Nicely done. As to the locks, the NFC connection is a deterrent in its own right. I’m surprised you didn’t install them sooner. BTW you can display them on the dash if you’d setup the BRP Go.
Just ordered one on Amazon, same price as sling mods but they had a silver option. Hope that makes finding that rear one a little easier. Ordered the light kits from sling mods and they will be here next week. Had been thinking about TPMS for a while and you made up my mind. Take care Chris
I have the same tpms valves on my Spyder and they work great! I can monitor the tpms on my dash through the BRP connect. (Yes, I am one who got it to work!) Great video Chris!
Great video as always, Chris. I had these on my Indian Chief and Springfield before I transitioned to my Spyder RT-L a couple of months ago. They installed easily and worked flawlessly on my Indians. So, I ordered the same trike-version that you feature in this video. However, my dealer told me that my stock tire valve stems are too short and I that would have to have the tires removed and the stock valve stems replaced with the extended valve stems that, as you showed, come with the FOBO-2 TPMS kit for three-wheelers. Now i I see that you just screwed 'em on and away you went!!! I'm flummoxed!
My tires are the standard Kenda tires. My model is 2023 RTL. They seem to fit perfectly. You might want to try putting them on. If they don’t fit, and your dealer is correct, you can switch out for the metal stem valves. Just a suggestion.
I've been using these and my AirMoto to stay on top of my pressures for about 3 months. I see folks talking about using the BRP Go interface. Thank goodness I've never had to mess with BRP Go. I've got a 2024 RTL with Apple CarPlay and all my go to apps are right there on the big beautiful screen. I too left the locks and valve stems in the box.
I've been using FOBO for a while and added a set as soon as I got my Spyder for the reason you mentioned (accessing the back tire) it seems to work really well. I've heard some people say they weren't as accurate out of the box and reset / set them themselves? The only comment I will make it that once you aren't moving the sensors go to sleep to save battery life so checking the tire pressure from your hotel / motel room more than likely won't work. Sadly even starting the bike sometimes won't wake them up and you have to move a bit. I know it kind of defeats the thinking but I've found that to be the case. ALSO very important for me is that if you do not have the app opened up (background seems to be ok) you might not get any alerts. I don't know if this is an apple thing or a FOBO thing but removed mine put air in the front tires and never got an alert. Also check if there are any firmware updates as the process is a little involved and you don't want to be doing on the rear tire of the spyder if avoidable.
I’ve learned over the last week that it has distance limitations, as well as as “wall blockage” limitations. But if I were parked near by room, it would work.
I think I mention these too u early in a mgs since u like mods and these will help you out and less item u have to carry around with you to check ur tire pressure....you have the app on the cam am spyder itself if u connect your phone to BRP GO you can check ur pressure there as well on ur spyder as u ride instead of pulling out ur phone
Totally new at this, bought my 2024 Spyder RTL at the beginning of October and your videos have really helped me. Regarding the FOBO 2 For Trike: I bought and installed a set but due to other concerns left the Trike in the garage for a few days. Every day, ALL THREE tires lost one PSI. If only one lost pressure I would deem it defective. With all three loosing pressure inside an enclosed garage made me suspicious. Returned the set before the return period expired. Anyone else have a similar experience?
Congrats on the new RTL, and sorry to hear about your loss of tire pressure. I’ve been using FOBO for a couple of weeks now and haven’t had an issue. You might want to go to the Spyder forums (Google “Spyder Forums”) and post a question there. You’ll see other posts about FOBO that may be helpful. I hope you get this resolved soon.
I would think the locks are not just for theft but also to keep the caps from coming loose and losing air since that is all that holds it in when they are installed. They have to push the scrader valve down so air can get to the cap to be able to test the pressure. I would install them for sure.
The Fobo2 packages used to come with spare batteries, but they stopped supplying spare batteries a couple years ago, which might explain how they've been able to avoid price increases for at least the last 5 years. Yeah, the legal warning might seem ridiculous, but if a child gets a hold of a battery, and there was no warning... that helps injury attorneys to buy their expensive toys 😅.
@SpyderChrisYT Have you learned how to go into the graphs? It's really slick, and each sensor maintains a graph of the temps (red) and pressures (blue) for the last 7 rolling days. And on the graphs, you can zero in to see detail better, by using the thumb & pointee finger pinch in and out to zoon in and out on the detail. When I first learned how to view the graphs, I was amazed at how much the temps and pressures fluctuate up and down as you ride and stop, and yes, there's a big temp diff when one sensor is in the sun, and others are not, also, the rear sensor temp can zoom up when stuck in traffic, from the heat off the muffler.
@SpyderChrisYT One other info tip, the voltage in batteries drops a little when they get cold. Don't be surprised to see the green icon battery symbols turn ftom green to orange over the winter, and if it's bitterly cold, the battery symbols just might turn red and red means very low voltage. You don't need to worry about it when they're orange. If the batteries are still good, the symbol will turn back to green when the batteries warm up.
@SpyderChrisYT One more tip, you can get a 4 pack of Duracell CR1632 batteries on Anazon for under $10. I usually get 10 packs of Amazon Basic brand (that show Shipped & Sold by Amazon) because I have 9 sensors on my 3 bikes and my camper. Stay away from the cheap ones on Amazon that are Sold by some vendor that's not Amazon. For the last 3 years, my Amazon Basics brand have lasted about 1 yr, so I'm happy with them, but I know some people prefer brand names like EverReady or Duracell.
Those lock nuts are to keep the stem head unit from vibrating off the valve stems. USE THEM Those metal valve stems are a must, they take the stress of the units being spun at rpm without breaking, your rubber valve stems will do in time. USE THEM Products are made to a standard of though and care by people who actually care about riders. If you really just wanted easy install and all, you could have saved a little money and bought a much simpler unit. Like your videos, but you have missed the mark of quality information on this one. IMHO.

One of my first purchases for the Spyder! Good to see you've got it!
I just wish I got it sooner.
@SpyderChrisYT That rear wheel is a pain to get to, but those sensors make it easy to gauge where your pressure is.
Have this exact product on our Sea 2 Sky. Works as they say. Good product.
I’m loving it so far.
Great video, have them on my spider now about 11/2 years have not had any problems.
I’m loving them so far. Glad to hear they’ve been good to you for that long.

Thanks for this great video Chris. I'm ready to order! As far as no compensation, YOU SHOULD BE!
I’m sure you’ll love this product.

Good advice, thanks!
I’m not sure it has hotel room to parking lot distance but I’m finding it very reassuring to have this little luxury.

You may be right on that. I need to reconsider.
Very interested in the moto vlog
I shot a motovlog video and it is scheduled on TH-cam for Sunday.

Thanks, Wayne. It’s been about a week now and I just love this FOBO system.
