- Carroll Shelby is one of the most iconic names in the world of fast American cars. Born in East Texas in 1923, Shelby was an accomplished racing driver, piloting Ferraris and Maseratis in competition. But Shelby wondered what a lightweight British car would be like with a powerful, reliable American V8 stuffed in the nose. The 1962 Shelby Cobra CSX 2000, with a 4.3-liter V8 engine under its hood, appeared in 1962.
The car accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in only 4.2 seconds but remained a one-off. It practically kickstarted the American sports car market, and Shelby went on to create the classic Cobra and decades of hot Fords. Shelby would even take over the struggling Ford racing program, winning the Le Mans with the Ford GT, beating Ferrari, and taking the three top spots. In the '90s, Shelby, well into retirement age, would even develop his own car, the Shelby Series 1.
We decided to find out what the fastest iconic Shelby models are over the years, focusing on models that were produced in multiple numbers and disregarding multiple versions with the same engine and specs. We also decided to highlight key Shelby models over the last sixty years. We ranked all the cars on this list according to 0-60 mph times, from slowest to fastest.

Love Your video, any video that has to do with Shelby, I'm watching it, I have a 2010 Shelby GT SVT convertible Performance white mustang 5.4 Triton engine , ripple supercharger I'm pushing 640 horses, I didn't know about the Shelby Code Red 1000 Horse's , WOW , Is that Legal on the roads . That's a dam NASCAR
The 65 Shelby GT350 is by far my favorite of all time. My God that car is beautiful. But of all the Modern Mustangs Made the S550 GT's, GT350's and GT500's are by far the best looking over all. to me anyway.

What about the 2000R?
Only 300 made and the only cobra made in 2000.
Dealers had a lottery to see who would even get one.
It was the most track focused cobra made that could still be registered for the road.

You can tell the Cobra was made in Cali just based off the fact it never came with a roof.. LOL.. Don't get me wrong I love that car. But have always hated convertibles so it's not my cup of tea.. I'm more of a coffee guy.. But it's bad ass car well ahead of its time..
The 2020 GT350 R only goes to 172? My 2016 GT 350 tops out at 178.
How long have you had your 350? Do you love it? I have a 13’ Boss 302, it’s fantastic, but I’ve always wanted a Gt350. Just not sure if it’s worth the $12K upgrade to get one!?
@ I got it in February last year. I love it. I was looking for a Boss as well but they were hard to find.
They are hard to find. It took me about 1.5 years to find mine. I wanted race red and low mileage. You’re lucky to find 25 or even 30 of them for sale across the entire United States at any given time.
I test drive a 350 last week and, but I had to baby it for the most part. The exhaust note is exhilarating! I also have a 19’ Bullitt, it feels as fast or dam close to the 350. First world problems on these decisions right, ha! What color did you get?

Please use Cubic inches not liters for engine size, only fitting for American muscle
I was told that a liter is aboout 60 cubic inches. So a 5.0. L would be in the ball park of 300 cubic inches. Works for me.
