I was there the day the Sea Vixen arrived on a low loader, we had a crane to lift it off, unfortunately the aircraft swung and a wing tip was damaged, Gosh 1976, I am now 73 just where has the time gone ?? Thank you for the video best regards Sisaket Thailand.
As a very young kid I remember living in Ilchester when dad was stationed at Yeovilton and being poked through into the cockpit of a Sea Vixen. My favourite aircraft of all time. If I remember correctly he was 766 and 819 squadrons, electrical engineer.
Yes, I worked on them at Halton too between '75 and '78 😁. Funnily enough, I'm actually writing this sat only about a mile from that very spot where nearly 50 years ago I arrived at Halton for my apprenticeship🤔 and 20 or so of us will be holding our reunion next year on 1st April.
@@kevintracey4644 Hi, we left in February '78 iirc so I would imagine you hadn't arrived then and our paths of Senior Entry and rookies hadn't crossed, but probably leaving 126 or 127 as Senior Entry to "look after you" 🤣 You may have heard about the Whirlwind that was "relocated" onto the Groves-Henderson parade square? That was us lot celebrating 1 year at Halton. The date was the 1st of April 1976 😊
Amazing aircraft, I had no idea it was a two man crew - It must be AWESOME to work at restoration.. The museum should make a deal with Airfix Models to supply kits for the aircraft you have in the museum gift shop. Cheers from the colonies.
I was at the Museum this Morning and it is looking so much better now it’s being restored. It was looking a bit sorry for itself…well done everyone…Stirling work !
A great video guys. I have to say I really appreciate the work you are doing on this Sea Vixen, restoring this great piece of military history. As I know Denis Adams great to see him fronting this video. Look forward to seeing more from you.
Thanks, Gren. I enjoy scripting and delivering these videos. The dedicated and talented volunteers do camera work, editing and graphics, to end up with the final result. And it is a pleasure to spend time with the restoration teams; their knowledge and enthusiasm shine through.
Such beautiful aircraft deserves a better place to rest than under the weather. Any plans of building it a cozy place in the future? Thank you, eager to visit the museum in the future. Huge DH fan here.
A wonderful museum just off of the M 25 and not far away from me,well worth a visit,if like me you love the Mosquito then you will have a wonderful surprise.
I was there earlier in the year and just didn't have enough time to see everything - I will remedy that the next time we visit. I assume that the pilot canopy is smoked due to weather exposure?
I'd give you a dozen thumbs-up if I could. Great work and I'd love to come and see it all if I can arrange the nearly 300 mile round trip. You may have stumbled (with your scafolding) onto another possible way of showing the exhibits, by maybe a raised viewing platform?
Fabulous aircraft, the Sea Vixen. A true unsung hero.
Thank you for saving and restoring this magnificent piece of military history.

Thank you to the crew of restorers and to the Museum for the news! Well done for your work! ❤
Amazing museum. I've been there twice and it is highly recommended. Love these videos.
Thank you. A special aeroplane and well worth preserving.
from Canada, you men, probably volounteers, are all dedicated to do the best you can, you should be applauded more for your grit...........thank you.
Great work Gentlemen, it’s looking great. I’d to see more about your Sea Vixen.
I was at RAF Halton (1978 to 1981). A couple of Vixens were in the workshop for us apprentices to work on. It’ll be good to see one restored.

Fantastic - it has been a couple of years since I visited - must do so again soon!

@B0M0A0K yes, the elements have give the plane a good beating over the years !!
A new canopy is our shopping list... 😉

The observer's title was ironic, since the only thing visible from his position was a small piece of sky.
He 'observed' the radar screen!
Can't wait for the day the scaffolding is removed and we get to see her in all her glory.
I always thought this was a beautiful aircraft. Very nearly a flying wing.
I have to say that is a very ugly aircraft with it's lopsided poorly designed cockpit.
@@BaronFlyingClub come and see it in the flesh.......you'll soon change your mind !!! 😀
I had a squadron of them living on my roof, Graham!

It’s actually one of the most entertaining aircraft to see flying in display mode
