There a now plenty of guitar builders videos out there but it needs something else for people to keep coming back, you sir are the reason I personally come back, a natural presenter.
I don't spend enough time making reusable jigs - they're definitely worthwhile. Something similar for clamping boards together to make laminated bodies and necks would make a clamp up less stressful too. Perhaps with a large silicone baking sheet on the underside.
Hi. Dave! New subscriber and guitar builder. I'm interested to know what are some good supplies to stock up on on a very tight budget for building jigs and homemade tools? I have all of the basic essentials. I have a bench drill press, band saw, belt and disc sander, and a bunch of hand power tools. I have a few routers and a router table, a small table saw, and a compound miter. What items besides plywood, 1x, and 2x that I should get in bulk on hand? Great video BTW! I have built a truss rod routing jig, a couple of fret slotting jigs, and a fret press using a can crusher, a 2x4, flip clamps, and springs. I'd love to get by without a bunch of trips to the hardware store. Thanks!
I’m always on the lookout for long bolts M6 or M8, butterfly nuts and threaded inserts for these. If you can get a pack of 4” or even better 6” they are great for making clamping jigs. I’ve just made a jig for gluing a bridge on an acoustic ( video out soon) using a couple of old rusted bolts I cleaned up and it works a treat. 18 and 12 mm ply is also great to have on hand, lookout for old furniture you can recycle. For guitar building I always bulk order fret wire ( 5m lengths), thin aluminum sheet(2mm) also comes in handy for homemade jackplug plates. Thank you for subbing I hope my videos may give you other ideas. Cheers Dave

Good stuff Dave. I look forward to seeing what you do in the future.

Good video Dave. I had you as a top 30 pick at least. For what it’s worth, I really like your work.
Thanks Ray, hope to see more of your guitar builds soon. Cheers Dave

I like it, my friend. I do everything in my garage so, I'm hoping I'll be able to use your ideas. Don't mind if i steal them? You're a champ! 🤘
Yep, I started in a garage, I hope these tips are useful. Cheers Dave
