Darjeeling is a popular hill station located in West Bengal. This hill station is famous for its Darjeeling Toy Train. In this video, I am going to share my Experience from NJP to Darjeeling Toy Train Full Journey.
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway was built between 1879 and 1881 and has been in operation since 1881.
on 5 Dec 1999, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway received the distinction of being a UNESCO world heritage site. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is a popular tourist attraction and is considered one of the most scenic train rides in the world.
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, popularly known as the Darjeeling Toy Train, starts from NJP ( ( New Jalpaiguri )and travels up the hills to Darjeeling. The Darjeeling Toy Train runs on a narrow gauge track and offers breath-taking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. This train runs at a slow speed and it takes around 7 to 8 hours to reach Darjeeling.
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is famous for its unique zig-zag system. In this system, instead of going straight up a hill, the train reverses, changes tracks, and then moves forward. This reduces the stress on the engine and helps the train to climb the hill. The zig-zag system is a unique feature of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.
