Dear Mr Anonymous, This is a vocal exercise called flageolet, which means it is not in any case meant to be directly utilised in a performance, a song, etc... I don't know your intentions of posting this comment (maybe I'm taking it too serious, it's the latter:) so I want to avoid passive agressivism, but what is your point ? If you go to the gym and repeat a push up 12 times in a cyclus of three (36 times), and you go shower yourself afterwards (I hope not like a cat woke up, lickin every body part with his/her tongue), can you tell me what's the point of that ? (The objective of that is actually veeerryyyyy useful, but not immediant). Read yourself in more. This is a video about vocal pedagogy, not a cover or a "showoff". Spread some more love if this was negative critisism. If I didn't thoroughly see the "humour" enough in your comment, I want to apologise as well by the way! :D Christof Vocal Coach
The cat here. Thank you for watching and listening, and taking the time to make such helpful comments. Exercises are learning tools meant to help achieve skills rather than as some kind of beautiful end in themselves. Please understand that I was once at the chalk on the slate stage and am thrilled to have progressed in these EXERCISES to the realm of living creatures. Only a house cat now, but one day I hope to be a mountain lion, or even better, a pitch-perfect songbird, even if I'm then eaten by a hungry house cat. Beat wishes for finding more pleasant exercises in the future.
Thank you for being such a blessing to me and such a great friend to my wonderful coach! Christof is patient, yet persistent, and maintains high expectations while always offering encouragement. I'm thankful for you both.❤❤❤
Of course, I listened to the song and you can already hear @ around 0:49 that Maria Callas is using flageolet to mix with head voice to make the sound more controlled, decrescendo it and add musical variations. I dare to state after studying about Flageolet for 4 years now, that without Flageolet, pichtes from G5 and further dare to create tension. You need to let the vocal chords vibrate at such a short length , with the right amount of airflow. This counts for both female and male singers. Always keep on singing! Christof - Vocal coach
@@ChristofChapsisOfficialsorry but furthermore can u hold or sustain the high notes that are ur head voice mixed wirh the flageolet? Do u have vibrato?
@@erenjaeger9348 Yes! Yes! and Yes! :D There's something in the world of singing that's called "muscle memory", in other words, once you gained full controle over the balance flageolet/head voice ,you can just chose to make notes big, tiny, with / without vibrato etc... Of course, I'm not a countertenor, and Maria Calllas.... I mean... you don't even start at trying to compare anyone to her. But I could practically sing every note of that song, small, big, vibrato, no vibrato etc.... I think, if you have more specific questions. I always offer a free of charge in-take Videocall (Zoom/Skye) (just once .... haha).Maybe I can show you a bit more in detail, because this is becoming textwise a bit difficult to explain. Of course, no further obligations to take any paid lesson. Christof
Dimash is using Flageolet ALL THE TIME. This student came to me through Dimash. Afterwards (not in the video) he sang repertoire of Dimash. Yeah, I'm using Dimash' name to get like... some 2OOO clicks... which will make me rich of course. To answer your question shortly: No :)

Can flageolet actually be used for like for really fast or quiet soprano arias like il dulce suono?
