    I have younger children (6, 5 and 4)and i told them that when you make the sign of the cross it's almost like waving hello to people. That is a special wave you do for God as will at the end you are saying goodbye.

    My Most FAVORITE video! Thank you Fr Rob. If only I knew you sat on VIP seat, I would have tried to get to sit there as well (hehe). If you remember, I was the girl who nervously told you I already watched all of your youtube video episode back then. Yes, God put His beloved Church even in the most Moslem populated country to be a blessing and witness for others believers out there. And we were blessed to have you with us and hear your preaching. Please come again someday. God bless you, Father. O:)

    Thank you for the videos, songs and Breakthrough book.
    At 1:06 Fr Rob says: “As Catholics we make the Sign of the Cross, whenever we pray. When we begin Mass we begin it “In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Other times before meals or praying the rosary we begin our prayers with the Sign of the Cross.” But sometimes the Roman Catholic liturgical books do not begin prayers with the “Sign of the Cross”. Here are some examples.
    Grace before meals, third plan. It does have the Sign of the Cross for the 1st, 2nd and 4th plan. But not the third plan. None of the prayers at the end of the meal begin with the Sign of the Cross. (Book of Blessings, USA edition, 1989, Chapter 30 “Order for the Blessing Before and After Meals”.)
    Many blessings in this book have the rite with the Sign of the Cross and then a “Shorter Rite” without it. For example "Order for the Blessing of Tools or Other Equipment for Work", chapter 24.
    “II Shorter Rite
    939 At the beginning of the celebration, the minister says:
    Our help is in the name of the Lord.”
    Mass begins with the Sign of the Cross but a Communion Service and Viaticum do not. (Holy Communion and the Worship of the Eucharist Outside of Mass, 27, 43, 56, 68).
    For a wedding outside of Mass it depends on the minister. If it is a Priest or Deacon the ceremony begins with the Sign of the Cross. But for the “Order of Celebrating Matrimony in the Presence of an Assisting Layperson” it does not begin with the Sign of the Cross. (The Order of Celebrating Matrimony, St Paul’s Publications, 2017, ISBN 9781925494051, pages 21 and 36, n. 86 and n. 122.)
    The Good Friday ceremony in the Roman Missal does not begin with the Sign of the Cross.
    Perhaps there are 4 Reasons why Catholics do not make The Sign of the Cross to begin some ceremonies:
    (1) to make the ceremony shorter,
    (2) to indicate that this ceremony or prayer is a kind of continuation of another one,
    (3) to indicate that a extraordinary minister is leading the ceremony,
    (4) to indicate that the ceremony is not a Mass.

    With love and all due respect, please tell me where in the bible do we receive this instruction? This is manmade ritual and tradition. Anything outside of the teaching of Jesus is not of Jesus, and is a distraction from His instruction.

    The sign of the cross has had superstitious overtones from the beginning.
    The Catholic Encyclopedia says: "From the earliest period it has been employed in all exorcisms and conjurations as a weapon against the spirits of darkness."

    Priests ought never to take off their kasak, this is a part of the promises of the priesthood and you acknowledge the priesthood by doing so.

    • @FrRobGalea
      @FrRobGalea  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ian Smith is it? Where and when do they make that promise?

    • @iansmith9103
      @iansmith9103 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forgive me, I don’t know if it’s a promise but I know the following:
      Here are 2 quotes I think from the Vatican:
      “...when other than the cassock, attire must be different from the way laypersons dress..” (Pg. 83, Directory for the Ministery and the Life of Priests)
      “Outside of specific exceptional cases, the non use of eccle- siastical attire may manifest a weak sense of one’s identity as a pastor dedicated entirely to the service of the Church.” (Pg. 83, Directory for the Ministery and the Life of Priests: Cf. Paul VI, General Audience (17 September 1969); Allocution to the Clergy (1 March 1973): Insegnamenti VII (1969), 1065; XI (1973), 176)
      My thought: The preceding quote I most agree with and I don’t know what saint would ever, especially in public, wear something other than his cassock, a symbol of that priesthood which puts his dignity above all the saints. The Church says “outside of exceptional cases” a priest can’t do so, and thus, that why I’ve said that.

    • @FrRobGalea
      @FrRobGalea  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ian Smith I am wearing the right clothing. Still I took no vow. And there are several priests saints who did not wear cassock. In paintings they are always wearing it, true.

    • @FrRobGalea
      @FrRobGalea  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And being in a Muslim country would be an exceptional circumstance

    • @iansmith9103
      @iansmith9103 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You deny the very instruction from the Vatican, from the Catholic Church which I have showed you. Yes you have not taken a vow but you have not taken a vow to pray several times every day but you do nonetheless. And my priests never take off their cassock for anything, no matter where they travel and they’ve traveled some dangerous places. One of the great doctors of the Church or any saint who had a religious vow would never be seen without his cassock on. And according to the guidebook, your dress would not be fitting for it is in no way different from the regular person. I don’t say these things to be cruel, but I am obliged when the Church’s law, God’s law, is not being followed. This is the single greatest path in life one could be given, take pride in it.
