It looks really cool! I can see one small thing that's a bit distracting, which is that one of the horizontal railings seems to be in the way of the digital displays making them quite hard to see, and I think that part needs to be redesigned such that the displays are more directly visible. Also I think there needs to be hanging straps such that people standing up can have something that can hold on to. But overall, a far superior product compared to the Bombardier Flexity!
That's only from a standing position at a certain height. Seated passengers and those standing ahead of that horizontal yellow tube should be able to see the display.
Looks amazing, Ottawa! Congrats on joining the Light Rail Club. :) And I am super impressed by the look of the Citadis trains - I am hoping when Calgary gets its damn act together and bloody build the Green Line, we leave Siemens behind and go for Alstom.
Ottawa has had light rail since 2001, but only one line, and it only has five stops. It was a pilot project that used an existing rail line. The new line has thirteen stops and goes right through the downtown.
@Errin if I were you I’d be sad that Valley Metro is choosing boring S70s instead of buying more Kinkisharyos. I love Kinkisharyo and I wish that Valley Metro would have bought more LRVs from them rather than go with generic S70s. I think these Alstoms are quite nice, have a much cooler VF drive sound, and are less boring than S70s.
The trains look like they go a lot faster than I expected. And it's fully grade separated! Ottawa finally has a real metro system that can be compared to Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal! Congrats!
The Line 2 Trillium Line is being extended to the airport in 2022. It’s going south to Limebank in reality but a break off spur line will run between south keys and the airport.

I can't wait to get drunk in the market and ride this baby home!
@rigel star I don't puke. If I did I'd do it on the tracks.
It's finally happening!!! Me and the kids will definitely be test riding it during opening weekend!
Excellent system! Wish I could be there on opening day! True test starts when the snow falls 😖 🚋🚋🚋🚋
Wow that's fast!! That ATO system works very well! Great video!
Looks better than I expected.

Yep and our Finch West LRT will have the same vehicles

Looking forward to being there on September 14!
I love the donut logo and the fact there are multiple elevators so that disabled people are not screwed if one goes out of service.
Doughnut? More like a Life Saver.
Cough TTC Subway should consider
The train seats are interesting, the pattern is much more clear unlike the buses.
Looks great! I’m loving the artwork at Lyon. Good job shooting this as well.

Eerrp Here in Phoenix, AZ we are buying new Siemens trains to replace the older fleet. Should we be scared?
RedLight GreenArrow The Siemens trains aren’t bad, it’s just that Alston is even better.

That guy at 22:48 holding his feet up on the seat in front. Incredible rudeness! Other than that, the O-train looks awesome, can't wait to ride it!

YAY !!!!!!
Amazing
gorgeous system
😍😍
Does the LRT not report station names?
Yes it does but this was a pre-launch ride and the announcements were not running.
They actually announce a lot of things, maybe too many. Yes, next station announcements and arrival announcements are made for every station.
Will the line ever be extended to the airport

@@RailFansCanada I CANNOT WAIT!
This is great news. Did you notice part of lettering is missing at 0:38 upper left, train number 1129!!!
Also I’ve heard that this line is going to be extended in few years
Yes it will. Easy to Trim road by 2024 and west to moodie and baseline by 2025
Very modern, but where is the automated announcements on the train?
It was a modified trip for media and city council so it wasn’t doing proper stops at the stations.
O-Train Fans ok, so therefore the real opening will have automated announcements right?
Yes that’s correct.
Looks nice and all but why are the stations in the middle of no where?
Nowhere, like downtown and major shopping centers, and transfer points.
thank god Ottawa bought from alstom not bombardier
Oscar W. Sad isn't it
By the way these Alstom citadis trains are made in New York state Southern Tier www.otrainfans.ca/confederation-trains/alstom-citadis-spirit .
Do you have a source or link online I can check before making the correction? Thanks

Oh sorry I thought you were saying what we had on our site was in error. :)
Now I need to transfer twice from barrhaven to Orleans instead of just taking the 95. Thank you for delaying my trip.
Your right i am not happy with LRT i live in the West end i have to take three buses and a train so many people are not happy with LRT .
this is gonna be both french/english announcement?
Yes it will be bilingual
Oh boy they installed the same crappy fare gates as the one in Toronto... Yay to fare evasion and all of the gates failing!
See San Francisco fare gates. They make ours look like a beauty.
