    Wow this is really a super high quality video! So well done! I've ridden several of those trails on my Salsa Beargrease. Fat bikes work well on many of the Tucson mtn bike trails but you don't see too many.

    Great capture... where's that "5th Ave" trail ? I wonder if that is the real name that locals know it by. I live in NW Tucson - and have been mountain biking at most of the major trails, however most of my riding was 2003-2007 ... I'm getting back into it now in Jan of 2020.

    • @NewMexicoOutside

      Eric Langlois It happens. We would capture it on camera of course just like in some of our other videos. 🌵🐍

      New Mexico Outside No danger from being bitten by one if you come close to one while biking?

    • @NewMexicoOutside
      @NewMexicoOutside  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Langlois There are always dangers while riding bikes but rattlesnakes are rarely seen. Crashing and having a yard sale on the rocks is more of a concern. Snakes and desert life usually try and hide and stay out of sight when we do see them. It’s best to give them their space, after all it is their home we are visiting. With that said, it is good to know how to bunny-hop just in case. 🙂

    So cool, NM has better deserts than SoCal. Where did you get that cool jersey with the pockets that she is wearing. Perfect for what your doing.

    • @NewMexicoOutside
      @NewMexicoOutside  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tracy Howell She ordered it online but any standard road bike jersey should have those pockets in the back.

    Saw your pics on MTB Project and decided to check out your video. Just rode Sweetwater for the first time today thanks to seeing both of your fat bikes! Don't see many of those around down here...not enough anyway. I really need to get mine built. How does your wife like the Kenda Juggernaut Pros? Is your bike a Bullet TI? Looked at those before buying my Shaman frame.

    I live in Tucson, how do you get to that Bowen Rock house? where do you park and start out from?

    • @NewMexicoOutside
      @NewMexicoOutside  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We parked at the Richard Genser lot and headed out Rock Wren, Starr Pass and eventually looped around to Yetman. It’s north on Yetman from the intersection with Rock Wren. Looks like you could also access it if you parked at a place called Camino de Oeste and headed south on Yetman.

    Is it true that fat bikes are slower (than city/cruiser bicycles) on a paved road? How about acceleration? Does full suspension on a fat bike makes sense? What about hub/bottom bracket gearboxes (Rohloff/Pinion) on fat bikes? I want to purchase a fat bike for a year-round city/trail commuting. The place where I live also has snowy winters, so my choice is inclined towards fat bike instead of mtb/plus bike.

    • @NewMexicoOutside
      @NewMexicoOutside  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      H K if you buy a decent fat bike you won't be disappointed. You can always put slicks on if you are doing a lot of commuting. Some of us have two sets of wheels: 27.5 X 3.0. Fat bikes are very diverse. You can fit a skinny wheel up to a 5.0 wide wheel within the frame. Full suspension is very nice but you really don't need it on a fat bike unless you are doing alot of big drops and stuff. The fat tires dampen most of the bumps. As with all bikes usually the more it cost the lighter it is. There are many good carbon fat bikes out there that weigh around 24 pounds

    I live in Tucson I would be scared shit of having a rattlesnake just jump out at you there's so many of them out here.. also there's so many thorns everywhere that has to be hell on your tires.

    • @MultiBallchinian
      @MultiBallchinian 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also live in Tucson. I get rattled at on the regular. Luckily haven't been bit yet though! As for the cactus/thorns, going tubeless is pretty much the only option if you are gonna ride around in this desert.
