday 😅
Thanks Bob, on the hwy max pressure 30psi, on the really bad stuff we drop to Min of 7psi. And if tracks not bad and we are going around 60-80km/h they are on 15psi
Thanks Dave, it was good, but does have a couple of issues. Occasionally the microphone on the mediamod doesn't work, and the camera took a couple of hits and the rear screen is cracked. But it still works and it's still our main camera
Great Video guys. We are loving your Videos. We are leaving next year on our own adventure and on a budget, so would love any suggestions you can give us. Keep up the great work, appreciated the effort.
Thanks for the support guys. We will do a budget video once we work it out. Free camping around Australia is fantastic. Best bit of advice be 100% self sufficient on power with solar and batteries, that way you don't need expensive powered caravan parks
We did a trip with two dogs and a 10month old for 3weeks moving every 3 days. I was exhausted by the end. Same with my partner haha. Not sure if we could do it fulltime. Would be better with no time frame and plodding along imo.
Your so right, it's amazing how exhausting travelling can be. Everyone thinks it's a holiday, but I say to them it's not, it's a adventure. Totally different. Thanks for the support
Yes Jenny if you want to see these truly epic places you need a 4x4. It doesn't have to be super modified but tough tyres, low range, a air compressor and you can get to 95% of Australia. You can do a lap in a 2wd but you have to research where you can get to on bitumen roads
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. little bit of advice though? dont go home, once you go home....youre stuck at home in your routine and excuses.....best to extend your trip and live life :)
Thanks Asean for the advice, wish it was that simple, I guess there are a couple of other things behind the scenes we didn't mention that we have to consider. If it was up to me we would keep going
No it was parks nt on line. Not cheap, loads of conditions, took ages to get it. And only a small window to fly. Don't think I'll do it again, not worth the hassle
Wouldn’t matter if you had a brand new car mate things would still fail And atleast you can fix this 1 also if you can keep travelling once u get back into work its very hard too get away from it
you exported your video in 2k resolution but you don't film on your devices in 2k ? also the watermark border reduces that so it's not true 2k anyways .. just making your episodes alot harder to try and enjoy and watch ..
Thanks Michael, it's crazy to think how exhausting travelling in remote places can be. We definitely do need a rest, but are also racing against the coming wet season
Yeah the only problem with the GQ is you dont do proper fixes when opportunity arises so they compound. You drove over 3000km with faults, past major cities including Perth. What do you expect when you do that. Its not the car thats the problem.
😅 yeah we should have gone through to Katherine for parts but then risk not being able to get back into WA if NT gets one or 2 cases of covid. It's a extra 3 weeks for parts to kununurra
Thanks Ian, so true. You never remember when everything went to plan and nothing happened. I'm just hoping everything stays together until we get parts at Katherine

Keep going but a couple of weeks at home to regroup would be good. Quick question please, what PSI do you run in your airbags? Cheers Mark
Thanks Bob, on the hwy max pressure 30psi, on the really bad stuff we drop to Min of 7psi. And if tracks not bad and we are going around 60-80km/h they are on 15psi
@@GoingOverland thank you
Your trip looks absolutely amazing for a family trip!!
I'm curious to know if the GoPro was your main camera for video?
Most Good....
Cheers Mark
If you can make it definately continue on, many people don't get the chance so grab it while you can.
Thanks Jason, we have to sit down with the kids and make a decision. They have been doing it tough and getting a little home sick
Hi guys, would you say it is essential to have a 4 wheel drive to travel like you guys? What would you change vehicle wise if any? Thanks guys
Yes Jenny if you want to see these truly epic places you need a 4x4. It doesn't have to be super modified but tough tyres, low range, a air compressor and you can get to 95% of Australia.
You can do a lap in a 2wd but you have to research where you can get to on bitumen roads
@@GoingOverland thank you so much :))))
Hey mate, who made your long range tank?
It's a old LRA tank. About 75L. And because it's transferred to the main tank we can use About 74.5L, giving us 900-1200km depending on conditions
@@GoingOverland I do understand, life throws stuff at us. I wish you well for your future travels
How did you get the drone permit and what were the conditions? Was it at the Rangers office, I was under the assumption that it was a no fly zone
No it was parks nt on line. Not cheap, loads of conditions, took ages to get it. And only a small window to fly. Don't think I'll do it again, not worth the hassle
Wouldn’t matter if you had a brand new car mate things would still fail And atleast you can fix this 1 also if you can keep travelling once u get back into work its very hard too get away from it
I know, that's what I'm thinking, when you get home most people just get straight back into work and that's the end
you exported your video in 2k resolution but you don't film on your devices in 2k ? also the watermark border reduces that so it's not true 2k anyways .. just making your episodes alot harder to try and enjoy and watch ..
Hi guys looks like you're getting a bit tired I think you should head home before you go stir crazy🙃
Hi Kindly ask if we have a chance to work together now😃
Extend it
Thanks Marley, we would definitely enjoy the extra time. 😀
That’s why the outback is Toyota territory and Nissan’s should be left on the beach to rust away.😏😎👍
🤣 if only I could afford a Toyota. Actually we seen 3 Toyota's on tow trucks coming out of the Gibb River Rd. So it ain't just us
Stay on the road, because go home, you will get in a rut and never finish the trip . The break downs are the stories you will tell for years.
Thanks Ian, so true. You never remember when everything went to plan and nothing happened. I'm just hoping everything stays together until we get parts at Katherine
