Liking the new digs. Your new set up is a vast improvement over your old one. The display and lighting works so well together to give it that real studio atmosphere, which the old one lacked. It (old studio) was too spartan. And you guys facing the camera looks more natural. I'm just waiting to hear latest news and weather forecast. 😁 But seriously, I like your new studio. 👍
Good episode, I like the new studio! We have a couple of Coleman Mudgee C-3s (bought from Snowys iirc) which we are very happy with, plus a couple of much older bags that we make the kids sleep in :)
cotton duck is supposed to be more durable than denim, they used to make a lot of workwear out of it, some heritage companies still do, but it's more expensive than modern synthetic blends and hard to find
i have a bit of a predicament, i am a hot sleeper, i do not sleep still and often wake up very hot / coated in sweat, even in cold conditions ( around 0 degrees ) but i also cannot sleep without something heavy covering me, something like the coleman big game / pilbara bags, but i see those are quite warm, and i'm not sure that they would be suitable for me, are there any bags you can recommend for me?
Sounds like you need to use the sleeping bag opened out like a blanket as opposed to an actual sleeping bag @Murtagh653...in that case the comfort temp isn't as relevant because you have a lot of control over regulating that for yourself. Alternative something like the 23Zero Canvas Trail Blanket might be worth a look. ~ Lauren

Alot of people have preferred the original format where we were facing the camera, so we thought we'd give it another whirl. I'm also sitting on a stool, and my giant butt is more used to a comfy chair haha ~ Lauren

I think air mattresses need more love here. They are incredibly comfortable and take up next to no room. I put my old summer bag down as a layer of protection which seems to work fine. I have for powered sites also brought an electric blanket which works a treat as well. Yes, air mattresses are underappreciated and it is easy enough to put a sheep skin or just an old sleeping bag on top in cold weather. I do like your video though and I appreciate that you are not on too much about down sleeping bags. Down sleeping bags have a place but probably not with the average car camper. The main reason is that they are just too restrictive and lacking in room...and expensive. I do love my down jacket though and my Coleman C-12 Bag. Good video by the way and I appreciate the effort and expensive that goes into producing these videos. Thank you very much.
Thanks for your feedback, Grant. I agree with you regarding air mattresses, they are comfortable, particularly during warmer months when insulation from underneath isn't as much of an issue. We probably over emphasise this point as most of our enquiries about sleeping cold can be traced back to the user sleeping directly on top of an air mattress. I'm glad you enjoy our show. ~ Ben
Like the new set-up. No old cinder block wall on this one. Missing the prop on the table. Maybe have a single different prop at the back and see who spots it. I have the 23Zero Alaska Black 1400. I like the heavy cotton canvas feel as Lauren mentions. The flannelette lining is great. I use it with a Sea to Summit inner though. Heavy zips all sides and can completely unzip in 1/2. The hood is a bit useless and will never close tightly around you being 1400 wide. Zippers are a bit hard to work but slowly getting better with use. If you get to warm you can unzip both sides and fold the top back and sleep in the liner. I think if you wanted to you could join 2 together and have a 2800 wide bag if you had a Brady Bunch sized family. Mine had a fault with the draw string stopper thing, 23Zero express posted me a new one no questions.
We use to take our bedding from home but we bought a couple of Coleman Pilbara C-5 for my 10 year old son and my wife to try during one trip and was so impresses we bought 2 more on the way home. Had the best night's sleep during any camping trips. We have a Zempire Pronto 10 Tent and we sleep on Blackwolf Hexatherm 3D 10cm thick Single Mats directly on the tent floor with no extra insulation or blankets. I am a warm sleeper, sleeping with just shorts and no top, the first night was around 10 degrees outside and I use it without the fleece liner and the next night with the fleece liner I was comfortable to around 5 degrees. The whole family was comfortable with those bags. With 4 of them they do take up a lot of space. I ended up getting a rooftop bag and they all fitted in perfectly folded in half and it's a lot quick to pack away not having to stuff them back in the bags they came with.
I use a wool blanket over the top of my sleeping bag, it also keeps the dew away (holds it on top of the fibres). Hot water bottles are brilliant, I always have one for my little dog and now use one for myself. I just recycle the water in the hot water bottles by reheating it so there is no extra water needed.
Wool is awesome, only downside is that it is a little heavier than synthetic equivalents, but it will last longer and is useful in a wider range of climates. ~ Ben

Those silver folding sun shields you use on the font windscreen of your car in summer,would they make a good insulator under your sleeping bag?
They would make a difference, they are essentially a space/emergency blanket with some extra insulation. ~ Ben
