Der weltbekannte Kurort Héviz liegt etwa 6 Kilometer nordwestlich vom Balaton, nahe der Stadt Keszthely, Komitat Zala und zählt zu den wohl bekanntesten Orten in Ungarn.
Das Herz der Stadt, der Thermalsee, hatte seinen Ursprung vor mehreren zehntausend Jahren. Damals entsprangen die warmen Quellen, die heute den bekannten Thermalsee speisen..
Schon die alten Römer kannten die heilsame Wirkung des Hévizer Wassers und nutzten sie auch.
Im Jahre 1795 ließ Graf Festetics den Ort zum Heilbad ausbauen, indem verschiedene Badehäuser und Kureinrichtungen errichten ließ.
Der Hévizer Thermalsee ist der zweitgrößte Thermal- teich weltweit, er besitzt eine Größe von 4,4 Hektar und ist ca. 36 Meter tief.
Der See wird von einer unterirdischen Thermalquelle gespeist, er hat somit auch im Winter noch eine angenehme Temperatur von etwa 25 Grad Cel- sius. Im Sommer beträgt die Wassertemperatur um die 35 Grad Celsius.
Hévíz ist ein mineralisches Quellwasser mit extrem viel heilsamer Wirkung. Dieses Wasser beinhaltet verschiedenen heilaktiven Substanzen und ist sehr reich an gelösten Mineralstoffen.
Auf einen Liter Heilwasser kommen mehr als 1.000 mg verschiedener Mineralsalze. Im Thermalwasser ist ein hoher Anteil an Schwefel und Radium, aber auch Bestandteile wie Magnesium, Natrium, Kalium, Kalzium, Kohlendioxid und Hydrogenkarbonat.

Even the ancient Romans knew about the healing effects of Hévizer water and used them.
In 1795, Count Festetics expanded the town into a spa by building various bathhouses and spa facilities.
The Hévizer thermal lake is the second largest thermal pond in the world, it has a size of 4.4 hectares and is approx. 36 meters deep.
The lake is fed by an underground thermal spring, so even in winter it has a pleasant temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius. In summer the water temperature is around 35 degrees Celsius.
Hévíz is a mineral spring water with extremely many healing effects. This water contains various healing substances and is very rich in dissolved minerals.
There are more than 1,000 mg of various mineral salts in one liter of medicinal water. The thermal water has a high proportion of sulfur and radium, but also components such as magnesium, sodium, potassium, calcium, carbon dioxide and hydrogen carbonate.
