Here's a good movie, Sonic The Hedgehog(1996) aka Sonic OVA, which was released in the US in 1999 or so. It has the most iconic line "You may know everything I'm going to do, but that's not going to help you since I know everything you're going to do. Strange, isn't it?"
At present I think the best one is the 2023 Mario movie. It captured the franchise’s style very well (especially when compared to the 1993 one), and it really helped solidify the idea that video game films could be good. The first two Sonic films were ok, and I’ve been told Sonic 3 is amazing.

It’s more fun to watch than the new one. The old Mario movie just has so much absolute insanity going on with it, I never get tired of it. The new one you watch like.. twice, and you get everything out of it. The fan service is just there, and the plot is bare bones as ever. Yea it’s a Mario movie, but it’s a MOVIE, and a movie should tell a story.
