She was a living musical instrument with a wonderful and loving soul. So wise and so beautiful and so satisfying. She still lives in my heart. I can't think of her without smiling.
Nancy's more than half-century career has been astounding. For those who became fans with her first Capitol album "Like in Love" it's been pure pleasure following her as she's grown as an artist, transformed as an artist, taking on surprising music, defied typecasting and trends and been totally true to herself. She evidently does not plan ever to look like an old lady (that's for sure) and the voice is still rich and tangy. She is still the fancy Miss Nancy.
with an introduction we rarely hear, nancy takes this peggy lee classic and turns it into a senuous love song. nancy is a queen with her interpretations of these 'story' songs. (just listen to what she does with 'guess who i saw today' or 'the greatest performance'). one of the best ballad singers in the world today.
Love that Phil introduced her as a fellow Buckeye, I'm a Michigan State Spartan so Buckeyes are mostly cool. Newport Jazz Festival and JVC 1987 Carnegie Hall concert both have better sound quality of Nancy performing The Folks Who Live in the Hill.
Charlotte Vick I wish I could fix the static. I recorded it on a VHS tape in 1988. I haven't transferred anything from VHS tape to MP4 form in years, so I'm even less capable now. I agree Nancy deserves better. I'm pretty sure all my uploads have similar imperfections.

This is what’s wrong with the youth of today, they weren’t introduced to REAL MUSIC, like this.
