A good coco bread should often leads to a good patty and to push it further, a good hard dough bread. I found a bakery in The Bronx New York with some fresh baked Jamaican treats. Kingston Tropical Bakery is the first of my 100 Jamaican spots in New York.

My childhood memories, I use to buy a patty and cocoa bread and some pepper shrimp on my way to school at Evanda Childs high school.
As a New Yorker Born & Raised & moved south. The sound of the Train is making me home sick😢. The Coco Bread makes looks sooo good. Fluffy, buttery & Sweet. I need the 4 pack because I need a next one for Breakfast, to go with my Coffee.☺️
Ouuuuuuuuuuuu with coffee sounds good! It’s fun the things we miss that we thought you wouldn’t. The train
*A DAT MI A SAY 🇯🇲*
Grew up right there 227th white plains road bronx New York yes that’s the best Jamaican Pattie’s
Nice
You are the first reviewer to call out that their patties aren't flakey. They been making their crust like that forever. But the meat is definitely solid
Yea, I just have to call it as it is. 😎
@@SOAIVLOGSthis is my guy @branchpattyny who also makes amazing patties but he’s now based in LA- he has a very interesting twist on patties that I think you’d appreciate… as patty makers who work hard to get our product to certain standard we appreciate your critiques
My favorite patty is NY have to be Tastee's patties in Brooklyn. The patties have the flaky krust and the juicy filling. They also have an Ackee patty that is very good, the exterior taste like an overnight fried dumpling. I definitely recommend them.
Get the patty from champion bakery, then get the coco breda front Kingston
I will try Champion
yaaaaaaaay Kingston tropical, I always go there the patties are the best.
Glad you enjoy
Wow! Bruh just made a piece of sweet white bread, and a Jamaican beef patty seem like a ribeye steak and a lobster tail. 😂😂😂
IRIE! REEEESPECT! 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Surprised it was so empty in there. The lines are usually out the door. We have been going there since we were kids coming to America from Jamaica in 1979…miss it😢
Yes the lines did pick up. I think it’s because of the rains a few minutes before
It's definitely worth the wait. They're very consistent with the quality of their stuff too.I been going to this place for eons and it never disappoints and the smell is definitely enticing. The lines do be long but it moves very quickly, their service is very top notch. The old lady and man are husband and wife and they are the owners, you see them at the counter from time to time, they don't play with their store and they run a tight ship.
My best tasting hard dough bread is here in the bronx , Champion. Bakery It's the next block. White Plains Rd. Between 225 St and 226.
Facts
I concur
Yeah, champion is definitely better. Real uptown knows that, lol.
@@BiggsYadig nah Kingston have better bread and patties but champion patties are flaky.
@@nycg801 I beg to differ. You have to get Champion's bread when it's still warm. Put some butter on it and you'll be in bread and butter heaven.😁👌👍
I've been going to Kingston Tropical for over 20 years. In the past 2 years their patty recipe has changed as far as the (flavor profile) filling and the crust. This is still my go to bakery for patties. The Coco bread is a 10 out of 10 Yes. I normally rip the bread in half and eat one half with one pattie. You should try the meatloaf pattie it's the best of both worlds. You'll get what I mean when you try it. Great Video. ❤
Thanks for sharing! Ripping the coco bread in half makes sense! You good to taste more patty. Would you say the thought recipe change is for the better? I’ll try the meatloaf next time
I am from the UK and will be arriving in New York. Might visit this place.
Definitely do,you won’t be disappointed
Definitely visit!
You should. Flatbush has nice West Indian food too
I truly recommend it
I agree 100%
Watching this live...leaving from Mt. Vernon to get one of these RIIIIIIIGHT now.
Hahahahah! That’s awesome!!!
😅😅😅😅😅😅❤❤❤❤
You should also check Central Caribbean Bakery in the Bronx. Their patties and baked goods are excellent. 1322 East Gun Hill Road. It think their spicier and has more filling than Juicee or Tastee patties.
On my list to try! Thanks bro
@@SOAIVLOGSthere’s a place called Tastee Delicious that also does the coco bread but they make a very decent curry goat patty… it’s seasonal so I’m not sure if they always carry it but it’s the closest thing to the old school style of patty- there are actually 2 Tastee companies in New York… not associated with the Jamaican Chinese Tastee
Cross road patty and coco bread hit different for real
Yuh know it bro
Was just there today. Best cocoa bread in the whole NYC
Glad you agree!!!!!!
Best Patty I’ve had since being in the states is from the brand “Caribbean Food Delights” hands down. They got everything right. I just follow the microwave instructions and then put in the air fryer for a couple minutes. *chef kiss*
Really good review 👍
I’ve indeed had a few microwaveable to be truthful
This gentleman is definitely a pattiologist!!
Lmaooooooooooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I almost searched the word on google 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@ 😂😂😂😂🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿👍🏽❤️ you went to Bridget Sandals son Sean restaurant in Chelsea BIG TINGS??? you need to go there..
The history of the Pattie is from Cornwall UK as in the Cornish pasty.During colonial times the marriage of ingredients and people created this mix of textures and flavours resulting in the Jamaican pastie by which we all enjoy.
Someone needs to send me a Jamaican care package 😢with everything in it
I always wonder what the food critics do with all the food they ordered. Thank you for the new content.
I definitely order what I can eat and something to take home 🤣.
My favorite is Jamaican Flavors in Jamaica Ave in Queens but I will try this place in the Bronx soon.
Hope you like it
Stephen....you're too funny. Love this series.
🤣🤣🤣 thanks
Thanks for this video. It brings back memories of the days I livd in the Bronx. I visited that corner many times as I lived maybe about 2 miles away on Monticello Ave. I never had their coco bread but my aunt loved buying their Hard Dough bread, and I loved eating their patties. Blessings.
For me, it brought me back to 1979 while going to Clarendon College. Getting patty or meatloaf with Coco Bread with a Box Juice. Fun times
You’re welcome
For the best patties and equally good coco bread, go to a small bakery at 238th ( Nereid ave) and white plains rd. It’s on the opposite side of Dunkin’ Donuts.
Facts, love their Coco bread, Mongoose bread, and the veggie patties.
@ that’s also my go to spot for bun and cheese 👌🏾
Love the edit bro
Appreciate it bro
It was a pleasure meeting you that day Stephen.
I walked up to you and said stuck on an island.
I remember you! It was indeed a pleasure!
🙂The speaker has a lovely voice..good for voice acting, narrating💐
Nice! 😊
Lovely voice for broadcasting, radio or TV, acting, narrating or poetry. He has the entire package. Bless-up yuteman.
First time watching your vlog jamaican in canada 🇯🇲🇨🇦
Welcome to the family! I hope you enjoy the channel!
Soai got some gems on here, just have some Jamaican food when you watch,I make a playlist every few months and watch them all
The Jamaica I left in 1993 is gone but I the new one through soai,I have a Jamaica in my head that is long gone, the crime rate is unbelievable, the fear Of The Almighty is not in people like past times
You found treasures when you found this channel, leave a comment when you watch them
Welcome to vlog SOAI, stay save on that scooter 😕 that big Patty
He got the most camera angles, when he put the camera by his shoes that took me out, He's legit
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@SOAIVLOGS lol
They make great patties. Used to visit that place when I lived in the Bronx. Someone there told me that the staff is/was the original staff of Tastee Patties on HalfWay Tree Rd
Ohhhhh that’s interesting!
You know soai is a taste fan😅😅😅😅😅😅
6:13 the guy coming out dancing, eating his patty must tell us what we need to know 😂
I see it made you dance too😂
Hahahahha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You’re not alone Stephen, but I actually do both. I pinch of piece piece of the coco bread and eat the rest with the patty or just eat it with the patty entirely. I guess I subconsciously eat the coco bread down a bit so the ratio is much better, but it works out with Kingston Bakery because they have a lot of meat in their patties.
I agree!
Love it!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Patty and cocoa bread looks yummy Stephan
It was!
That is one delicious patty
Hope to try it one day when i visit ny again 😊
It's definitely worth the trip! Especially if you’re missing a patty and cocobread
Hey boss the chicken patties are good too.The cocoa bread is the best,Imagine having tuna fish with the cocoa bread,Every time I go to that store and decide to buy a extra cocoa bread with intentions of taking it home and making tuna to eat with it for some reason that extra cocoa bread doesn’t make it home 😂.👀💯🙏🇯🇲
That’s a good call! I’m definitely buying extra coco bread 🤣. I’ll be back to try the veg and chicken patty! I also need to get another bread 🤣
I grewup on those! yooooooooo . Ya must try the veggie patties! they are insane!
Definitely will!
❤❤❤❤
The thing people need to know is that when you buy Jamaican food anywhere else than Jamaica the taste will not be the same. The coco bread is usually the same consistency but everything else will not. Then there are places that say Jamaican food, but is not really Jamaican (rip off).
Yup! Spot on
Sugar N Spice patties in Jamaica is good also. There's one on the corner of Eastwood Park Road and Redhills Road in Kingston 8. There's one up Manor Park Plaza, Constant Spring Road. 💯
I used to eat at least 6 patty’s a week from sugar and spice 🤣
@SOAIVLOGS The crust on their patties are insane and flaky. 😋
Sugar and Spice patties is Tastee 😂.
@jankanu1 Well it taste better than Tastee patties. 😋
Bro your editing is always on point. I’m loving the transitions and the annotations. Good stuff!
Appreciate it bro! I see you know your stuff
@SOAIVLOGS I’m a developer so I know a little thing or two about tech jargon 😂🤓
Respect
Great show. Riding through the lanes was a thrill. Please stay safe. You never seen the Bun and Cheese package that way? Wow! I have not seen Meatloaf since Jamaica in 1983
I haven’t seen meatloaf in a long time too!!!
I haven't seen meatloaf since 1993 😅😅😅😅
I Really enjoyed your video on this topic My Caribbean family, I really like how you drink tea/coffee from a Enameled Cup, Mine is red too, 😆 I am from Trinidad 🇹🇹 so you know we make some good bread too, one of my favorite is our Butter Bread, it be similar to your Jamaican 🇯🇲coco bread 🥖, but when I break it open and eat, Man I taste my own Home in Trinidad 🇹🇹 with every bite of it., 🤣👆🏾so I have never eaten at that restaurant in New York, but thanks to you, I will take a Drive down to New York and have some Vege, &. Chicken, & Beef Patties., Thanks bro from your Trini 🇹🇹 family outside New York City…! 😁❤️🇹🇹🌈🇯🇲🥖🙏🏾👆🏾
Thanks so much! If you know any good trini spots besides Trinicity let me know
@SOAIVLOGS i do know of 3 for now, Trini Roti shop in Queen's NYC, on Liberty Ave, Ali's Roti shop in Flatbush Brooklyn., & AA west Indian Restaurant Also in Brooklyn NYC.., I hope this helps, much Respect and Love with God to you Family..! 😁❤️🥘🌈🇹🇹☝🏾

On my list
I got to visit that place Good Eats
Nice! Glad you did
Some restaurants sells the crust alone 🎉🎉
Yupppppppp! There is one in Ja that does it
STEPHEN, KINGSTON BAKERY IS ONE OF THE BEST FOR SURE; THEY CARROTCAKE ARE SO GOOD
THEY BREAD "ROLLINMYEYES" NEVER LAST IN MY HOUSEHOLD LOL,, REALLY NICE AND SOFT..
LOL STEPHEN, YOU LOOK SO DIFFERENT NOT S.O.A.I 🇯🇲
THANKS FOR SHARING..KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK 👍 🙏 WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOU.
Thanks Faith! My bread is already done so when I visit I’ll have to try that cake you mentioned 😃. Much love
Their veggie patties are the truth at the first spot
So I heard
The best hard dough bread is not in Brooklyn or in Queens. It's a bakery in Baldwin, Long Island called "George's Jamaican Bakery" The bread there is so soft and chewy. I love it when it's hot. Just made, it will blow your mind.
I agree 👍🏾 from Hempstead Long Island and remember it well
Gotta make a trip out there then! I hope you are right haha!
Sir 10.00 in NY is just the hardo bread and patty alone lol.
U R doing good! Keep grinding..
Thanks, I appreciate it
Try Royal Caribbean Bakery ...they have a small branch in stone mountain georgia and i use to get the hardough bread there and it was good. The main bakery is in new york so you should be able to get it there and probably taste better since fresher..
Appreciate the tip, I'll check them out!
Go down the block literally for the best beef patty. 3978 white plains road, champion bakery. The crisp the juicy beef the soft tasty coco bread 🤤🤤🤤
Gotta add that to the list!
What street is that on i live Atlanta now every time I do come back home I like the Jamaican restaurant that the stop right after gun hill rd since my family who i stay with lives close they're called gold star all the food is very good you have to try the sorrel with rum oh my God
I was just there like 2 weeks ago I got bread for my wife and bun and cheese I usually go to the Antigua bakery like four blocks from there to get Antigua Sunday bread
What’s the name of that spot?
@SOAIVLOGS it's called alcohol bakery is right on the corner of 220 White plains road they have a lot of good pastries. The coconut roll currants roll if you go on Saturday there used to be a guy that sell pudding Saturdays I think is the best day to go in the afternoon but it can get real busy
Looking good
Thanks 👍
Fire great video 😊😊
Champion Bakery
This is the name of a bakery here?
🤦🏽♂️ , now that spot is gonna be crazy with people 👀👀

Yes😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah, Kingston Tropical is the best in the Bronx to me. Also, you keep coming to my area and no meet and greet lol
Gotta hit me up on ig

Looks delicious but like you said a true Jamaican patty is flaky no the less I can’t wait for your next vid 👏🏾
Coming soon!
The name of that patty shop was royal Caribbean bakery they had the best patty don’t know how it is now I used to live 2 blocks from there
I will visit
I love this place. Been going since I was a child. I enjoy more than some of the patties I’ve had when I visited Jamaica lol. You went back inside they deserve higher than a 7 for the patty lol. I get what you mean about the crust but I still love it. They will always be a 10 in my book.
Love it 💕💕💕 is love it❤❤❤❤
Thanks!
If it's Spicey Nice I have to go there! Ialways had teir patties, etc. It's very good. On par with Juici n Tastee.
I love it there!
Patties in Jamaica have no meat, coco bread is small and hard
Please try champion bakery on white plains road Bronx Ny for duck bread and Pattie’s would love to see the video 🤍
I just put in on my list! Thanks to you and others!
Spicy nice have the best hard Dow bread & callaloo Loaf in Jamaica its in Falmouth
Falmouth born and grow so I have to agree!
i was gonna say u said $10 get u , patty, coco bread, soda and hardough bread. it would be 8.50 plus hardough bread of 5 dollars so that would be 13.50 or 14.. but I saw at the end you went back in to buy more patty and hardough bread....
Yup!
No problem, if it's school patty texture. I enjoy the vegetable patty back then. Sufa patties sold the cheapest patties, it was mid line flaky. If you couldn't buy tastees, you could always get 2 parties for the price of one Tastees patty. That's if your running short on cash. Clip put a smile on my face, seeing not only you enjoying it. Doing the food dance. 😊 I usually pick up a box, here in Toronto, Ont, Canada. You can Two good brand here,if your ever visiting during Carribbana Google Danforth Markets. You will find a store close by you.
You know it’s a whole vibe! Those were the days when you could get a double deal.

Restaurant name? I’ll check it out
The coco bread is the best I've ever had, but the patty is non traditional which has a sweet taste to it, along with the crust which is also non traditional, but still good
There are just as good or better patty spots here in Flatbush Brooklyn where I am, but their coco bread is definitely unmatched!!!
Thanks for sharing that, I’ll have to check out your spot in Brooklyn.

Will do!
@@SOAIVLOGS get the currants rolls and coconut buns
Nice
Appreciate it!
my place you dey white plains rd
Nice
Very few people make patties from scratch… and from a monetary standpoint, it takes labor to get the patties flaky plus the cost of the fat- most big companies don’t even use suet anymore because they have the crowd already… and to keep costs down they make the patty that way- would love to get your input on my product -
The suet is the key ingredient
I know its winter...but I just left the Museum of Ice Cream in Manhattan and learned that Grape Nut Ice Cream was not invented by Jamaica. Who knew.
Interesting! Who invented it?
@@Luvlymomo Apparently it was invented in New England.
Woooooooooooo!!!!!!!
I’m wondering too 🤔
A Jamaica own dat. A weh you a sey.
Greetings. Good job. Not far from where you are is Golden KRUST on Gun Hill Road. I lived in the Bronx for a long time but this was not my favorite patty. I’ll be watching.
Thanks, I’ve passed that Golden Krust a few times, I think there are two on the stretch
