  • In February 2017, the City of Las Vegas, Clark County Department of Juvenile Justice Services, and the Clark County School District, in conjunction with numerous community partners, launched the reimagined Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance (the Alliance). This alliance evolved from the original 2014 My Brother’s Keeper Initiative work with the aim of developing work groups to take targeted action in improving the lives of youth at highest risk for poor life outcomes. Instituted in the wake of a national youth crisis, the Alliance is working to improve conditions for children. The Alliance has been instrumental in working to address academic underachievement for students of color, the overrepresentation of minority youth in the juvenile justice system, and racial and ethnic disparities in disciplinary actions. The Alliance equips educators with resources such as positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS), raising awareness about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and offering healing-centered tools to increase grade level proficiency and partnering to ensure southern Nevada’s youth graduate college and career ready.
The Alliance hosts three primary conferences to raise awareness about issues impacting our most vulnerable youth and to empower youth at highest risk for school dropout, incarceration, and other harmful experiences that create a negative economic impact on the community at large. The Alliance host an adult conference, young women’s conference, and young men’s conference. This video is a recap of the 3rd Annual Young Men’s Conference hosted at the College of Southern Nevada at the North Las Vegas Campus.
