If you are driving on rough B-roads everyday, why on earth would you lower it?? The MOST sorted thing about the GR is the ride and handling on shit british roads. Seems like mods for the sake of mods.
People are doing the same with the GR Corolla. There's a TH-camr who posted a video explaining that he lowered his car, proceeds to put a "WRC" sticker on it, and then mistakenly says WRC stands for "World rally circuit" LOL.
Nice to see a fresh review. I too came from an I30N to a GR Yaris but mine was a 70 plate pre facelift manual. I tracked it and got spanked by a GR at Anglesey. (He did have a tuning box) So after all the hype and that Chris Harris review I got one. I bought a late 71 plate Circuit in solid white with 2700 miles. Didn’t fancy the pearl as it’s a very hard colour to match if you ever need to paint it. Mines stock except for braided lines and 660 fluid. Tracked it at Cadwell and it was immense, I absolutely love the GR. Such a great drivers car that is a hoot to drive. I love how you can use all the power all the time regardless of the weather.
I've decided to get one some time in 2024 money permitting. Still deciding whether to get the povo pack or the rallye (Aus) for an extra $12-15 grand. Just not sure I'll be able to get the most out of the LSD's for normal road driving.
I still don’t think it should be classed with hot hatches , it’s not practical enough to start and it doesn’t drive like one. Not sure what it’s peers are tbh.
Hey, how does it handle corners / tight bendy roads? I have a choice of the i30n or Yaris GR. No idea which to choose, I only really drive tight, windy roads like Welsh roads etc with tight bends.
I went from an i30N to a GR Yaris lately. The i30N is a more practical car. More space, usable back seats. Great fun. Really good sounding exhaust from stock! It's a fantastic all-rounder which can both carry a whole family on longer journeys, and also lap the Nurburgring with ease. The GR Yaris is more of a toy. Lighter, faster from low speeds, rally DNA. On tight windy roads the GR will be more nimble. Needs an aftermarket exhaust. i30N being FWD is only really good in the dry. The GRY Is fantastic in all kinds of weather due to the 4wd system.
You should buy one but also a set of ear defenders as the wind noise from the drivers door is HORRENDOUS,, nO FIX YET FROM tOYOTA gb SO GET THEM IPODS IN.....

No comparison the GR is a FAR better drivers car, far more fun, far better handling. If you want a practical fast car go buy a C class / 3 series
id definitely recommend cutting out the 'uh's every other word mate
Do the mods affect the warranty at all?
Only if Toyota can prove that the mods are a direct cause of any sort of issue.
