- Sand Dust Coming From Hard Working Locomotives Fighting A Grain Train Up The Long Steep Hill! Steel Coils Train With DPU Working Up The Hill, Friendly Norfolk Southern Crew Gives A Train Horn Salute, CSX Train Gets A Radar Speed Check & Norfolk Southern Train Gets A Radar Speed Check. 7 Trains At Railroad Crossings And Historic House In Kentucky. These trains are in Crescent Springs, Florence And Walton, Kentucky. Did I mention the John Deere tractors?
Perfect weather and awesome trains in Kentucky! I went to several different locations in Northern Kentucky trying to find some hard working trains and some trains with DPUs. I was blessed with some awesome Live Action. Listen to the DPU working hard on the 3rd train. That train is at a railroad crossing in Florence, Kentucky on Totten Lane. I love that spot.
After getting the trains going up the hill out of the Ohio River Valley and getting the heavy train in Florence I went over to Walton. This is where the house sits between CSX and Norfolk Southern tracks. This is the oldest house in Walton and is owned by the city of Walton. Railfans are welcome here and there is a couple of picnic tables for fans to enjoy the views.
Due to popular demand I brought out the radar gizmo again. I used it on a couple of trains. We see how fast the CSX train behind the home is going and then we see how fast a Norfolk Southern train in front of the house is going. Which train is your favourite? What did you think about seeing more John Deere tractors? A few days ago a man was walking down the tracks in Walton and got hit by a train. The train was blowing the horn so I don't know why the man was struck. However, I saw it on the television news and they showed a train passing by with more John Deere tractors. I just thought that was interesting. The train that I filmed with the tractors was Train number 123.
This video also has some scenes from my farm with the Live Action Pets. I took the dogs for a walk through the fields and looked around. The slide show from this video follows the farm scenes. It looks like my farm is going to grow by another 8 acres.
Filmed Thursday, May 2, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Glad you like them!
Thank you for bringing your speed detector
No problem 👍
Agree 😊
Lots of steel coils moving lately. I worked at a sheet metal shop back in the early 1990s that had steel coils in the yard. We manufactured commercial grade stoves, grills, ranges, and ovens for hotel chains cruise ships, military ships, and military installations. They cut the raw steel on coils to sheets, ran the edges of the sheets through a seamer that cut the burs off of the edges, then cut it into specific sizes, shaped it with brake machines, and on and on… It was fascinating watching how the steel went from coils to finished commercial cooking equipment all in one shop. We even had a shop that built the switches and gas and electrical components.
Isn’t it crazy how seeing those coils brought back that memory.
That is awesome! I would like to see how that is done. Thanks for the information!
D-P-U-I-C-U. Morning Jaw Tooth, it looked like a great day to video. Long grain train, steel coils and a NS that ws a flyer. Always love the videos at Abner Gaines house. Looks like you are raising another soccer player. Loki. LOL
Another great morning with my coffee watching these awesome
trains in Kentucky and Ohio some of them may be heavy and going
slow but i really like them going kinda slow, always great to see the
DPU'S with them and the new John Deere tractors was really awesome
but of course always nice to see the live action pets with Chessie, Loki, Brandi and Norfy making cameo appearances along with the exciting
train slide show, as always Thanks for your videos Thank You Jaw Tooth.

The most awesome site in railroading, heavy trains working hard upgrade sanding the rails, another is a great horn salute. Nice job JT.👍🏼
Gm jawtooth nice catches
Wow! 88 cars with only one unit pulling. That’s probably the longest pull I’ve seen with one engine.
great catches jawtooth!
Some good power behind that dpu. Dpu I see you! That was a great steel coil train Jawtooth! Never knew what those were til you said so. Lol
Thanks 👍
But it was a good train, JT! So was your video! Beautiful scenery, too.I just adore that area. 😊 I always appreciate your posts and you always make them fun and interesting, not to mention your pets. Thank you very much JT. Have a great week. 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! You too!
@@JawTooth Certainly.
I love grain trains and john deer tractors🇺🇸
The first two trains going up The Hill at Beechwood Road in Crescent City, Kentucky were impressive. The grain train needed the sand to help it get up The Hill. You caught the southbound daily steel coil train going up The Hill. You also caught the northbound empty daily steel coil train at the Totten Lane crossing. I remember that previous video that you had taken at Totten Road when the workers were up on the communication tower, and we heard them talking as they were working on the tower. The CSX and Norfolk Southern trains that you caught at the Abner Gaines were interesting to watch as they passed.
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Thanks will do !
Chessie is the best! She looks so sweet and loves the Live Action...Norfie!!! Best Railcat on YT. She is so big now. Very shiny and sleek coat!! Great video by the way, Jaw Tooth! I like the Abner Gaines Area.
Out on range nice
Two more excellent mixed freights. The first was over 100 cars and the second could have been! 😊😊😊😊❤❤.❤.❤
Yes indeed!
Love the hard working hill action. Excellent video start to stop, liked it much. Thanks JT!
Thanks 👍
That was a long grain train, JT. 95 very heavy cars, and it was sounding fantastic! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Yes it was!
One pulling and one pushing on this coil train! Cooool! 😎👍
I always enjoy seeing heavy equipment and tractors being transported via rail.
Same here!
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 👍🙏
Great Film 😁
Thanks!
I remember the video , where the two workers were on top of that tall tower.
Gm JT another nice spot to shoot trains have you been to that spot before
Thanks for comment
Yes, I have been there before. It is a nice spot though. Thanks for watching!
@@JawTooth I remember both spots that one spot is were the girl walked across the track when a train was comming you had on your video have a nice day and where you off too now
My goodness that is a long uphill train. Very nice. I love your farm.
Thank you very much!
Hi JT, just having my early evening cup of tea enjoying your video! Wowsers that train was HEAVY! going up the hill. Love the shot of the mixed manifest train coming under the bridge, very nice. Seen a lot of John Deer these past few days! Kentucky looking beautiful in the sunshine. I love when you film at the Walton house but tragic news about the man hit by the train, 😢 horn salute from my favourite train! Awesome. Thank you very much JT see you on the next one, ❤😊👍👋
Good catch 👍
Thank you very much!
Green paint means big money!
Long train! 🤔
Awesome video with a dpu working hard and a horn salute but wait there’s more 👍🇺🇸😎🚂👍
Thanks for watching!
That's cool Norfolk Southern was taking the loaded grain train out, can CSX was dragging back a bunch of empties.
Another great video JT and that NS grain train that was headed south to Chattanooga is most probably coming on to New Orleans Louisiana but anyway, my friend you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll catch you on the next one
Thanks for watching Timmy!
I noticed all the power was lashed up front on that grain train. I am surprised there was no DPU in the middle or at the end. 73 Mr. Tooth.
Those coils can be up to 50,000 pounds each.
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, including the NS 26c in Florence, Kentucky, I like them, they're awesome, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you very much.
Thank you very much!

Please, Come on People , the *"Thumbs uP 👍"* doesn't cost you anything.
Step by step up the hill we go. Your comment about the shiny wheel just shows how dirty they get and if you remember back to the old days a friction bearing trucks all the oil and dirt that would accumulate on them. Well let's solve the Mysteries. Many of the cars are marked STLX which represents AE Staley and later became part of Tate & Lyle. About 2 years ago they spun off most of their interest and the recipient of this load of Illinois or Indiana corn should be Primient in Loudon TN where it will be converted to either ethanol or corn syrup. It's always nice to watch the coil train on their daily run and today moves right up that hill as if it wasn't there. The third train went by in almost a blur and the fourth train did pretty well. Special note that two cars behind the tractors is a load of Smart Siding sent to you by Jason from the Upper Penninsula. The placement of their DPU was a bit unique in that it had 19 cars. behind it so perhaps it was going to make a set out down the line. Another day Trackside with JT and it's off to another photo location
Thanks for your comments Paul! That gives me a lot of information to think on. Pretty cool that a car came from Jasons area. Thanks for watching!
Awesome train day! Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
I was thinking the mixed freight starting at 13 mins had everything but an auto rack. Then boom, the last car didn't disappoint.
Shout out to Mrs JawTooth 👌👌
Another great video JawTooth 🚆🚂🚃🚆🚂🚃
Thanks for watching
Hey jaw tooth cool trains. It's fun listening to hard working engines. Seeing sand coming out. I can see sand dust on 1st train. Surprised no DPU on 1st one. Have a great railroad day. 🚂🙋♀️
Thanks for watching!
Great vibes and great video of recording all these trains 👏👏 my dad is a big fan of trains too!
Thank you very much!
Cool.
Thanks!
Those coil trains are awesome, a 18 wheeler can only carry one of those coils That train was booking a good location for the speed device, I hope you take it with you when you go to the bouncing bridge.👍👍
You got that right! I will go back there soon and take it
@@JawTooth Awesome JT
Very pretty blue sky there, like that here in Michigan some days also.

Unfortunately no trains here in the Philippines, other than a very small public transit line in Manila but that's it for choo choo Charlie I'm afraid hahaha 😆 Halong = Take care
Hi Jaw & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Jaw & Friends Randy
First train was eight minutes long to get past those crossings. 😮
I was Surprised that there was no *DPU* .
Not sure why they didn't have a DPU unless maybe the train had a bunch of empties
Quite the long, fast mixed freight with a DPU on the rear of the train. God catch, JT! Thank you very much. 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Thank you too!

Had to wait 2 hours to get to my truck very long train over 2 hundred cars
Parabens pelo vídeo. JT!! Muito sucesso para vc…🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for watching!
Love your videos. I get plenty of flat spots on almost every train. Train from Eagle Pass came by the other day with 3 motors, only one was working. Train hit the hill at 0.04 mph. They did get permission to turn the other units on,
That is awesome!
Hey, thanks for the video! I enjoy your videos, especially
your switching videos. Second
would be slow movers like that
grain train! Any trains are good!
Anyway, that grain train was made up of ex-A. E. Staley cars.
The mainly STLX reporting marks gave it away. It may be
heading towards Loudon, TN.
There’s a former A. E. Staley
corn syrup plant, there.
A. E. Staley was bought out by
Tate & Lyle from the UK. Now the primary products part of the
business (corn sweeteners,
ethanol, etc.) has been rebranded Primient and is owned 50/50 by Tate & Lyle and
KPS Capital Partners, whoever
they are. I counted 94 cars, so
they’re either short 6 cars of
their 100 car train; or they’ve got 4 extra cars (empties?) of a
90 car train. They go by contract, now days, to get a
certain rate. I’ve seen NS grain
trains, in my area, go from 72 to
75 to 80 to 85 to 90 to 100 cars. Some have a few more than 100 to 110. I know BNSF
gives premium rates to shuttle
loaders that load 110 car trains.
These are the loop tracks that
load on the move, like some of
the coal trains.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Anymore its the graffiti that makes the rail fanning really aw some to watch Brian. Love to see what they create next on those cars.
You and me both!

Not sure yet. thanks for watching!
On your videos, I not hearing as many flat wheels as I did during your videos during and shortly after the covid pandemic.
Grain, grain, it's grain they say on the near side of the hill ....
Can you put in a video how these DPU machines work,,is there someone who could explain it..just curious about this,, for sharing..😊
th-cam.com/video/8M9pErSaElk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CPil40RBSBATb1ib
Instead of putting all the power at the front of the train a dpu or distributed power unit is placed in the center or at the end of the train. This reduces stress on the lead locomotives and distributes power more evenly throughout the trsin.
Agreed. I have wondered how it works
The engineer has a remote in the cab where he controls the dpus this reduces slack and helps the brakes apply faster since each locomotive has an air compressor on it
@@BobSmith-mj7ikI wondered why they did that. I imagine it comes in handy going up steep grades.
Hey my brother awesome video hey you could use one of them John Deer tractor on your farm.
That only got 3 units on that one I did a video that 4 lead unit on it in Cohutta Georgia.
You still have a great video.
