@@SeekandDetect - I am giving it a serious look - The multi-frequency IQ tech is something I like and is something I have on my 540 and Equinox 600 - I also have a lot of older minelab tech with BBS and FBS tech and it really does the job nicely so yes, thanks for making me aware of this nicer Xterra option ;>) I had not seen that model!
I'd chose the X-Terra Pro for its 'waterproof-ness.' Also, the VDI scale is the same as all the other 2023 & later Minelabs. Then I'd constantly regret not having multi-frequency (like the 540) and would end up buying an X-Terra Elite...and then I'd realize that I should've saved for a 900 or Manticore instead. 😳
I enjoyed seeing both in action. How did they feel to use? Did you notice differences as you were using them? Were you more confident with one over the other?
I have a question….. which one seems to be easier on your arm to use? The S shaft or the straight shaft? I am trying to decide if I want a straight vs the S. Wondering what you think? Thanks!
Im so use to the 900, but of them feel a little heavier and less rigid. I prefer the feeling of the X-Terra because my hand and arm are in the same position as the 900. The Vanquish I run the shaft a little shorter so the coil is closer. It works well like that but my swing pattern isn't as wide.
I think you mean if you use them in the water with waves? They are both pretty stable and quiet. Sometimes a little chatter but both of them do very well!
I'm looking at buying my first metal detector and am leaning towards the Minelab X-Terra Pro right now. I live locally so if i run into you down there, i'll be sure to say hi and thanks for the video./
i never used a metal detector before but was gifted a (sunpow ot-md09) is it a unit you've heard about before? curious if its a decent one and worth the beach trip😅
@@justua1992 give it a try, I’m sure you will find things. Go slow and just dig everything that makes repeatable sounds. You’ll learn what the machine is capable of. Stick to the dry areas, most of the lower price machines have trouble in the water.
Do metal detectors make sense? After spending a lot of money on equipment and time going on searching out there to get bottle or pull caps, nails, some nickel coins and metal trash in general. What is the motivation to be doing metal detecting?
I found enough stuff to pay for all my equipment many times over. Just this year enough coins to buy another detector. It's fun, challenging and good exercise. I love being on the beach :)
Note as well the pro in park 1 or 2 will piss the beach in 🎉 and field tracking a must be on.do a check on ground balance. Every now and then and ya have notch as well if after true silver 🥈 as well. Frequency 5 or 15 can be better even in wet sand as well.😂.enjoy looks like ya have a bit more to the pro hey.😂.
There aren't many settings on the 540. You already have the biggest coil, the 12". I would turn up sensitivity, turn on all metal and try each of the search modes.
Fast sweep 😂 cover ground fast. Pro. My coins gold ect. Beach 2 ground balance say ya get 58 take it to 80 plus button. Sensitivity 18 volume 23 advanced volume hold cog wheel in split second now take T1 TO A 25 OR16. THRESHOLD =0 . TARGET TONE 5 . ACCEPT REJECT ALL IN NEGETIVE 16 TO 99 . RECOVERY 3 OR 2😂. MAKE IT WORK HARD SENSITIVITY KEEP LOW SET AT 18 GIVES A GOOD 8 INS. HAVE TRACKING ON. LOL THEN EVERY 20 MIN CHECK TO SEE WHAT GROUND BALANCE IS SAY EVERY 100 FEET IF NOT 80 TAKE IT UP TO 80.😂😊
On the pro our 1 and 2 dollar coins hit the 21 or 22 both have 6%ally truly made for our coins. Your coins must have a a good %of zinc and nickel to go to 29.😂
TEST BEACH ONE OR TWO . NOTCH IN ONLY ALL NEGETIVE PLUS 1 2 4 6 7 8 9. THE REST OUT. I WONDER WHAT THAT IS ALL ABOUT DO A 2.5 HR HUNT. AND EVEN IN PARK GIVE IT A CRACK.😂

either way it was a great hunt for both detectors Eric. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks 😊
Great comparison video Eric thanks for sharing 👍 Love my 540 for park hunting
the tones and numbers are nice and tight.
Thanks
It's been a while... nice running into you guys on the beach the other day! 🙂
Yes it was! You were killin it!
Great comparison - I have a 540 and plan to add the Xterra Pro to my Minelab collection as well.
@@Afterburner I think you’ll like it. Have you looked at the elite, it costs a bit more, but this is supposed to work better than the pro

Two great detectors. I use the xterra and James uses the 540.
We have been very successful with both of them.
We are a Minelab Team for sure!
It always take me a few targets before I remember the 540 ID's, but it doesn't take long😊
Great Test great video Respect from the Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪
thanks😊
Nice hunt thanks!!!
Thanks for watching!
That is good even in parks. With tracking on. Good cold night hunt go 8 sensitivity.
Great comparison
thanks
Top vid to see that in another part of the world.

It's almost like they designed this that way to get people with a head on shoulders to pay more and everyone else payes out twice.. 3 times haha
Like most products, especially tech, they develop levels of features. When we start at the bottom we end up with FOMO🤣
Both good machines but I like the Minelab X-Terra Pro !!!
What would you recommend for a light weight scoop and handle?
i have 2 different CKG scoops. The 9X6 is a little smaller and lighter but works well. I"m using carbon handles too, very light.
X Terra pro is a great machine
yup!
Thanks for the video, hope to meet you in huntington one day
if you see me out there be sure to stop by and say hi!
I enjoyed seeing both in action. How did they feel to use? Did you notice differences as you were using them? Were you more confident with one over the other?
different but both work well. the vanquish has tighter numbers and beeps, the Xterra is waterproof. Find good stuff with either one!

How about what happen if wave drop the coil?is That Frenzkrusi number still Stable?

@SeekandDetect awesome will do thanks for the advice I'll try it out a couple times 🤞 if I find sum gold I'll find this message and let you know 😅 👍
@ yes please do! Good luck out there😎
Question..
can minelab xterra pro use grey ghost amfibian wireless headphone?
yes, the Xterra has the screw type waterproof plug as the Equinox/Manticore.
@SeekandDetect tq sir

So got it 1.00 is 64 vdi . 2.oo coin 70 vdi or 68 if oxidation is high.
The 540 absolutely rocks
it does!
I agree it's sweet
The jumpy numbers drive me crazy but the fact you can throw it under the shower after getting it covered in crud and sand +++
My 900 almost got sucked away by a wave last weekend, good thing my wired headphone were connected or I may have had to go on a swim😂
@SeekandDetect The water is way to cold here in the uk fir anyone to go swimming. shame really... but we do have lots of really old stuff to dig up!😝
Part of me wishes for global warming so we can go get me some gold chains an rings at the beach! :D
Cheers mate.😂
Sensitivity start at 10 to 14 make the pro work.
540 got allot more use.
The 540 could have been a classic if only they made the control box waterproof. It's a great machine until it gets flooded.
ya, simple to use and works well. I believe I saw one mounted in a waterproof box. I forgot where I saw this.
Ps last 14ct pen Parker was at 10ins wet sand vdi was 47. Pen came in at 380.00 mark.😂😊.
It looked like the xterra is not stable at all with the ID .
it can be jumpy, but it hasn't stopped me from finding things.
In my opinion I like the 540 the best
It’s a good one!
Santa Monica in the morning.
good luck!
Yep 64 for 2.oo dollar coin. 69 for 70 for newer 1.oo coins.🎉. Had a program will look for it no noise cancellation as well ???😂
What would they be after.?????????????.😂
If you are reading numbers it looks like the 540 did I better.

Shit I was wrong on that that's the 800 lol I am a idiot vdi numbers must be 60ies very close any how it can come down to set up as well of machine. 😂
How to increase the depth of the Vanquish 540. Please help. I use it in valleys and mountains.

On land 540
i kinda agree with you!😀
The bracelet is a Cartier knock off until proven otherwise!
we'll have to see what the appraiser says🤣
@@SeekandDetect 🤣
Only thing the pro has in water proof. 540 is tuned better.
I think the elite would work more like the 540, but it costs a bit more.
I’ll stick with my Nox 900
What about the manticore!😁

Relic is the deepest. But move a little bit slower when using relic.
