Nice and fast ride gentlemen! I was wondering which long tunnel you took? Our trip to Vlissingen and then UK in August I planned through the Benelux tunnel, better than that ferry I guess. And this is promising for the OBT this year! CU somewhere!
The tunnel is the Heinenoordtunnel, between Heinenoord (duh) and Barendrecht. Mind you, officially you should take the other tube (behind the fences in the beginning and the end, on the right), but I've scared other cyclists there on multiple occasions so I don't like it so much. The tube we took is for slow motorized traffic (tractors, mopeds etc. and I believe the bus also drives there), but with a fast velomobile it's fairly easy to ride 45 km/h average through the tunnel so in my opinion it's a safer option than to go through the cyclist tube. Thank you! Via the Fietsersbond Routeplanner I made a route via the Benelux Tunnel, and the section for "slow" traffic. Heinenoord is bit too far east, we are taking the western route via the bridges and dams. I'll post on the forum so we can exchange routs!
It looks really warm and sunny, but it was rather chilly (5 degrees celcius). Nevertehless, a fantastic ride !
