Hadji 'Dayang Dayang' Piandao was a first lady of Sulu. The title 'Dayang Dayang' means “princess of the first degree”, a title given only to the daughters of the Sultan. The song 'Dayang Dayang' is believed to be referring to this lady. In 1921 Dayang Dayang Hadji Piandao was appointed agent of the government to encourage FilipinoMuslims to send their children to school. "Dayang Dayang (Pakiring)" is a popular traditional Filipino folk song originally from the southern region of the Philippines, particularly the province of Sulu. The song reflects the culture and heritage of the Tausug people. The song gained widespread popularity in the 1990s when it was covered by a Filipino singer named Babyline Nepomuceno. Nepomuceno's version of "Dayang Dayang (Pakiring)" became a huge hit and was well-received across the country, earning her the title "Queen of Mindanaoan Songs." -Chat gpt The lyrics of the song tell a story about a princess named Dayang Dayang, who is described as a beautiful and graceful lady. The song celebrates her charm and captures the essence of Tausug courtship and culture. The distinctive melody and rhythmic beats of "Dayang Dayang (Pakiring)" make it a favorite choice for cultural performances and festivities in the Philippines. It is often accompanied by traditional Tausug dance movements, giving it a vibrant and lively appeal. Di naman ito lyrics ih. Sinama ako, at naiintindihan ko yung kanta.
@@vaingloriousgaming7391 pahingi po ng lyrics
@@vaingloriousgaming7391 talaga po kuya you know what does it means?
i am very interested to know its full story about dayang dayang and the singer behind and to whom they dedicated this song hoping for answers ASAP its part of our history
i think your question already answerd if you watch the video there is a caption at the video dayang meaning the first princess from the sultanate of sulo and also the lyrics of the song is to encourage the kids to go to school
yes this is the original dayang dayang, or kiring kiring the tausog and sama called it. year 1994 by hainun.
now it answers all of my questions about that song.
I used to laugh at this song but learning about it made me appreciate the song itself ❤
The language/dialect is called sama or sinama.....
Sarap balikan ang mga kahapon.😊
So where was this song recorded? The audio track seems modern, done in 16 track maybe early or middle 70s.
recording yan dito sa sabah malaysia early 90s
@@julizahabdullah671, did you say it's recorded in Sabah, Malaysia in the early '90's? If so, it must not have originated in Malaysia. Because I first heard this same song while I was in Zamboanga, Philippines in the mid-70's.
Quarantine - searching for trivia and knowledge 💕💕💕
Thank you for this.
Kining tug tuga ba mga year 1996 sikat ni sa amoa sa davao oriental tug tug sa kasal sayawan p gani..enjoy lagi
"Daa kaa ag loman loman" which means don't be shy. (Just dance)
Naintindihan mo ba lahat ng lyrics? Sabi ng iba may halong gibberish daw.
@@jm7859 some of it. walang gibberish jan.
@@vaingloriousgaming7391 pwede paki-translate lahat ng lyrics niyan?
So I did a research, it's very clear that it's not from Indonesia nor Malaysia ,nor any other Asian country. It's a muslim song from the Philippines.
Does anyone have the English/Tagalog translation for this?
Same question. This song was featured in KMJS but they were not able to translate the song.
@Marcöön Jás Uf Hindi ko na mahanap sa TH-cam, pero mahahanap mo siya sa Google. Search mo "Hainun Dayang dayang KMJS episode". May mahahanap kang Twitter thread. Si Hainun yung original singer (yang mismong video na yan).
Now I know. Thanks to this. 💙
Soooo, this is a Filipino song? That's all I want to know, since this song's origin is like vanished into oblivion
Ralph R. This song came from 'the Philippine Islands' that's for sure
Yes, from Philippines, specifically from the Samal Bajao tribe of Tawi-Tawi, Philippines.
John But not entirely a Filipino song. Consider the fact that Bajau people are distributed in 3 countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines
@@justinnamuco9096, recent studies indicate that the Sama-Bajau are the first inhabitants of Zamboanga Peninsula and Sulu archipelago, where 80-90% of them are living. From there they dispersed to East Malaysia (Sabah), Brunei and Indonesia. Today, the Sama-Bajaus are the predominant tribe in Tawi-Tawi. Most of the Bajaus now living in Sabah, Malaysia are illegal migrants from Tawi-Tawi.
John when did they disperse?
It’s sounds like lullaby for a little girl ,who asked to dance by the parents or the carer .. Sangbay in tausug but the song is in badjao.
Dance little princess lean side to side 🎼🎶🎵
Ito pala ung original bakit mas sumikat pa ung cover Pilipino pala ang kanta kala ko ibang bansa
About bad comment the voice is great but it seem have plenty technical sound problems sweet and strong voice.
Dany V For an old recording, it is really supposed to sound like this
I think the instrument that used in this song is used by a musicians group called mang gagabbang here in sulu
