    Plug up one end of pvc pipe and fill it with sand. then heat it up and bend it to how you want it. I use that method to bend pipes for install. Great idea will try it out and tell how it works.

    Be easier to spray paint the noodle white then add red tape. Just an idea that works. x

    PVC pipe, duct tape and foam tubing , That's how a serious DIY guy does Christmas decorations. Everything we need for Christmas can be found in our tool shed, garage or the hardware store.They look great.

    Do you think that 2-inch PVC will bend with the heat gun? Btw awesome job! Thank you for sharing your masterpiece!!

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      2” would be tough to bend I think, maybe two heat guns at once

      @@SSLFamilyDad I am doing it. Not easy LOL but it's working. Definitely going to have to sand this thing down and paint it afterwards

  • @aaronstill

    I think spraying it white first and then put on the red tape...... that's what I'm gonna try thanks mate

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that would also work well I think, only thing I worry about would be how well the paint will stick to the pool noodles and how many years it would last. the tape is a bit more durable but painting would be a bit easier

  • @mcoguyaj
    @mcoguyaj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I see that you can buy white noodles or can you spray paint them white. One video says to put a varnish on them so they last for years.

    Loved your video. Toughest part seems to be making the template, but I'm going to do it. THANKS!

      no problem, good luck! It was a fun project and they are still around in a closet at our church for future use, fairly durable.

    • @alagator809
      @alagator809 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nor Cal Chick ya I wondering i u could do it without template but then I was like well idk! If u did like regular poles and made like candy and fencing, u wouldn't need to bend it! Just an idea!

  • @Misslastate2001
    @Misslastate2001 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very cute. However since you already have the template, why not just space them further apart so you can use a bigger diameter piece of pvc and shape that, then stripe it with red duct tape?

    Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
    I stumbled on your channel a good while back. I was needing help with something. It's was a true Blessing. I get a alert when you have a new one. If I had to define what I feel the American Dream truly is, you folks come to mind. That's what I want for my family. I think you know what I mean. I will always be grateful for the opportunity God gave me and my family.

    to avoid flat spots, try filling the pipe with sand or something.

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jacob Sokolove I thought about that, probably could put in some sand just not sure if it would absorb the heat and make them harder to bend, something to try next time. Thanks!

    Awesome!! Great job! I will make a few next year, I'm pooped out I have been setting up my yard with a super Light show! I bought the lighted candy canes that are only 24" and the 8" kinda costly :( O well I think I will add lights to your idea! I will try the 6803 dream magic LED strip lights as the strip Thanks very much ! Have a Merry Christmas! and a Happy New Year to all! God bless.

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a great idea. Led strip lights could just attach all the way down the spiral.

    Any tip on how to stake them in ground for outdoor decorations?

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      purchase a piece of metal re bar or electrical conduit that will fit in the hole in the bottom of the pool noodle. Pound the metal in the ground and slide the candy cane over it.

    how do you secure them to keep them standing?

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sandra Smith you could use a piece of rebar from home depot

  • @jessicak6482
    @jessicak6482 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    We used the pipe insulation from Home Depot. It was cheaper than the pool noodles.

    • @Eyrothath
      @Eyrothath 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pipe insulation is more sturdy as well. Pool noodles these days don't last and if you live in Arizona like I do, they get destroyed by the heat..

    +SSLFamilyDad Can you help me We are trying to make these Candycanes But the heat dose not bend the PVC What do we do? And great idea But could you comment as soon as you can? from you friend Jaden Good

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you apply a hair dryer close to the PVC, hold it there for a minute or two and keep the heat on it it will bend
