The bathrooms are in what used to be the garage (when it was a gas station in the 70's and 80's they had a mechanic). It was a store when I was a kid in the 1960's.
The concrete thing you saw on the other side of the tracks was a water well. Also, you did not walk far enough to see the monument. It is down the road on the other side of La Paz (in what used to be the North Unit - from when the hospital was operational). Ironically if you had walked another quarter mile up the road on the other side of the freeway bridge you would have see the same concrete structure on your right hand side of the road.
Hey jeffy I got my ALERT and I must say that I really enjoyed this morning with you. I had a great time! I really did. Anyway, love the scenery. Beautiful. I can almost smell the fresh air and hear birds chirping. And that train on the track's....ugh! But we got through it didn't we. It's a coincidence that I am drinking a Dr Pepper as I am watching this. It's like my cup of coffee, but better. I mention that because Dr Pepper is still using the same iconic design as the ones on that Cafe. That's crazy. But it works apparently. And I wouldn't step or stand on those wood covers that are covering the septic tanks! Gross! Please watch your step. Yeah, Ceasar Chavez monument? They spared no expense! It's almost a insult to the Farm Workers and Him. Way up in the wilderness, really?! Anyway, I had fun this morning and you are very entertaining. No, the sign is new well relatively (ha ha) the freeway was built in the it is from the 1980's (the old sign fell down).
