The Torre delle Ciavole, also called Torre delle Ciaule, in the small town of Piraino , is one of the Camilliani watchtowers of the late sixteenth century. It rises on a promontory which extends from the shore to the sea for about thirty meters. The name Ciavole derives from the fact that different species of birds, in particular crows and jays, used to nest in its surroundings.
