This has been my first year being into smash and its been such a great time as a newcomer! Absolutely love seeing Zain Cody and Amsa, I was in the crowd of smashcon !!

I'm kinda jelly. There's a lot of hype moments throught melee history. Sometimes I forget about them and watch a compilation and reminded of the hype. Have fun

It's funny, I see such a pessimistic mantra about how Melee is reaching the end of its life and the game will die soon- but frankly I don't see it. We had a Sheik and a Yoshi win a super major, and for the first time we had 2 players neck in neck for best, and in the exact same breath, the deciding factor had a solo fox as number 1 best player and dethroned Zain who has been relatively strong for the last few years. This game will live another 50 years and another 50 years more
I’m with ya!!people are more die hard for melee than ever. With the Nintendo stuff a lot of people got nervous about the future looks like etc. I was in that boat a bit. But knowing that we have continued with nothing happening we will be fine. Idk if we will be a top tier esport like everyone was hoping, but we will still live 😄
@@JeramiJoseph honestly the Nintendo restrictions likely weren't even that much of a "thunderbolt from Zeus"
Nintendo was probably just protecting their IP which they have an absolute right to do. Smash Bros is kind of infamous for having a rather toxic community. With the treatment of top players, and the general toxicity about some of the games characters, mechanics, etc. Nintendo was more than anything, attempting to disassociate the smash bros community with itself by banning the use of logos, and setting up tournament rules that would fit Nintendo's ideals. It's unlikely that Nintendo will strike down a tournament. They are aware of the backlash from 2012(?) And it's unlikely they are willing to take it again since the community has grown exponentially since then. I really don't see the scene dying for some time-

Ahh that’s my b. I guess it may have been better to explain it as within their professional career. Is that a better way to phrase it? I checked with a few people and we came to the conclusion we couldn’t find other times they went anyone but their main
@@JeramiJoseph I think it is true if you add the "at a major" qualifier. aMSa had played Falco in Japanese events before this year and Zain had played both Fox and ICs before, not to mention Roy (and yes he has played Roy while being entered in bracket as Zain, not only as Don'tTestMe). Ultimately, these instances are less important but yeah

@@JeramiJoseph Hell yeah. Bonus funny fact, aMSa's SSBMRank 2015 player card actually has Falco listed on it in addition to Yoshi haha, they were very liberal with adding secondaries that year

It really was! Solo sheik first major win! Solo fox main #1 in the world, huge fight for number 1. Had some bangers that’s for sure. Cheers to 2024 😄

Most TOs have had vaccine mandates which proved to not block transmission in May of 2021. All the nonsense bled into your beloved hobby after destroying your job and set your financial goals on hold.
I see why people hate it.

Anyways I can't wait to see the first to 10 Zain vs Cody set this weekend. I truly dont know who wins this. I want it to be zain but I think its going to be cody and cody has worked his ass off to get where he is so its gonna be dope either way.

@@JeramiJoseph Cody 100% but I'm also very biased LOL. I think Cody is better at adapting to his opponent than Zain so giving him up to 19 games to adapt gives him a big advantage

To be fair, Don’t Test Us worked for 1 game, but failed to close out. There’s clear potential if the best player in the world chooses either FD only for em or puts a lil more time into it
