I have more respect for this man than any other player in the entire NFL.

My husband is in that photo. He served with you and was there for that moment . Jesse's name will always be carried with us in our home . He will never be forgotten. We will visit texas one day, u til then he will always be with us. Also remember the ones who make it home and struggle every day.
ive had a ton of friends enlist and serve, my father was a marine and really its always good to hear these stories, both good and bad. keeps life in perspective.

The entire team was standing in the hall enroute to head out of the tunnel until the anthem started and then they stopped dead in their tracks to pay respect to our anthem.
Look it up and you'll find images showing the entire team standing just over his shoulder, but the media doesn't want to share the real story.....after all it doesn't sell their narrative!

I can watch this video a million times. It moves me each time. This guy is a brave American hero. Stood proud in the stadium while the anthem was played. And his weak teammates and weaker coach stayed in the locker room.

I've actually met Alex Villanueva! He has been in my house haha.
My name is Cade Southern and Jesse Detrick was my cousin. He passed away when I was 6 and I unfortunately didn't know him that well. I deeply regret not getting to know him when I was young because I heard he was a great man, but my two older sisters have still told me great stories about him.

As a Army Vet myself *(From 2013-2016)* i know that feeling. I to lost a battle buddy who never saw his 21 birthday back in 2015. My word of advise to any civilian who is reading this, please understand that most soilders aren't these war loving nutjobs but, people who are willing to risk it all for a greater good.

@@honestguy7764 He grew up in Rota (Spain) and afterwards in Belgium, his father is a Spanish Army Official working for NATO and that's the reason why Alejandro grew up in the US and later on in other NATO bases. As he has said, he's loyal to both nations.

As a first generation born American from Cuban parents, I feel ur pride and pain Mr. Villanueva. We both served a beautiful country and unlike the multi generational Americans that take this country for granted. We understand. My flag has 50 stars and is only flag I will fight and die for. We come to a day celebrated every year that reminds us of those that have given their all. The ones that through a choice made a sacrifice that has made our current lives possible. You post the love you have for the life you live and the freedom and financial benefit you enjoy. You know who you are. There is also the need for you to praise the men and women that have paid the price for you to have what you have, If not for their sacrifices, you would have nothing.

Jesse is my cousin. I mourned his loss and I am honored to have known him. And I am no less honored to support every right he fought for, including the one to protest. I can kneel in protest of injustice, to fight for equality for my black son, and still respect everything my cousin did in his short life. One does not disqualify the other.

This should be played before every sporting event on the big screen prior to the anthem. Then you make a decision whether to stand or kneel for the anthem. There are people that call Kaepernick a hero for what he did and today Gabe Kepler wants to sit in the clubhouse while the anthem is played. You guys go tell your story to the people grieving today for the loss of the son or daughter lost in battle for the right for you to enjoy the freedom that allows you to play and coach a game that makes you millions. Please go visit a Gold Star family and tell them your compelling story and show them what a hero you are.
