    I’ve been a collector for 42 years and Ive never heard the Joint Venture reference! I’ve always known it to be Japanese Vintage!!!

      Joint Venture is correct. "Vintage" wasn't really a term thrown around in the guitar world in 1982, especially in reference to guitar models from the late 60s or 70s.

      I’ve heard this before

    Hi Luke, I’d be interested in the info you have found regarding the Joint Venture comment. I’ve always been a JV fan and never heard of this phrase. It’s always been Japanese Vintage historically.

      I honestly can’t remember my resource for this, but will try and digit out and let you know. Agreed most resources refer to it as “Japanese Vintage” and I initially believed this was correct. Maybe I’m wrong! 😅 . I’ll be back….

      He's wrong. It is Japanese Vintage.

    Many thanks for uploading these videos. Great info.
    Seems to me that many present day Squiers are also great guitars.

      congrats? how much did you pay for it? I just got an SQ from '83. all original

      @@emdbluesI actually traded in another JV for it. This one funks better than the other one haha! The SQ’s are great I tried a tele once that was tasty!

    • @emdblues
      @emdblues หลายเดือนก่อน

      @theyowiesmcr you traded a JV for an SQ. Interesting :)
      I paid 750€ for mine. Do you think it's a good price? I was thinking of buying a Silver Sky SE but this seems like a better deal. What's your opinion? How do you compare it to modern guitars in this price range?

    • @theyowiesmcr
      @theyowiesmcr หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@emdbluesNo no I mean I traded a JV tobacco sunburst for that white one on the video! An SQ wouldn’t be a fair trade! They are great guitars tho! I think for an SQ tele you are looking at 500-600
      I think the modern guitars are never worth it in my opinion, I work in a guitar shop and the newer models never seem to have as much magic or soul in them! I also think the MIJ stuff from the 80s is much better than modern guitars, vintage American and Japanese is the way to go!

    Great little vid', very clear dissemination of the guitar and its history. Is there an update with regards the price paid at auction for this particular instrument?

    I bought my Squier Strat in 1984 - has an 'SQ' serial number not 'JV'.
    Still have it btw and play it every day.

    Thanks Luke, very interesting. I have an 88 squire serial C007569 and I've played it into the ground ha ha. One of the best guitars I have.

    I thought the very early ones were either 2 colour SB for 57 and 3 colour SB for 62 ,maybe in UK it was different I live in Canada and only seen the above mentioned, I wish I could go back to 1982 and buy a few for 200 pound

    • @GHguitarauctions
      @GHguitarauctions  ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps… I have seen both Black and white 57 maple boards ones that appear original. Perhaps the very first “Squier Series” ones were SB only. I’d have to research this UK vs Canada vs other country aspect further….

    I have an original 82 JV ,
    same colour but single ply scratch board with the elusive ‘usa pickups fitted ‘ sticker still on it
    I bought it over 20 years ago from the original purchaser who played it a dozen times and then put it under his bed for 21 years, I don’t think it’s as nice as a japanese built hank Marvin strat I have but that’s just my opinion

    • @briersben
      @briersben 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Can you elaborate on the comparison with the MIJ Hank Marvin strat? I am currently on the fence of picking one up..
      It is in as new condition, with the pickups upgraded to Kinman pickups.. However, the asking price is a bit steep..
