  • Vocals & music by Farya Faraji, including aulos melodies by specialists of Ancient Greco-Roman music. Please note that this isn't reconstructed historical music, but modern music which uses Ancient Roman instruments and aspects of their music theory.
The VI Ferrata (ironclad) was a legion raised by Caesar in Cisalpine Gaul, and then became a mainstay in the later Imperial armies of Rome. It fought in many important battles such as Alesia and Actium, and was attested as far as the era of Diocletian.
The instruments used are different aulos models, the pan flute, as well as drums and cymbals. The melody is based on the modal principles of Roman music, switching between the Diatonic Phrygian and Dorian modes, as well as using the Chromatic genus of their music.
The Latin is pronounced using Classical pronunciation.
    Latin lyrics:
Mors et Mars et mūrī sumus,
    Audīte inimīcī!
    Sanguīs mel et vīnum'st
    Audīte inimīcī!
    Canimus et canimus,
    Carmen ferrī canimus,
    Carō nostra ferrum est,
    Audīte inimīcī!
    Fātum nostrum glōria'st
    Audīte inimīcī!
    Sumus sextus ferrāta,
    Audīte inimīcī!
    Superbia Rōmae sumus,
    Audīte inimīcī!
    English translation:
Death and Mars and walls we are,
    Listen, enemy!
    Blood is honey and wine,
    Listen, enemy!
    We sing and sing,
We sing the song of iron,
    Our flesh is iron,
    Listen enemy!
    Our fate is glory,
    Listen, enemy!
    We sing and sing,
We sing the song of iron,
    We are the Sixth Ironclad,

    We are Rome's pride,

ERRATUM: As always your boy messed up some of the Latin, the line should be "sumus sexta ferrāta" instead of "sextus ferrāta," in order to work in accordance with grammatical rules of Latin. Thanks to one of my viewers below for pointing it out.

The roman army had quite a number to select from
Lorica Hamata = chain mail, this was most certainly carried forward after the western empire fell
Lorica Squamata = scale armour, likely evolution into lamellar armour
Lorica Plumata = a hybrid between Hamata and Squamata
Lorica Segmentata = fabricated of several fitted plates of metal, when combined with arm and leg guards forms the most likely the ancestor to full plate armour seen in medieval Europe
These are the metal base armours of the true roman army, but in actuality there was way more present coming from the tribes that formed the Auxilia

First was the song of the twin legion, the XIV Gemina
Then, the releasing of the Legio XV "Apollinaris" song
Six months ago, the twelve legion: "Fulminata"
And now this ARTWORK: Ferrata, the Ironclad
*(Honorable mention: Belisarius, Song of the Praetorians, SPQR, Hymn of the Legion and Sons of Mars)
This "Roman Saga" is absolutely stunning. As a Latino myself (with both, Italian and Spanish ancestry) it's wonderful to see this dedication to our ancestor's culture and in our forefathers language. The work Farya does to provide us with these (and others) masterpieces is something that we should especially appreciate. This connection to the past is something truly special to me, and it’s wonderful to have such high-quality art that honors that legacy. I am simply overwhelmed and extremely taken by the Latin text of the song. I come from Germany, from what was known as behind the Limes. I have a Scottish first name, but my roots are German. In Germany we are not allowed to identify with our country. Everyone in the world has noticed what is going on here, but apparently the Germans have not. This music awakens in me a history that goes back much further than World War II. Unfortunately I cannot say it in German or try to explain to the Germans what is currently happening to our country, because otherwise I would be putting myself in danger, but I think Americans and even many other nations understand exactly what I am talking about. Thank you for your music, please more of it, it gives me and many others strength. I very much hope that everything turns out for the good or in favor of the nation. I very much hope that the cultures unite and do not destroy themselves in an inevitable fiasco. Your music reflects the heritage of our civilisations, it would not be acceptable if this were to be destroyed forever by anyone. It is a very turbulent time, which makes it all the more important to fill yourself with knowledge. In Germany, it is difficult for a German to maintain your identity because you are immediately labelled as right-wing radical, the EU is apparently blinded, or other reasons that are inaccessible to me are pulling the strings. I hope and pray to God that reason will ultimately win. Thank you for your music! With my modest knowledge, I must admit, very well implemented, you immediately feel transported back to those times, very appealing. I hope you create more of this kind of music! See you soon
