    03:26 Cindy's thoughts on the Beasy Board
    Cindy is reviewing 3 styles of Beasy Transfer Boards (BeasyTrans, BeasyGlyder and Beasy ll) and demonstrating a wheelchair to chair transfer. The individual being transferred needs to have decent trunk control in sitting for safety when using a Beasy transfer board. Beasy boards are intended for use with the assistance of a caregiver. As caregivers, we always encourage the individual being cared for to assist as much as safe and appropriate. These 3 boards are different lengths and shapes in order to accommodate varying circumstances regarding space and distance for varying surface to surface transfers. The Beasy transfer boards can reduce the load/effort of the caregiver as well as eliminate friction on the skin of the individual being transferred. Beasy Board transfers will take practice for proper technique and safety.
    Please check out further instructional information on these transfer boards at beasyboards.com

    Which Beasy Board would recommend to get someone for a wheelchair (without removable arms) to a Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV?

    How does it work if the person cannot use arms or legs?

    • @AECorner
      @AECorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steven Spangenberg, thank you for your question. Use of a Beasy Board in that circumstance would most likely not be appropriate. We would recommend getting a local PT/OT consultation to see what might work best. Hope this was helpful.

      Draco-PG3D thank you for your question. This is difficult to answer due to not being able to see how well your mama is moving and how much she would be able to help. I would recommend getting a consultation from a local Physical Therapist to help you determine the easiest and safest way to help your mama into your SUV. ✌🏻❤️ AECorner.com

    • @AECorner
      @AECorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mariela Gil, we are sorry to hear this about your mom. Something like the Beasy Board or a standard sliding board might still be appropriate, but we cannot advise without seeing her. We would recommend that you talk to her doctor about getting a home health PT & OT referral so that they can advise you on the best & safest way for both you and your mom when transferring her. There may also be other equipment that might assist depending on her status. Take care & be safe!

      Alzheimer’s is very difficult for the individual as well as the caregivers. We would also suggest seeing if there is a local Alzheimer’s support group, if you haven’t already. It can be very helpful to be able to share with others who might be experiencing some of the things that you are. We wish you and your mom the best.

      The Beasy Trans:
      The model #1100 is the 40″ “Original S-shaped Transfer System” by Beasy. This model is ideal for automobile transfers. It has also been used successfully to boost or reposition patients in bed and with transferring larger profile patients.
      The Beasy 2:
      The model #1200 is a 28″ transfer system perfect for small areas, especially bathroom transfers. If the attending professional approves, this device may be used for independent transfers. Many facilities use the 1200 for boosting patients into bed.
      The Beasy Glyder:
      The model #1300 is the 32″ transfer system. This device is a great solution for situations when the arm of the wheelchair is not removable or the wheel is an obstacle. The crescent shape of the board facilitates the caregivers natural transfer motions.

    It would be helpful if you could demonstrate how a person who's unable to use their arms or legs could be transferred by a caregiver.
    ALS eventually takes away one's ability to move as they become paralyzed.

    • @AECorner
      @AECorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marsha Hudgins, yes, ALS is a very debilitating disease. Depending on the progression of the disease, this device may not be appropriate. We always suggest that you get a local PT/OT consultation to determine what devices are needed for loved one and caregiver safety. Once the appropriate type of equipment is determined, we also recommend to check for local lending closets before having to purchase anything that is not covered by insurance.
