I heard the baker Petak say it was a sponge cake and Swiss meringue buttercream icing. Both of those should have beaten egg whites to fold in right? I bought a slice of lemon cake and a bottle of elderflower cordial. Poured some over the slice. My goodness it was amazing!! And that was on a grocery store slice of cake lol. They had Devonshire cream mixed with lemon curd in between. I also noticed elderflower sodas. Yumm. I can see why she chose elderflower.
Elderflower is amazing isn’t it!! Smbc is made from egg whites, sponge cake isn’t. You can switch the buttercream from this cake to smbc to make it closer to the actual royal wedding cake ☺️ I made this video before the royal wedding cake was shown so just use a standard buttercream 💕
Thank you so much, we are having a Royal Party and I can't wait to make this. Quick question, am I able to make it the day before and should I store it in the fridge or a container?
Oh Emily, I am SO sorry! For future reference, you can make cakes the cakes the day before but I just keep them at room temp so they stay nice and soft ☺️xx
I'd love to make this for my wedding but I need a two tier cake for 60 ppl. Could you please let me know what quantities I would need & would this be suitable for a 2 tier. (I'd pay you to make it but I live in Australia 😊😊)
Thank you darling girlie, but I'm now trying to convert all of these measurements into US for my coworkers B'day cake! 🤔 OK, cancel that... I'll convert whatever for x2 6" cakes, got it 👊🏻😁
I've being watching many people doing this cake, by my experience they are doing the procedure for pound cake rather than for sponge cake. I have being baking cakes for more than 20 years.
"How to make Lemon and Elderflower Cake" is the title of this video, so please, people, stop telling the baker all the things she did wrong. This was inspired by the flavour of the royal wedding cake, she didn't claim to be sharing the exact recipe of the actual royal cake. Smh. I think I'll give this a try this week for my 20th wedding anniversary cake.
Still floating from that beautiful royal wedding of Harry & Meagan. So beautiful! ♡♡♡ Thank you!
You’re welcome Angela! The whole thing was gorgeous wasn’t it! 💕

Sorry I didn’t see this sooner but all those suggestions are correct ☺️xx
SweetieDarlingCakes thank you.xx
I see the ingredients list but where are the instructions? I can't bring my computer into the kitchen with me and watch the video while I make it ;-)
You could write it down and take the instructions to the kitchen.
I think they used a SMBC, didn't they?
Yeah, that’s right ☺️ I made this before the royal wedding cake was made so you can just switch the buttercream for smbc xx
I'm pretty sure the cake icing is SWISS butter cream. THAT is no Swiss butter cream icing
