    He’s a very good coach and culture guy. But he should be a full time DC, not a head coach. That 13 second game was just a back breaker and pretty unforgivable for a defensive head coach.

    The bengals lost McDermott wasn’t calling the D. Frazier was. White was coming off a knee surgery not Achilles in that game. And the bills weren’t playing a lot of man against the chiefs last year bc they were down 2 corners and both starting LB’s love the channel but you missed on this video - the most pertinent info left out

    Great point on defensive coverages. I wanted McDermott gone 2 yrs ago but have to admit he seemed better last year. If they don't find a way to disrupt Mahomes' insanely high completion rate in big games-- I'd be happy with a change

    McDermott lost his credibility in the Hamlin game. The team has done ok in spite of his lack of leadership.

      Why the Hamlin game? I would think the team lost respect for him after the 6-9 Jags loss in 2021, 13 seconds game, the Bengals divisional game, the lull mid season last year that almost caused the team to miss the postseason, or the Eagles game where McDermott got outcoached when they had a huge lead and lost in OT. I thought he handled the Hamlin game fine

    There are so many ingredients in the recipe for a great coach. In-game management is certainly one of them. On the other hand, off-the-field components may be equally important.
    I wouldn't trade McDermott for any other coach in the NFL. Though his handling of character issues in the locker room hasn't been perfect, he cares deeply about the whole person (as does Beane) over just plugging in talent. Some may not value that about him. I do.

    In the last game, there was an obvious lack of personnel due to injuries. You can't consistently play man coverage with backups. And, the Chiefs won the superbowl so you could make this argument several different ways about every team they beat to get to and win the Superbowl.

    It blows my mind how many football fans over rate themselves. If the franchise would just listen to them, the bills would win the super bowl ever year. The bills would draft at 32 every year but would somehow be able to land every super star coming to the league from college and they could somehow sign or trade for any player they wanted regardless of the salary cap. Injuries wouldn't be a thing either. It's amazing half you guys don't have every team in the league beating down your doors to be their GM.

    Bills had too many injuries last year and still think they'd win if both were even strength. However nobody is full week 18+.Houston, Cinci, Cheifs, Cheifs playoff losses can all be linked to playcalling 100%

    McDermott falls apart when the games on the line. Which is why I wanted him gone after the bengals loss. He continues to call the wrong game plan in the playoffs. There’s still been 0 QBs to win a ring if they haven’t within the first 5 years as a HC/QB pair.

    • @morganyu812

      @buzzed0nbeer21 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@morganyu812 if he has to deal with the chiefs so much why is he still losing in the same ways? 87 wide open and playing soft zones. The next week the ravens play man basically the entire 2nd half and hold them scoreless. McDermotts the issue. Josh has won a playoff game under 3 different OCs and almost scored more TDs(3) vs the chiefs than the dolphins ravens and 49ers combined(4).

    McDermott and Taylor didn’t break the Bills playoff streak, Andy Dalton did. McDermott plays not to lose instead of playing to win and that’s why Buffalo loses to the Chiefs in the playoffs every year.🎉

    • @awill3454
      @awill3454 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Also, McDermott’s defenses get absolutely shredded by Mahomes and Burrow. Bills defenses always finish top 10 in DVOA during the regular season because they beat up on bad offenses and QBs but struggle to keep the Chiefs and Bengals

    • @biym6969
      @biym6969 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@awill3454the chiefs game this year that just passed the bills came into the game with 4 linebackers. They called AJ kleine off the couch to play call! Playing zone don't require switches or trade off with corners. What did you expect without any real practice time. Smdh

    • @awill3454
      @awill3454 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @biym6969 Excuses, excuses. This has been a pattern for years, not just this past year. They were fairly healthy in 2021 and still gave up 42 points to the Chiefs. In 2022 the Bengals walked all over the Bills. The Bengals took their foot off the gas because they were up so much and “only” scored 27 points, but easily could have scored 40+. That team was healthy minus Von Miller’s season ending injury. The corners played 5 yards off the LoS in the snow and Burrow made quick passes underneath all game and McDermott never made an adjustment.
      The Bills couldn’t generate any pass rush this past playoff game. What does that have to do with having only 4 linebackers? They continue to play zone even though Mahomes and Burrow are the 2 best QBs in the NFL against zone. Even with just a few linebackers, allowing 27 points in just 21 minutes of game time is inexcusable. This is all on McDermott

    • @biym6969
      @biym6969 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@awill3454 yeah, I'm not gonna read all that. Like I said, when you enter a game with only 4 linebackers and have AJ kleine that has retired and on the couch play calling for your defense that's a problem. And they STILL almost beat the chiefs. Thank you for proving me right by saying the bills have many injuries for several years.
      I have no excuses for the bengals game nor the other chief games. It is what it is. You can finish it off your comments.

    I don't think McDermott is a bad coach. On the contrary, I think he's one of the better coaches in the league. I just think the Buffalo Bills, and Josh Allen individually, have peaked under his leadership as HC. I think he'd make a better DC than a head coach. I think his game management in big moments has been questionable at times, but overall like I said, I think he's one of the better coaches in the league, I just don't know if it's with THIS team anymore. FOR THE RECORD: I do not blame him whatsoever for their loss to the Chiefs this year. Injuries above all else derailed their chances and despite that, they still played the Chiefs tougher than anyone but the 49ers did in the SB. The Bills KNOW what it takes to beat the Chiefs, they do it all the time in the regular season. They can just never do it at the right time.
    I've been of the opinion that I think that Josh and this team could stand to benefit from a head coaching change, someone who is more offensive minded. Hypothetically, someone like a Sean McVay, or Matt Lafluer, etc. Someone from the Shanahan coaching tree basically. I think a great offensive mind could unlock Buffalo's offense and help Josh take the next step. Hell, I wouldn't even mind seeing Brian Daboll returning to Buffalo. Think Josh played his best under Daboll's tutelage and offensive system.
    I just think sometimes change can bring good with it and maybe a philosophical shift is what's needed to get this team over the hump.

    As a bills fan last year vs the chiefs the defense was so injured our starting linebacker that game was playing with one arm and the other was on a vacation when we signed him since he didn’t think anyone was gonna sign him so late in the season.
    Previous years I’m still a tiny bit pissed but that blame more is on Frazier for defense.
