Always appreciate your well-measured approach to this work and channel, and agree fully that the demands from striking drivers is way beyond reasonable. Look forward to seeing 2024 unfold and what improvements may come for us. As an aside, I can't imagine spending my day driving in your dapper shoes!
Hahaha they're actually fairly chunky boots I ordered online (got sick of mud-covered trainers on wet rural routes) but ended up looking a bit smarter than I'd hoped when they arrived 😂 they're well comfy though, especially on long days out working 🙌
Accepting low ball offers is effectively paying for the privilege of being busy. If it costs you money to go to work, go home, put your feet up and save yourself money.
Love the videos, been watching about 3 months now and went to watch old videos. Was glad to see you at Asda that one evening. Keep up the good work and hope your family are doing well as 2024 carries on.
I like that you have no schedule because when I see you pop up in my subscription feed I always look forward to watching it. And keep doing the youtube vids. Hopefully it gets to the point where a video will pay for the running costs for a days work or more.
Not often I see a TH-cam video of someone driving through my home town but it certainly is surreal to see. I would typically associate Delivery driving and such with big cities but this is really fun to watch, kudos!
Really enjoyed watching this vlog very informative, I mainly do Amazon logistics and Morrison’s, slow in my area too , wales 🏴, great to c u back and would love to see challenge vlog , keep up the great work 😊
unfortunately, the same people that are striking, are the same people with multiple phones accepting the low paying jobs, that coupled with the fact these companies can just onboard more drives when ever they want wont help Congrats on the 5k, enjoyed the videos all along and hope the little one is all good 👍
Secondly compared to other similar videos yours are a real documentary type which I much prefer. Discussing the real issues makes the videos more interesting . Others don’t discuss money and just show the positive side which concerns me people may think this is super easy and give up their job.
Came across your channel within last 10 days and subscribed on first video. Have since watched most of them. Very good creator who i can relate to especially with Flex. I do Flex around my main job and find it very good side income. I dont earn less than £25/hr normally on Flex. Anyhow, I know you said you werent going to quit but if you are Id say dont. I genuinelly think your channel will go far and you will get alot of subscribers/views. To the point where you will have another revenue streak in YT. You just need to be consistent and think of fresh new ideas. This was good alternative. Things like delivering in different cities and towns etc. But yeah keep up the good work, stay consistent and this channel will grow. You'll be earning more from this than you do AF/food deliveries eventually.
Great that you are back. I’d love you to do a video where you take any delivery job and you see how far away you can travel away from Taunton in an 8 hour window. Maybe start with a flex somewhere but instead of going home do deliveries in that area. Might be surprising to see where you end up. Cheers, Calum
That's a decent shout! Definitely gonna do some travel-related delivery videos this year. Maybe a UK tour where I deliver in a different city every day and use my earnings to pay for hotels along the way... always wanted to do that one day 🤣
I’ve been doing this work for 5 months and it’s the hardest work for the lowest pay I have ever done but it filled a space in my employment. I’d like to see encouragement for tips for this work, it could help fill the gap.
I’ve been listening whilst I refresh the Flex app. In my area blocks come up between 1700 and 1730, but they were gone as fast as they were posted. I think you’re right about it being a mix of the two, driver saturation and less orders than before. Looking forward to more videos from you. Feeling very relatable with a 5 month old at home.
Clothing? £35 in 3 years for one jacket. Food and drink aren’t expenses, you don’t get those for free in employment. And income tax is irrelevant to profit. You pay tax on profit after deductions and we can claim a lot of mileage allowance in this job. Car maintenance: a few hundred per year, mainly tyres. I pay less tax per pound than I ever have done whilst in other employment. I see where you’re coming from but many people vastly overestimate the expenses in this job.
I can no longer afford to order delivery, I think the cost of living has really affected everyone - so takeaways are a no for me anymore and I am sure a lot of people are in the same boat. I think the problem is, if the pay goes up - the cost will be passed on to the customer, resulting in less deliveries; and the amount of delivery drivers will increase. I see it is a tough, tough gig now - and is a job more suited to people with jobs who want to top up their income when they have a bit of free time.
Hello mate, great content as always 👍🏻 I’m finding Amazon Logistics at Exeter not too bad at the moment. Like you I’m Taunton based so I try to tie in with a Exeter Morrisons run to cover fuel costs etc.
Been dreadful for me mate. Not only is work down but the fees are ABYSMAL. On many occasions the jobs offered I would be breaking even or losing money.
Not only that, the boredom of waiting around for orders drives me INSANE even with a smartphone to occupy myself. I wanna be driving and earning as much as possible. Honestly, I'd be happy enough for the fees to stay the same if I was guaranteed to not be waiting around between orders. I don't mind the odd 10-minute wait, but when it's 10, 20, 30 minutes between every order, and then when you get an order it's £3.80 for a 3 mile trip through traffic, it just stings.
i am looking into it been accepted my region is east midlands i live ng17 sutton in ashfield but my areas to pickup/deliver that are coming up are over 60+ miles away some even more some are 90 miles away. i have contacted support because this cannot be right surely a 1.5 hr block is £28 but asking me to accept a block to Northampton etc that's 90 miles away from my house, i am in-between two Morrisons which are 5 mins each side of me away from my house and i live next to the biggest amazon in country in Mansfield that's 10 mins away but when go on offers and go to filter coming up are Northampton and Leicester etc these are 1.5 hours away from my house. so they want me to drive 1.5 hours to pick up parcels etc Morrisons, why isn't my area on there when got 2 Morrisons and biggest amazon place next to me I'm baffled.
there isnt any depot pick up on offers that is under 60 miles from my house on there so dont understand wont earn anything with these miles not even in my area i live no where near least one is 44 miles from my house to pick up.
I know where your coming from about Amazon last year I was doing 1/2 Morrisons blocks each day I’m now doing 1/2 a week As for deliveroo/uber so far this year I can go out and be online for about 6 hours during the day and earn £20-£30 which last year I’d do that in 2 hours so far to sum it up all the gig platforms I work on and have worked on since 2018 have been the worst I’ve ever seen btw I work Gloucester/cheltenham
Yea mate I hear ya. I just hope things start to pick up over the next few months. Wasn't too long ago I could make £100 in 6-7 hours every day of the week, now it's much harder and with so much more waiting around. I've always wanted to try working in Glous/Chelt, used to go there a lot (I'm from Bristol originally) maybe I'll try one day but by the sounds of it there isn't much point 🤣
I live in a very rural area, no Uber eats here or deliveroo but we do have Evri, I was considering trying them out to supplement my income but have heard some horror stories
I've also heard horror stories about Evri - but who knows maybe I'll sign up one day and make videos undercover 🤣 also, have you checked to see if you live within a reasonable travel distance of an Amazon depo? Amazon Flex might be a good option.
@@autohustles That would be interesting to see if you did that video on Evri and where I live theres nothing here, I'd have to drive about 70 miles or so to get Amazon Flex
I work for evri, it really isn't that bad. Im lucky I suppose as quite rural, means at least not too much traffic. It's luck getting a good run. Obviously if get a built up area you can knock out the deliveries fast and won't use as much petrol. Worth a try, what's the worst that can happen. Management can be shocking but I suppose that's true of any job. Good luck.
@@autohustles good luck my friend, it can be frustrating I waited 3 years and ended up with a zone at the side of my city, which to be honest ain’t too bad. I understand and appreciate that I had to wait so long, for just eat as I believe the fare amount of work for all drivers is a result. Maybe email them and ask if there are any other zones available close to you. If driving is your main job, I would also consider taking taxi licence. Might be my next step next year.
Hi, do you set yourself a minimum weekly wage you have to reach to give your family a decent income or has your wife got a decent job helping the family?
I don't have any particular goals, I just make sure we have enough to live comfortably, and my girlfriend has a pretty good Mon-Fri job also which helps!
All I hear from TH-cam delivery riders and drivers is a load of self entitled twaddle (you aren’t as bad as some others). I agree base rates should be slightly higher but it’s the gig economy and as you point out it’s got many benefits in terms of being your own boss etc. If people don’t like it don’t sign up because I can guarantee you in alot of areas there are people who will do the work. As for limiting the number of riders/delivers I see both side of the argument but again if they limit it and people change their minds about working delivery times increase etc. No easy answers but enjoyed the video as always.
Agreed mate, we have a huge number of benefits compared to employment and it feels like a lot of riders forget that. For the ones who don't care about flexibility and being self-employed, then they should probably just go to employment where they get a guaranteed wage but have to turn up when they're told, and don't get the flexibility to do more/less hours when they want to. For me, the benefits of gig work still far outweigh the negatives, especially as a new dad, I can take spontaneous days off, come home early on a whim, work late on days when I'm not needed at home to make extra cash, it's great and I wouldn't have it any other way.
@autohustles and I agree to that! As with any self employed business, there are highs and lows. My wife is self employed and runs a shop and she gers highs and lows. I'm also a delivery driver, but you have other apps you can get to fill in the time eg yodel, gopher, beelivery, and restaurants demand a lot of evening delivery work so there are options
The reason I like your videos? Knowing that the anxiety I feel on unknown backroads isn't abnormal :D
It's the fear of breaking down in the middle of one 🤣 will forever give me anxiety.
Always appreciate your well-measured approach to this work and channel, and agree fully that the demands from striking drivers is way beyond reasonable. Look forward to seeing 2024 unfold and what improvements may come for us.

The algo served up one of your videos and I watched all of them in a couple days. Keep up the brilliant work - even if it's not gig work
when things are great, remember - this too shall pass
when things are bad, remember - this too shall pass
Amen!
Love the videos, been watching about 3 months now and went to watch old videos. Was glad to see you at Asda that one evening.

As long as your happy & still continue to upload, I’ll be happy!❤ Will continue to watch these videos whatever you continue to post!
Glad to see your back, hope the family are doing well 👍🏼
Cheers mate, the family are doing great! My daughter is 3 and a half months old now, crazy how the time flies, and she's already grown so much.
I like that you have no schedule because when I see you pop up in my subscription feed I always look forward to watching it.
And keep doing the youtube vids. Hopefully it gets to the point where a video will pay for the running costs for a days work or more.
I kinda just enjoy listening to you haha so any content you do I will likely keep watching. Also nice to hear reasonable take on the delivery apps!

Have you tried the Auto Parts suppliers and Tool companies, some have sprint deliveries. Some shifts have their own van as well.
I've worked in supermarkets and January is completely dead.
Been doing Gig for 4 years now on bike Been a fun ride but like they say "all good things must come to a end "

Deliveroo used to offer booked slots to limit the number of drivers in a zone
Please tell me what size is best to buy a bag for uber food delivery? Thank you.
Missed out: vehicle tax, car serving, income tax, repairs, clothing, bags and food/drink. Ends up costing much more.

I really enjoyed the montage 😅

Which model of camera do you use to record?
TH-camupdates are too slow. Can you update it faster? This is not enough. Thanks
