A fellow man of culture I see... Yes Magic Mouth is the best (and most broken) spell in the game. Thank you for comming up with new ideas to advance it! I love it. A few observations, interesting interactions, and also something to run past your DMs. 1. Magic Mouth can also be cast as a Ritual, so spell slots only speed up the process of casting it but are not absolutely required. 2 The Alchemical Compendium spellbook from Tasha`s Cauldron of Everything, combined with the 4th level Fabricate spell lets you start off with a single coin, fabricate it into a piece of jewelry to increase the value, trade the jewelry for a pound of silver, repeat ad nauseam, using the compendium either to increase it`s size or to transmute it into a different material, such as gold or Jade for example, etc... Effectively eliminating the cost for the Jade or other spell components like ruby dust if you go about it right. 3. Magic Mouth does NOT put any limits on how many mouths can be placed on a single object, nor the size or shape of those objects. You could place ten thousand of them on a tiny grain of sand, a string, or a single domino sized piece of wood, effectively creating microchips and transmission wires. Magic Mouth uses natural language, but a series of mouths can be arranged into logic gates, or arranged into neural networks of sorts. For a complicated Magic Mouth computer, I think Chat GPT is a fair level of intelligence. It`s not truly sentient, but can sure do a lot of interesting things... 4. Any (large) device you make with Magic Mouth can be made fully sentient by creating a Wizard Homunculus and using it to act as a sort of CPU or system Operator. Now you have the internet in your head, and can control your device from anywhere on the same plane of existence, all while your large and very expensive computer is safe back in your base... Just don't forget to make a keyboard for it by painting letters onto small pebbles glued to a board, and using Magic Mouth on each key. Gotta give the little guy a way to control it. 5. (DM dependent) Memory storage, as well as any other unique and unusual additions you can think up for the Magic Mouth computer can be created by using the tinker’s tools proficiency and the Fabricate spell to construct a "clockwork device" similar to the Babbage Engine only just for the printing or storage of information, Mechanical calculators and things like the Antikythera mechanism for astronomical observations, stuff like that. As long as your DM has Xanathar`s then the tinker`s tools proficiency lets you craft clockwork items... Magic Mouth can control and interact with these clockwork devices via the Arcane Lock spell, fully automating them. 6.(DM dependent) I talked my DM into letting me "invent" or create any technology that existed back in medieval times, things like waterwheel powered drop hammers, stuff like that. One of those interesting things is called a Camera Obscura. Basically a dark room or a box with a single hole in the side of it. It basically acts as a pinhole lens and projects the image onto the wall of the room or box. As long as the box itself is within 30 feet of the Magic Mouth, you have extended its vision out to the horizon as long as you make sure to change the wording of the triggers to account for the fact your Magic Mouth computer is basically watch TV. "When an image of an Orc appears..." This can also be used to create a sort of wireless long distance communication network when combined with clockwork shutters and the Continual Flame spell. Now we have cell towers, the internet and smart phones...
Wow, thank you for such a deep comment. I had no idea about the history of the babbage machine or the Antikythera mechanism. That does add a ton of complexity to magic mouth in ways i hadn't even thought about before

Program the AI to craft things for you while in the background but craft it inside a Genie Warlock's lamp so you always have access to it and what it crafts. It can't leave the lamp either so you have a fail safe if it tries to kill you because it turns evil.
If I could find a way to create automations of things in dnd, that would be one of the most game breaking things i ever make. At the moment though, I can't find any mechanics that you can line magic mouth with to continuously automate certain actions

It's code is simple enough that people have made a joke of emulating DOOM on various hardware, such as on calculators and treadmills. I've seen versions of DOOM run on redstone circuitry in Minecraft. There's even a subreddit that's dedicated to this one niche challenge. (r/itrunsdoom)

i read illsory reality. it says 1st level spell slot which i don't thin minior illusion is. however you could use eldritch adept feat, and take misty vision so you can cast silent image at will
You right. I forgot that part about illusory reality. Thanks to Spell Mastery you can actually take Magic Mouth AND Silent Image, since it's one first level spell and one second level spell. And then you can do it that way. But yeah, Misty Visions is a great option too and you can even combo it with Illusory Reality to get spammable 5ft illusions made real much earlier than 18th level
Big fan of this idea! I would love a quest where its a wizard and an artificer coming together to make the first Warforge, I think that'd be cool

@@smilesschemes It just occurred to me that you can also use an Awakened Shrub as a Sapient CPU/System Operator in a Magic Mouth setup...

A 2nd level feature you may of overlooked for creating the material component is Minor Conjuration.
