scaling exist you know?, take gta vice city for example, its ~15km², but when you explore it, walk or drive around the map, it feels smaller than for example new york from AC3 which is less than 1km², thats mostly because of scaling but also character mobility and other things

I've been playing Valhalla for a while now and Odyssey's map is far superior. As someone who lives in rural England, I'd much rather be exploring lush Greek islands with all their beauty than running through farmers fields and up the green hills of my homeland. I see enough fields and hills in my daily life for them to excite me in the game. Odyssey felt like escapism whereas Valhalla looks like outside my window.
The zones in Assassin's Creed Valhalla include Norway (15 km²), England (120 km²), Vinland (2.8 km²), Asgard (1.56 km²), Jotunheim (1.2 km²), with the additional DLC regions of Ireland (approximately 18 km²), Francia (approximately 20 km²), Isle of Skye (approximately 1.5 km²), and Svartalfheim (approximately 35 km²), totaling around 214.26 km² for the base game and DLCs combined.
It's weird how valhalla and origins maps felt so much bigger than Odyssey. And how AC3 frontier feels massive when Unitys and Syndicate are a little bigger.
Well when I played Odyssey after Origins, I felt as if Odyssey is the longest game with the biggest map I have ever played. But now when I replayed Origins, I feel like the Origins map is bigger or at least up to Odyssey's level. Maybe if I replay Odyssey my thoughts would change
I think he might've just been showing fan-favorite maps from each game. Because for AC3, New York was in the video but not Boston, even though they're similarly sized. Would be a cool idea though to do every single map.
I feel like if you took all the regions of origins that have the Nile going through them (like 1/3 of the map) you’d get a map kinda similar to the province of Baghdad in Mirage. On a separate note, I’m glad you mentioned Mirage. It’s one of my favorite ac games. I still want an AC1 remake, but mirage definitely scratches that itch temporarily.
Having recently started the games and going from, Black Flag, Rouge, Odyssey, and now Syndicate, I started with the big ones. There was so much sailing in Black Flag, it took time to go places. But so much of it was on the water. Odyssey feels larger in a different way because the land area is so large and you can do most of the game without sailing. Rouge feels smaller because the distances between islands were just small jumps. Playing syndicate now and I thought a small map and single city would feel smaller but it seems huge
Since you doing ubi games, you think you’ll ever do Far Cry? I want to see the evolution. Company might gone rotten but no one can ever accuse them of not making every game world beautiful
LondoD instead of LondoN? Rouge instead of RoGUe? OriGNs instead of OrigIns? Seriously? Anyways, interesting video. I'm playing Valhalla since... around 1,5 YEAR (not playing sometimes during weeks, but anyways...)... That's waaaaayyyy too big. Own Odyssey since year, but didn't play it yet... and I'm even more afraid seeing the size of it, bigger than Valhalla... OUCH! Played the other, and Black Flag is one of the biggest, but didn't seem that big. Most of it being seas. The lands are very big, but waaaaayy less than in some other of the games.
Ac valhalla has norway which is bigger than unity map then vinland, paris, ireland or dublin, asguard & jotunhiem & hellhiem & svarthiem each one them is big
@GodTierComments Too big to be fun. It's mostly empty countryside. Assassin's Creed is at its best with a dense, urban environment. That's why the series has parkour.
The Odyssey map is glorious. So dense and still so vast.
Would not describe odyssey map as dense. So many camps and caves were identical. It's nice to look at but too big and often boring
Finally one that actually gets the size of Black Flag and Odyssey correct.
Shame cus most of them look wrong and off scale

So did Origins.
Landmass wise it’s about the same but Odyssey has a lot of water
Probably cause Odyssey is a bunch of smaller islands while Valhalla is just straight up landmass. It also had more maps.
because it had shitload of dlc and odysey is 2/3 sea, The zones in Assassin's Creed Valhalla include Norway (15 km²), England (120 km²), Vinland (2.8 km²), Asgard (1.56 km²), Jotunheim (1.2 km²), with the additional DLC regions of Ireland (approximately 18 km²), Francia (approximately 20 km²), Isle of Skye (approximately 1.5 km²), and Svartalfheim (approximately 35 km²), totaling around 214.26 km² for the base game and DLCs combined.

It quite interesting how environment can change our perspective on scale.

@Mythical.History I think Odyssey is a longer game, but the map felt a bit smaller to me due to it being like 40% water
@iv9496 Yeah
i recently played AC1 and found 3 cities and for me they were quite normal sized maybe big but after watching this video i am speechless
You showed all AC 2 maps but you did not do that for AC 1. First game also had multiple maps: Acre, Damascus and Jerusalem. Also bonus, Masyaf
I think he might've just been showing fan-favorite maps from each game. Because for AC3, New York was in the video but not Boston, even though they're similarly sized. Would be a cool idea though to do every single map.
How has no one noticed that they include showed ONE DISTRICT of Damascus
They missed a few cities from AC2.
Mirage ?
It seems everyone forgets it's an Assassin's Creed game
true...I like the game
The map has a certain size, but we mainly play in Bagdad. Same for the Valhalla one: there is nothing to do in the seas of England.
I feel like if you took all the regions of origins that have the Nile going through them (like 1/3 of the map) you’d get a map kinda similar to the province of Baghdad in Mirage.

Crazy I entered the AC franchise with Odyssey. I was overwhelmed. After that I played other titles and they were all like a little garden walk.
Really cool mate keep it up!
Revelations felt like the smallest Assassin’s Creed ever tbh.
It was really dense. I want dense cities again. I should be able to travel far without touching the ground.
