    Wow love it when things are approached this way: methodical, decomposed and coherent. YOU'RE AMAZING SOPHIE

    The middle connection is key. Didn't understand or hear of it in all my workshops. I will also pay more attention to that part of my body. Great tips! Thank you

    This was gold for me. I just started UrbanKiz few weeks ago and already got told wrong stuff about how to move as a follow. Especially the part with the center of the body very helpful! 😊

    Sophie, you are real talanted teacher and dancer, who can explain hard things in a lihgt way! Light explain - lihgt dance!

    Idea for next video: How to be a light (urban) kizomba Leader :)

    • @MR-nl8xr
      @MR-nl8xr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leaders are not suppose to be light, we're suppose to be firm & confident; no follow wants to dance with a light leader.
      Edit: strong removed.

    • @PhillypChanlatte
      @PhillypChanlatte 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@MR-nl8xr false leaders can and should be light as well. Being a strong lead is not needed in Urban or kizomba/semba nor does it make you a better lead. Im sure Sophie can attest to the fact she enjoys dancing with a light lead.

    • @katjasell7615
      @katjasell7615 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I prefer light and exact leaders. But this exact does not come from strong and dominant. It comes from self-confidence in own steps :)

    • @MR-nl8xr
      @MR-nl8xr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PhillypChanlatteMy statement is true.
      You took one word out of my sentence and blew it up, you won't admit it because it speaks of what you lack; no matter, follows will go more for the leaders I mentioned before; in the end, truth always wins.
      Edit: always removed

    • @MR-nl8xr
      @MR-nl8xr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@katjasell7615 that's nice what you prefer, but you're not a majority.
      You purposely avoided using the right words to describe an ideal leader because you know I'm right, you just too scared to admit it.
      No difference to me;
      You do you, I'll do me.

    Awesome video, thank you for creating & sharing. Love your work.
    I have a small thing to add. I experience much more that ladies make TOO big steps. that creates extra distance and they bring themselves out of balance and feels like they running away from the leader.

    In the name of all leaders: thank you! This is very good advice for followers, I would even says whatever the (social) danse! It's good for Kizomba, Semba, Argentine Tango and all dances where there's a leader and a follower, in close embrace. And other dances as well :)

    Great video. I am trying to learn this while we are on stay at home orders. My question is as you are remaining "light", how are you getting directional signals like turning? Also in older videos, it was said that you have to bring your feet back together on three? I did not notice you doing that. Thank you in advance.

    'A common mistake in Kizomba is to say you have to folow your partner by the chest' Is it the same or different for traditional Kizomba? It feels clumsy to me, but teachers always say lead follow by chest.
