Man I remember when that album came out like it was yesterday. What a game changer Vernon Reid and their sound was. It was impossible to play it loud enough LOL! Their front man Corey Glover also played a role in the movie Platoon. Thanks for the lesson and memories.
a technique I do with the main riff, is instead of fretting the G with my index, I use my thumb(a la Jimi Hendrix); with that, I have an anchor and don't need to move my hand position, might take a bit of practice if you're not used to fretting with the thumb
I've been learning electric guitar for 2 years. I absolutely love watching your lessons Marty. They really help me since I'm still at grandma speed. Lol

If you are having difficulty with the rhythmic flow and speed , you can play the 5th fret D note on the open D string . It actually feels much more natural to me . Just my opinion. Thanks Marty

Hey Marty, you think you could do a tutorial on how to play the intro to Sweet Child O Mine by Guns n Roses? I’ve been wanting to learning it for a while and if you can it would be awesome if you could include the solo if possible lol.
Call me lazy if you want, i'd replace the D on the fifth string for the D on the 4th string (open), that way the whole riff can be played with 2 fingers... ! for the run on the odd measure yess you have to play the whole thing in a more logical way so you don't lose yourself but tell me if anyone tried this "other way"

Love this riff. I always played the first two notes using my thumb and middle so I could get that G on the fourth string with my index finger easier.
