You don't. Just eat nothing and that shit goes straight through. Main thing is not to drink too quickly, it's the gas that gets ya. Most people drinking 8 pints on a night out are doing that over like 4 hours if they have a drink or two before they go out.
Not sure about the rest of the uk but where I live we ‘pre-drink’ at a friends with the intention to get tipsy before going out so you don’t spend too much money, then go to the local spoons (chain pub) about 9:30/10pm have a couple of drinks there, head to a couple of clubs and stay out until between 2am and 4am so all these drinks are quite spread out

As someone who lives in Bellingham, WA, please come spend money in Bellingham. Sure, it's annoying that our Costco is packed with all the Canadians, but I know a ton of businesses in the county were hurting from the lack of Canadian business. r/Bellingham is just full of complainers who think that the only people that should be allowed in the city are the people born and raised here, everyone else needs to stay away. It's not a very welcoming community, which is the opposite of what I've experienced in person. The real people of the city are super nice.
